It's easy to coach from the couch but one of the two other kayakers should have stayed in his boat and waited downstream on river left, especially if the plan was to try and go under the log (and in these situations the plan is almost always to go under). It's tempting to think a rope would help but he'd still end up going under, or tempting to think you can get out there and pull your buddy up onto the log, but I've been pinned under a log like that, I had a super strong partner with me, he was able to get on the log and with all his strength couldn't pull me up because of the force of the water pouring over back and shoulders. Like everyone else, I had to go under the log. Scary sh*t glad everyone was ok!
Sketchy. I kept thinking based on the height of the log it looked like he could just slide right under, but I suppose it could have led to a worse pin if judged wrong.
Yeah, I think it's one of those where it's better to sit tight and see if someone can get to you rather than trying to force the issue yourself and make things worse without people in a position to help.
I am lndian village boy. I love river as my blood. At the age of 3 i learn the swimming. I'm interest in kayaking but l have no income or money to buy it. If you sponser old kayake it I assure make a revolution in Indian kayaking through villages. Please can you help me
I would see if you could get a job helping a rafting company near you. In this time of COVID, there's probably not any tourists but hopefully you can make some connection with a company for future reference. Good luck my friend. May the river gods smile upon you ❤️
@@kayakkootenaybc Sir in my country the almost locals have no interest for kayaking or rafting or other adventure .but my country is fulfilled with nature beauty. Here more people thinking development is destroying nature and build huge infrastructure. Sir in my observation here no one have any type of interst to explore the nature they want only money so they busy all time . I'm from kerala India you can never see any kayakers or rafters except some only. I can proudly say I'm the first volger or UA-cam in these field BUT Sadly the support from thise community is very very poor 🙏🏼 never I give up but the fact is situation is very miserably .... Thank you so much Sir for give me such a good direction❣I wish you and family for a good days ahead .Good night Sir 🙏🏼
Considering level and flow of water..self rescue is best option here...hes fortunate flow is travelling under with the length of the hull...he did took his time gathered himself and took his opportunity...well done buddy👍👌
Way of the Dog MHDogman if you watch you can see him try to avoid it but he hit a rock and got spun, then surfed a bit towards it. It’s pretty easy for that to happen sometimes, especially if you accidentally lose speed and spin upriver, not really his fault
@@elijahhiltebrand5921 exactly. I agree, it may have been a rock or just an off-angle on his ferry line and his right edge caught the current and spun him.
When your safety crew is utterly useless...... rescue yourself.
not a lot anyone could do for him really.

And as always the roar of the water doesn't help with communications

I had the same thought process.
Sketchy stuff! Glad he’s ok

he said, peace out!
With that level of support from your sleepy buddies, you might as well paddle on your own.

Class IV, boulders, timber, and water. Who would suspect anything could go bad?
Great self rescue!
Stuck between a log and a hard place
chaud chaud mon raph, les arbres c nos amis
Da hast echt Glück gehabt. Ich hätte mich so eingeschissen ...
Are you holding on to the log Deandra?
Oh I don't know.
Let go of the log, Deandra.
I will bend like a reed in the wind
the lack of urgency and communication would be concerning to me
La situation a connaître par procuration....
never underestimate the dubaye
So scary
Oh there's a big log down there. I think I'll paddle right down into it???
