#FIFAWorldCup #Maradona #Argentina -
There is absolutely no way any living human could foresee exactly where the ball would bubble on the uneven pitch. The technical skills Maradona had was simply beyond what ever had been seen before or since. Nobody could run that fluintly with that pace on uneven surface like that and yet having the ball stuck on his feet. Simply impossible. The initial dribble combination when slips past 3 players in one fluint movement is something you can’t train specifically for. The exact same situation probably never appeared before or since. To string those movements together without hesitation, with no pause or indesiveness is pure magic. Doing a la croqueta or any other specific dribble is on the other hand something you can train and train and train over and over againto perfection. Michael Laudrup did that to perfection. But what Maradona constantly did was to string dribbles, even never heard of before dribbles into fluint combos only working in specific situations. Going on from there, he ‘passes’/chips the ball to himself to alude any imperfections on the pitch and the balls lies dead flat on pitch with millimeters precision right in the center between the next 2-3 defenders he is taking on. That allows him to pick up speed and accelerate into the final run against the goal. To dribble it the rest of the way the english goal is pure routine for Maradona despite the before mentioned pitch uneveness and random bubbling of the ball. The goal is not only the best WC goal ever scored. It is in fact the best ever scored in any match throughout history by the best player troughout history.
I never heard or read even in spanish such an accurate description Maradona's skill. Congratulation
Yes it well known as goal of the century...easily millennium to me
what a comment!
100% true everything you have mentioned
Feliz narrativa
Take away the distance, the composure, the speed of the run etc. Just look at each and every touch he has on the ball. He's in COMPLETE control. It's pure genius, a gift from the heavens above.
And ALL with his left foot. Doesn't touch the ball once with his right! Mad.
And he did it against a super team in a World Cup.
Watched it live when i was 9, still gives me shivers.
Same here. Football was more exciting in the 1980's. More passion and less money involved.
I watched it at 8 and that was my 1st world cup dream, thank you diego for giving a child the gift of a beautiful dream
Maradona denied the claim from his teammates but it was true - he really did win that WC singlehandedly. Masterful.
You’re taking credit away from bilardo, profe Echeverría and all the other players
@@alla7932 not at all. They said it themselves. While it's true Maradona's individual performances eclipsed every other side there, it was built on the foundations of Argentina's squad. Without them, he couldn't do what he did. France, Denmark, USSR, Germany, Brazil, Belgium, Spain etc. There were some great teams at that WC, which makes Maradona and Argentina's achievement even greater.
@@vikz5786 true Maradona didn't score in the final
@@COVIDisA_HOAX
Argentina won the WC due to that magnificent pass from Maradona to Buruchagga after both sides were 2-2 in the final.
@@COVIDisA_HOAX assisted Burruchaga's winner though... a first time pass that played him through. From midfield. Surrounded by Matthäus, Kalle Rummenigge and Brehme.
Gary nailed it: "I think this is the greatest goal that has ever been scored!" I am having hard time believing someone should out do that. EVER! THAT goal is going to stand next to the pyramids some 5000 years from now. Well, It is unmatched for sure.
😘
Respect to Gary Lineker from Argentina... He realy is a differente one... eventhou he got elimanted of that world cup, he always recognized the magic of that game... and that intelectual honesty is very dificult to find...
I think most of us England fans would agree that the 2nd goal was truly incredible
Foul in build up. Would not stand today. @@FatHead1979
I was a little boy when i watched this goal and now im a middle aged man it still gives me the same emotions, it was the first time i felt Football crossed over to Art
There was nothing arty about a ref ignoring a clear foul after having just ignored a clear hand ball.
@@graeme9668 Can't deny the man's genius.
@neiljohnson5351 Ignore him, he is English, very spiteful people.
@graem Doesn’t matter, it’s not about referee.
@@graeme9668 Idiot . .
The greatest player ever,i was 17 when i watched this goal.We were all waiting for Maradona to do something….and he did.
The beauty of this goal was that in 86 you didn't have but few opportunities to see games on TV. There was no UA-cam replay, cable had just started out. This was amazing to watch and see unhuman things being done with the ball. Pure magic to see live in tv.
Look @ the state of the pitch and Maradona skill, speed, dribbling and technique was amazing.
Maradona is absolutely GOAT
Absolute CHEAT :)

This was my first world cup. Maradona was a magical.
Greatest goal in the history of football
I was 15yo watching this live on TV and till this day it's the greatest goal ever in a World Cup
I was 11. Open mouthed
Seeing you Diego, I can't stop for cry and cry...
Maradona is the greatest artist in Football and he had amgic of his own
Man, I dont know if he was the best of all time or if its Messi or Pelé or Di Stéfano, but he is for sure my favourite....
Two greats watching the greatest.
eeerrrrrrrrrrr
If you look very closely at this goal, there are very subtle movements Maradona does against Terry Butcher and Terry Fenwick which confuses them both as to which way Maradona was going to go. Butcher thought Maradona was going to Butcher;s left hence he turned the wrong way, and Maradona started going to Fenwick's right confusing him before going to his left. And of course the feign against Shilton sending him the wrong way. The goal wasn't Maradona just running past the English players in straight lines, but there were very subtle and genius movements done by Maradona which sent English players the wrong way/confused them, allowing him to score that unbelievable goal
This is not just football. This is a monument to art.
Agree, absolutely
Diego eterno.
My favourite mara dona miss you 😢

A one in a million goal in an atmosphere like that at the highest level.
danke für alle diesen schönen Momente Maradona! R.I.P.
What a player and what a goal..❤
Watched El Pide de Oro on television score the goal in 1986 and I am still watching today 36 years later....
My 3 favourite Diego's moments are 1) this goal of century, 2)goal v Belgium and 3) his assist v Brasil in 1990
If you think about World Cup, yes, I agree. However, he had many great moments i Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barca and Napoli...
Watched this goal live on TV. It was joy to watch this special goal. Was not aware at that time that this will be considered as the goal of the century.
1986 Maradona was football at its peak. Nothing has touched that before or since.
Head and shoulders above anyone's prime.
It’s so strange how similar messi and maradona are, both small Argentinians with mythical talent and a godly left foot, and both scoring this goal. Of course maradonas was against a better team under better circumstances but both dribbling past players from the half way line, rounding the keeper and finishing it off. It’s like a spirit from Argentina enters someone every generation and creates a godly footballing figure. Beautiful.
Messi is better, and he isn't a cheat.
@@intenzityd3181 I completely agree with both of your statements.
There’s 3 games in the 1986 World Cup, Maradona against Uruguay, Belgium and England, no other player performed better then Maradona, in any World Cup, he dominated the 3games, pure genius.
Indeed. Whilst Maradona was a flawed human being (more so than your average person IMHO), he truly was an incredible talent!
Deadly Goal !! El Maestro Diego Maradona 🎉 🎊 in Awe of the movement! Truly Magic ✨
Beautiful ❤️ too Beautiful.
Thank you Maradona for 86.
The greatest goal ever scored in a WC! Maradona dribbled past 5 England defnders n GK's Peter Shilton to scre that great goal! England have one of e best defence that times but Maradona still done it!! We will nvr seen any goal like this again!!!
El mejor gol de todos los mundiales.
It's the Greatest goal ever scored at the greatest ever event!! Nothing will come near it!! As a neutral, it really is incredible!
Diego Armando Maradona what a player he changed the way we perceive "natural talent" and changed the parameters of what was possible and inspired all of our favourite players such as Messi, Ronaldinho Gaucho, Neymar, Hazard, R9, Cristiano Ronaldo amongst many others RIP 🕊
Beautiful every time I watched it since 86
The best and the meanest goal ever from the best player ever in only one game.
Awesome.
The great Maradona
The Best Maradona forever.
Absolutely incomparable to anyone.
Le spectaculo 🙂🙂
The difference between Maradona and the rest (Pelé, Cristiano, Messi) is that those lads need a super team with them to exploit their very best. Brazil won the World Cup of 62 with Pelé playing just one and a half games. It's clear that Messi and Cristiano without a mega team behind can't achieve their records. Maradona just needed average teammates to make miracles happen!
Argentina wasn't an average team. They had many legendary players
@@francisdarin525 Legendary? Who is it? The only two players who could be considered part of top teams in the world were Passarella (Inter) and Valdano (Real Madrid). Passarella, originally part of the Argentina squad for 1986, ultimately did not play in the World Cup. And Valdano, to be clear, scored 56 goals in 120 games played for Real Madrid, that is, an average of 0.46 goals per game. Do you know what other Argentine player had the same average goals per game in the same club? Gonzalo Higuain, 0.46 goals per game. No one, absolutely no one, considers that Higuaín has been a legend at Real Madrid. And Valdano either. Two average strikers, nothing more.
Apart from Pasarella and Valdano there were 5 more players who were part of foreign teams. Maradona, Burruchaga, Pasculli, Trobianni and Zelada. All of them playing in teams not considered as world elite. The rest were players from the Argentine national league. Messi and Cristiano have played in their league teams with world champions and at national team level with much more effective scorers than Valdano.
As I said before (and history affirms it) the Brazil world champion of Chile 1962 did not need Pelé to be champion. Those players, without Pelé, raised the Cup giving a demonstration of class with true legends such as Garrincha, Didí, Vavá, Amarildo and Zagallo. On the other hand, the probability that Argentina would win the 1986 World Cup without Maradona was equal to zero. Maradona scored 5 goals and made 5 assists. The Argentine National Team scored 14 goals in total in that Cup, that is, Maradona participated in 10 of those 14 goals, that is, 71% of the goals... without him they would not even have passed the first round.
I love Maradona but there are more examples like him. Romário won the WC for Brazil in 94. There were no many star players too. But I see your point. Maradona is clearly something else!
@@et9577 I don't think they are comparable, neither Romario nor any other. Brazil scored 11 goals throughout the World Cup, 5 of them from Romario. In addition, he made one assist. In other words, Romario participated in 54% of Brazil's goals. Maradona scored the same number of goals, but had five assists. That is, he participated in 71% of Argentina's goals. A lot, of course, is because of the position where they played. Romario was more of a center forward. Maradona was an attacking midfielder (who defended well, by the way). Much more complete than Romario in my opinion.
In addition, several of the Brazilian players played in the Italian League, Jorgihno at Bayern Munich, Bebeto at Deportivo La Coruña, Rai at Paris Saint Germain. In other words, Romario had better-quality teammates.
@@climperez oh yes Maradona much more complete. But if Brazil didn't have Romário in that WC I don't think Brazil would win that title
Klinsmann was one of the best finishers in the game
AND THAT´S WHY MARADONA IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIMES
No puedo mirar xq me emociona...grande dieguito maradona....lo mas grande
Absolutely greatest goal in the history 👌🏼
Gary n Juergen... WC 1990 semis.. :) great game
By some distance Maradona is the greatest player my eyes have ever seen. Messi is the Master but Maradona is the genius!
Messi did quite a similar goal v getafe...respect to them but they are not international England team and on world stage. Even after winning WC Messi still lack the charisma, personal ity compared to Diego. Would Barcelona or PSG name their stadium after him should he die like how Napoli did in honour of Diego? This alone speaks volume. If possible visit Naples and till date the natives especially elders still adores Diego Armando Maradona
This is footbal heritage
can't believe we almost lost the goal of the century had var existed in 1986
The amount of fouls Maradona faced without a single card not given to opponent is a shocker. If VAR had existed, Maradona would have minimum 2 World Cups. Easily
@@zakh231what about pele? How many wc would he got ? Probably 1 more
@@zakh231 that's not related to VAR, that's just how to game has changed over the years, in the past it was more physical and referees used to let players get away with more on both sides so it was fair
I saw this live on TV at the time... he had done it already against Belgium a few days earlier and the British press said he would never be able to to it against them... and they were right, the one he delivered against the English was even better!!
Vamos Maradona 💙🤍🇦🇷🐐
Vamos Argentina 💙🤍🇦🇷
MARADONA MAGIC MAGIC FENOMENO ABSOLUT
Diego Armando Maradona ❤ 🇦🇷
His body feints are unreal! Players need to focus on that skill more than step-overs!
Maradona 100 Goal 🇧🇩 ❤️ 🇦🇷
I was with no voice almost for a week, of course the little table in front of me flew along with all my papers on top of it, simply a masterpiece.
How it should be to see it from the pitch, by the players, by Himself. Thanks, always and forever, D10S.
The greatest. 🏐⭐⭐
Respect from Poland ;) Independed for Chechenya!
this was Diego's gift to all mankind
El pibe de oro. Dieguito Maradona.
Great goal ,my father Dr.B.Varadacharyulu ,1942sep28-2023 March25, and me admired Maradona skills, Dr.Bgvgiridhar ,palakol, Andhra Pradesh
Que genios!!! Gary y Klinsmann. GRANDES JUGADORES Y MAS QUE TODO GRANDES PERSONAS.
For him to think of dribbling from the middle of the pitch all the way to the goal is a mark of genius in itself
will we ever see a goal like that ever again?
The greatest goal of the world
Diego is the symbol of humanity.
The KING. Number one. GOAT.
Best Goal Ever 🙌
Peter Reid’s contribution to this goal is always overlooked
Beautiful in every way.
only, the best, D10S.. Noone like him..
The context in which he played marks the abysmal difference that exists between him and the other players
Best from here to eternity
Superb love to see that moment, the great countries England and Argentina played the game all out
I like watching legends reflect on their first-hand experience.
Maradona, the player who came the closest to reducing a team sport into an individual one
The England defence is a powerful defence with Terry Butcher he went through it like sliced bread
This goal is not only about the technique, was the history behind these 2 teams, a quarter final match.... it's enormous really!
Two Sharks together , Gary and Jurgen similar in their respective style of play the Vulture style but both excellent finishers who seldom missed when presented with the right opportunity
The greaest coal of the history ......Rip Maradona
12 touches that changed the world
Dos goleadores únicos, Gary y Klinsmann, qué honor
2 great strikers
If only the ref gave a foul to England before that , we will never see that Legandary goal and maybe Argentina didn't qualify then and win the World Cup with Maradona and also we won't see that reaction from Gary Lineker & Jürgen Klinsmann in this video at all
But the ref didn't whistle and he just let the history write itself in golden letters !
Bad referee decisions everywhere
Not to offend, but England wouldn't had won their only WC if on '66, that ghost goal wasn't given, because for it to be a goal... it has to cross the line, not just touch it and stay there.
Again, not to offend
Becuse the simple fact that not was a foul. Just yellow card because the tackle without ball.
@@Danymart7 well then, the game would be interrupted for a moment because of the fault to give the yellow card, and that precious goal wouldn't be elaborated by Diego because there wouldn't be Hector Enrique's pass, so it's kinda the same.
@@tanalbi No, In soccer there is a rule called "Advantage Law" used to avoid interrupting plays when the team affected by a foul is in possession of the ball. England made use of that advantage and later lost the ball and a few World Cups before that they stole a cup with a ball that never entered the goal.
@@Danymart7 yeah man I know the advantage like you, but the Enrique-Maradona pass was a couple of passes after that foul, so the Tunisian referee was either a fan or Argentina or a fortune-teller who thought that was gonna be the best goal he'd ever seen
Forever 🐐....
Perhaps you are right indeed: one of the greatest goals, definitely - it must also be said at this point: both of you, during and after your active careers, are two of the greatest, too. 👏🏼👏🏼
His greatest achievement was single-handedly taking a very average Argentina to the 1990 World Cup final. No other player has got close to doing something like that before or after
In todays Football, that is definitely a foul. But in 1980's, that tackle is standard. Happens all the time..
What a teamwork, even jorge buruchaga distracred the movement of england defenders squad
The best!
