It's good that people are getting them restored. There's too many people who scrap them and say "just buy another one". If we all did that then there would be no MK1 MX-5s left. I need my n/s front and rear sill doing, it's rotted underneath at the front near the wing. :( But I knew it needed work when I bought it.
Hi Ben, If you are going to tackle repairing those sills yourself, we do repair panels in our website shop, or feel free to send us some photos via the website contact us page and we will be able to give you an estimate
Thanks for highlighting the issues on the mkIII. I was looking for info on rust on them as I was looking at mkIII for my Dad. Noticed the subframes and braces on the ones we looked at were scabby but never seen one that looked like it would peel away like that. Need to go double check my dads one now 😮
Shocking. Not far off appalling! I'm in the process of finding an NC. First thing I'd do is get it undersealed! Looking for a low mileage car for life. Just looked up prices on your website. If I get one, I'll head down to see you guys. Definitely worth using and supporting a specialist. Thanks, Glenn
@@lightsuplightsdown3018 Yes mate, an 07 silver nc prht with 30k miles. I live in Ipswich, but I could make a holiday out of coming down to drop the car off mate! Cheers.
i just got a mark3 2013 that had never been driven in the rain. first thing i did was have striped and undersealed at thrussington. hopfully i can avoid the rust issues for a good few years yet.
Would you be able and willing to underseal and apply treatment to an MX5 MK3 NC 2008? Kind of a priority for my motor now. So far there appears to be no sign of corrosion but I'd like to keep it that way.
I knew mk3s can go bad underneath but that's pretty shocking. What would have caused it to hole like that..is it the same scenario as the mk1s and2s with blocked drain tubes/moisture?...
Doing a great job guys but seriously put me off getting a MK3 now. Was this ever addressed in later MK3 incarnations over its 10 year lifespan? I'm sure a seller wouldn't be happy if as a now informed buyer I started prodding at their car and leave with half the oxidised sub frame on the driveway!
Hi Lee, We haven't seen any evidence to suggest the later Mk3's are any different, I wouldn't let this put you off a Mk3, just make sure you have a good look around one before buying it, and then bring it to us for undersealing
@@lightsuplightsdown3018 glad my 2011 was Dinotrolled at 4 years old. Not pretty but seems to be Keri g the worm at bay structurally, some cosmetic paint has been done but do far so good.

@@lightsuplightsdown3018 Hi. I don't plan on doing it myself. I don't have the skill or the facilities. I will be in contact!

Thanks for this video. Not sure if I'm put off an NC now.. how much did the repair cost?

Hi Glenn, thanks for the comment, I hope you manage to find a good car so we can underseal it for you :)

Can’t think why they’re called hairdresser’s cars!
They called hairdressers car by idiots with small penis

Glad I live in OZ don't get those problems of crazy rust
But then we would be out of a job!!
I have a 2008 NC and live in the U.S.. My car is put away in storage every winter and does not have a rust problem.
Looking into buying a mk3 and am concerned about the rust, how much approximately does it cost to rectify and then apply the preventative treatment?
Costs for repairing rust issues really varies, but underseal and cavity wax can be carried out from £360

Hi Alan,
The cause is thin metal and lack of protection really

We need you guys back
Do the rust inhibitors work well?
The ones we use do :)
@@lightsuplightsdown3018 But what ones do you go for?!
Where are you based?
what year was the mk3??
I can't remember on that one, probably 2005 or 2006
Is this a common problem on the mk3?
Hi Chris
We are seeing it more and more often
MK 3 NC Type ..2006 ..look RUST..RUST RUST....it,s Schrott !
Pitiful attempts at humour and a dash of racism spoiled this.
You must get invited to lots of parties.
