Maradona was the greatest of all time
Is
Daniel, very respectfully slightly incorrect. Diego was the greatest YES - but also as long as humans are on earth NOBODY WILL EVER HAVE HIS SKILL, TALENT OR ABILITY
By a mile
Diego the greatest ever ⚽️🇦🇷🙏
and a cheat
Greatest natural talent that has ever played.
A Son of Argentina but a Gift to all Mankind! Genio Genio Genio RIP KING DIEGO, GOAT!
Most talented player on the pitch, ever. He was/is to soccer what Mozart is to music.
Unquestionably the best, most skilful player ever.
I don’t think you can say “unquestionably”.. it’s all a matter of opinion. Pele, Messi, Ronaldo etc
@@Micker375 nah - Maradona is the GOAT ... even Messi says that (since ages)!
@@Micker375 The Brazilian Ronaldo of course
@@TheBreaster not sure he would be in that top bracket of best ever - no one ever mentions him up there with Pele, Maradonna etc. Like him or hate him Christiano is in that group
@@Micker375 before his serious injury with inter milan the brazilian ronaldo was the most skillful and talented player I would say ever, I agree he wasn't as consistent as maybe messi or Cristiano, cause he lost pace after his injury but for about 2 years the Brazilian ronaldo when he had a season with Barcelona in the 90s in terms of his ability for around a 2 year period he done things nobody has seen on a pitch, just couldn't do it consistently over his whole career over serious knee injuries
Messi was part of the Barcelona setup since he was a kid..so he has enjoyed continuity, nurturing from his club, top class team members around him, better pitches, more protection from referees...but he hasn't inspired a mediocre team to success the way Maradona did with Napoli and Argentina. In my opinion, Maradona is the most natural talent with a ball that the world has ever seen . or probably will ever see.
Maradona was the best I have ever seen
Im in my 50s and all my life i had Pele 1 Maradona 2 .. after re-watching many videos i have Maradona no1 for one reason, they could both beat 3 players but there was a naivety in Pele's game, he had less awareness of tackles from behind and gave the ball away cheaper and with less determination, Maradona had a cunning 360' awareness, watch and see what i mean
I remember the goal in scored against Verona in 1985 from an angle about 40m out and I fell off the lounge in disbelief.
How high was your lounge?
@@MrDunkyg Not too high since he nailed your daughter.
No one touch the level of Maradona, watch 1986 world finals. 7 Belgium players marked Maradona!
That photo was a fake, all Belgium players stood around him, (if you're referring to that one?)
That photo was from 1982 world cup
Total footballing respect for this genius. He had more imagination and skill than anyone ever. Messi is better in other ways but not in imagination and skill
plus Diego dragged his team to glory by the scruff of their neck, he made others around him play better, he could do everything Messi does almost as well, but could also tackle, pass better, had better vision, was stronger, you could probably put him anywhere on the pitch even defence I could see him as a great sweeper and full back, could play dm/cm if he wanted could play 10, wing, forward, was a born captain, and his imagination...unrivaled. If we were playing all time great top trumps...or picking all time teams from any era, he'd be the first name Id have
Messi never had the imagination to punch the ball in with his hand.
@@abneryokum Have a look at how Messi wins his free kick against fabinho for his superb free kick in the CL semi.
Messi knows how to be a total animal when he wants to be.
The 4-0 2nd leg was total karma.

Here is Messis handgoal against Espanyol.
You must feel pretty dumb now but u deserve this if u state clueless things without doing any research.
Well spoken Mr Souness 👍🏼
An absolute footballing genius, rip Diego
and a cheat
And the players that tried to break his legs are criminals
Without a doubt Johan Cruyff would be in the top 5 greatest Graeme , but Diego is number 1 no doubt ......
I would have to agree with you!
Nah I wouldn’t put cruyff in the top 5
I can name 5 that might be better than him. Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldo, George Best,
Messi and C.Ronaldo have had the best ever careers
Maradona the best individual talent
Souness lecturing about thuggery! Heard it all now😂
Diego Armando Maradona was by far the football god of our youth,
now he's gone, much too early!
In the 80s he was something for us like Messi and Ronaldo are together today,
but that times 10.
Back then the individual class was much more important than it is today and the show was still allowed,
yes even welcome.
I will never forget when he played with SSC Napoli in Munich in 1989,
in the UEFA CUP semi-finals.
It became very quiet in the wide area of the sold-out Olympic Stadium,
when he came out of the catacombs juggling the ball and entered the square, so great was this man's admiration. 80,000 stood there and were amazed with their mouths open,
because the ball only touched the ground when "he" decided!
Today in times of "The team is all the individual nothing" you can no longer imagine the status a Diego Maradona achieved, but today Messi and Ronaldo are little lights!
Sry f my engl.
Perhaps the two goals Vs England in the world cup in 86' best showcased the contrasting sides to Maradona's personality and unquestionable genius.
People often forget about the 94 world cup - but he was amazing there too and might have carried them to another final
He got suspended after 1 game. Failed a drug test. Sent home.
@@OldManFifa After two. And he played great
Messi is a great player and had longer longevity . But he has played with amazing players in his team played in the best team. Maradona played with average players around him. Came back from a broken ankle and was still amazing. Also fearless.charismatic.leader. these qualities messi dont have and aint won a world cup.
Both are great in their own way .
Average players? Careca, Alemao, Sucker, Burruchaga...
Souness wasn't half bad himself.
Wasn't half bad at cutting people in half.
He had plenty of ability, but was extremely dirty...So many of his X rated challenges were completely unnecessary!
Them 2 words get banded about 2 much "Flawed genius" But with him it's bang on he set the blueprint 4 the players of 2day, I count myself lucky 2 have grown up watching him.. He's in my top one bar none👍🇮🇪
I guess the ultimate point everyone is trying to make (or perhaos some are trying to ignore👀) is this:
"If Maradona played for any other nation i.e. England, Ireland, Northern Ireland etc... Even PERU... THAT NATION WOULD INEVITABLY HAVE WON A WORLD CUP... And I don't think we can quite say that for any other player in the history of football as proven by Messi, Ronaldo, and all the great player's who've never won a world cup... perhaps Puskas would be the closest"
R. I. P. Diego Maradona, Thank you x
Summed up.... Greatest of all times!!!!
I don't think Best would be even close to the likes of Maradona. Had Best taken Northern Ireland to a world cup /Euros and did okay, then they'd be comparable. that Man u team would've still won the European cup without Best but Napoli and Argentina couldn't have won without Maradona
@boxing fan uk had he not scored/assisted, United still had quality throughout that team to win it. Maradona had decent players around him but without him Napoli would've been mid-table and Argentina wouldn't have won the world cup or got to the final in 1990. What did Best do with NI? Absolutely nothing, Maradona would've at least got them to the World Cup, something Best couldn't do. Don't get me wrong, Best was good but not in the class of Maradona
@boxing fan uk you know what they say though? two WRONGS don't make a right
Messi and maradona are the two greatest in history by a distance, its hard to seperate them as they are both so similar technically. And for those who say "but maradona won the world cup" ,messi lost finals in extra time and on penalties, there are very fine margins between winning and losing a world cup. They are the two greatest tough, no doubt.
Question is would messi have done it in the 80's would he have lasted under those brutal challenges the pitches were horrible compared to heavenly pitches and defenders can't tackle and attacker are protected for me for that reason maradona is the greatest period
@@asifiqbal9547 I think if Messi played back then he would handle it like Diego, as you know Messi is not known for goin down easy under any challenge, and if Diego played in Messi position today he would prob get similar numbers. They are both the best ever, I favour Messi slightly but its close
I respect your decision but for me maradona was better because he was nasty he looked and was a proper number 10 he had more character where as messi is more quieter maradona was more vocal also players around him in his team raised their game because they were captained by maradona he was a true leader while messi isn't also messi always has had a fantastic team around him at Barcelona and at international level what maradona did at Napoli nobody could replicate and in 86 world cup he dominated the world cup in which the way he did till this date nobody has I love messi but maradona was a larger than life character who never gave up unlike messi who shoulders have dropped for both Barca and Argentina on many occasions
@@asifiqbal9547 I agree Maradona was a better captain, I just think Messi is a slightly better player, but they are the two best in history, that I am sure of.
Not hard to separate them at all. Messi has only ever played on a stacked team and surrounded by talent.
if you ask me what and who is football???
for me is perfect football in a person and human being a mix of D10S and LOTHAR MATTHÄUS!!!
diego armando maradona is charisma, football, leadership, action, world class entertainment, mentality and team work!!!
ask valdano, ciro ferrara, alemao, careca or every world class player.
he said to napoli:
fly to munich and bring matthäus to napoli,we will win everything in italy and europe."
diego is football!!!you can not find a better evidence for football.
diego is leonardo da vinci!!!
diego is the paradise on the pitch!!!
Maradona was the greatest ever. No debate
Maradona is the GOAT
Cheating goat, a bit like Biden.
@Craig Forsyth Best?! Careca?! Van Basten?! Comparable to Maradona? LOL!!!
Very simplistic.....Football is a multi faceted game....theres no 1 answer for this...If you consider world cup is be all and end all then yes.....he has the best ever single tournament performance...if you think pure talent over a long period , it will be messi.....if you consider achievement it will be pele...if you consider athleticism and determinism , it will be CR7.......its a very subjective choice...
@@vi7225 Messi ? you're having laugh useless at international level and plays is two horse substandard league.
@@JG-us9lu you mean 4 champions league ...also la liga has more competition in top recently than English league which is run by 2 teams
Think maradona would be insane if he played today, but honestly I preferred old school football,it was more rough but it had much more charisma to it.
Maradona and Messi, the 2 greatest. The level Maradona got to in 86 will never be repeated at a major tournament. Messi has similar ability but has done it for 15+ years whereas Maradona had a peak 6/7 years.
How old are u Callum?
Jerry O'Shea I am 23. However it doesn't change the fact I'm still aware of what Maradona done in 86.
@@callummcgregorenthusiast5545 It makes a difference i can assure u.. My point was a simple one,we know he was a great player(one of the best)but this wasn't his finest or most proud momento!
Jerry O'Shea I would argue that the World Cup is the pinnacle for any player. Although what he done for Napoli is just complete madness.
@@callummcgregorenthusiast5545 I'm sure u would,but I think u missed the essence of my point.👍
Tom Finney. Me da always said the same thing, he thought he was the best he ever saw. He loved Best, Pele and Maradona, but he always reckoned Finney was the best.
Maradona the greatest ever but cant believe Graeme does not even mention Ronaldo Nazario as one of the best since
R 9 is so far of Maradona pelé Messi.
Is Joe Molloy on holidays here? Good think Souness can talk.
Maradona was more of a street fighter than soccer player. Players didn't have protection like players have today.
12:00 best players off all time
So sad, one of the top three footballers of all time, alongside Pelé and Best.
Agree! Zidane too! He was the best of his generation by along way! If not the best ever! Very 😥
Zidane ? Madonna was in a league of his own, way above any modern player. Cruyff
@@JG-us9lu Zidane scored two headers in World Cup Final win and won European Cup with 2 clubs plus his goal at Hampden. Maradona never scored in World Cup Final, never won European Cup. Pele scored 2 goals in World Cup final at age 17 and won 3 World Cups whilst Maradona just the one. Messi and Ronaldo no World Cups but look at European Cups and goals per season. Best and Maradona great highlights reels but really peaked in short number of years. Pele is the man followed by Messi and Ronaldo with Zidane in close order. Best and Diego left lot of hype in their wake but great entertainers, very similar characters on and off the field and died on same date. RIP
Best and Maradona, the ball carriers. The dribblers. The work that defines greatness
Maradona easily the best player ever
Magical players who were outstanding in between the Maradona & Messi/CR7 era:
1.Ronaldo Nazario
2.Zidane
4.Ronaldinho
3?
Not Ronaldo Nazario, he was overrated!
You forgot about Jim Denny, Graeme.
4:00
George best
Athletically, he is the perfect cross of Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Aryton Senna with tons of charisma and passion too. Leader and winner, everywhere except off the pitch - here he was flawed.
Flawed like any other person Craig.
Sir Stanley Matthews ?
Maradona and Pele is the best player in football history.
ronaldhino would be worth a mention in my top 6/7 players but Maradona defo top 3
For sure. Magical players who were outstanding in between the Maradona & Messi/CR7 era:
1.Ronaldo Nazario
2.Zidane
4.Ronaldinho
Garricha... Brazil 🇧🇷
“People used to try to kick him” 😇
"people" :-)
When he had the ball at his feet skill going past players ability class. The best ever. But there have been better goals scorers and he never really used both feet. Just that famous left. In the top 4 or 5 ever.
You know nothing bobo, he wasn't a striker, he was an enganche, a sort of link between midfield and the front, a playmaker, it requires to be fast, creative and clever both mind & foot. He was an enganche who made others score and scored himself many of the best goals in history, and it was intentional, he looked for that extra effect, the thrill.
anyone else googling Tom Finney rn?
Q: What did you do Graeme to try and handle him?
A: Kick him....like everyone else I came up against
Pele is no doubt the best and greatest football player ever, but also possibly the greatest sporting phenomenon ever to grace this earth, especially in terms of achievements, and here's why. I'm sorry, until any player can win 3 world cups and almost 4, and change how a sport is played, reinventing the game completely, and be so influential to a country that had never won a world cup to help them win at the age of seventeen for the first time, coming from poverty to dominate everything about the game and then have every player after and since him including Maradona and Messi copying him and trying to match him in style of play and achievements to this day, until another player is even close to this, Pele is no doubt not only the best football player ever, but possibly the biggest sporting phenomenon ever. And there is a reason for this. Both his right and left foot could do anything with the ball and we're just as good as eachother as a fact, not metaphorically speaking and no other player, not even Maradona or Messi have been blessed with this weapon, most especially to this degree. Watch how from outside the box, Pele strikes the ball with equal accuracy and power to score his goals, there is no other great that can do that. And yes he achieved all he did at a time when not just poverty, but racism at great extremes was against him, and at a time fouling brutally was allowed even more ruthlessly than in Maradona's time, and yes the pitches were even worse. Without Pele there would be no Maradona, you just need to see him wearing Pele's 10 shirt as a child to know who he had been watching as a child and aspired to be like, just like every other child that picks up a football even today. Maradona's life struggle was about trying to match Pele's achievements, but he could not get there, that's why he respected Pele. Pele made it look so easy.
Maradona number 1
Zidane, Ronaldo and Baggio
Ray Parlour a close second
Oh come on, Ronaldo???? CR7 doesn´t eat at the same dining table with Maradona, Pelé, Di Stefano and Messi. I haven't seen anything from George Best so I can´t tell.
Really? The man who's just scored more goals than any other player of all time isn't up with the greats? Messi has been coddled at Barca, had teams built around him. Ronaldo has proved his greatness in 4 different leagues.
Dining table !!!! Pele...Messi...etc etc are just waiters at that table serving D10S
@@gart9680 the thing is that you think that scoring goals is the only thing that counts. That's just oversimplfying the game! CR7 plays for himself, he doesn't build the team, he scores. Messi, Maradona, Pele, Di Stefano are COMPLETE players.
Please Graeme don't give me Messi and that other bloke who plays up North now...(cant even say his name) in the same breath as D10S !!
Unfortunately I couldn't agree with you more!
I think Graeme maybe comprised because of his job as a Premier League Commentator.
Souness memory ain't the best. Argentina lost no game in 86, won 6 and drew with Italy. Argentina totally outplayed England, should have ended 4-1.

He didn't need it.

"We should feel sad for him" ... ya coz he's dead
I remember seeing Tom Finney kick a tin of corned beef as high as he could 13 times in a row and he didn't move more than three paces.
Ha
Just ask Graeme Souness where and when did you see Messi beat a whole team on his own from the half way line
Messi never played a game of football without the best money could buy around him when he did he was found out
Strong opinion
Just watch this Seamus no need to ask Graeme ua-cam.com/video/l25IQqnksCs/v-deo.html
@Walter James Lawler yes, you can compare.
So if he is the top 3 or 4 that means there is someone that is able to do things with the ball that isnt able to do.Go back to sleep mate!
Graham Souness says that Messi is the best ever and I'd have to agree but Maradona must have been something special when you think of the state of the pitches back then

Go see how bad that Argentina team was, and focus on what Maradona did in those games. He LITERALLY carried the team. Defensively and offensively. He single handedly (non pun intended) dismantled a very strong England side. And he controlled the entire final against Germany.
