Really well made video, nicely structured. You definitely hit all the marks you set out to: it's simple and very informative. Also I noticed some of the little scenes you filmed during the intro. It's a nice touch! 😊 I don't want to sound creepy or anything, but you have a really nice voice I could listen to you talk all day hahaha! 😅 But honestly, your delivery is fantastic at removing a lot of the pressure of this challenge. Just want to say thank you for making this guide. The simplicity in which you explained everything was very helpful. I managed to defeat Jad and get the fire cape today after 2 failed attempts against Jad. For anyone struggling, don't give up. It's just a matter of practice and keeping calm. I would recommend you bring more than 800 scales because I brought 1500 and ran out at wave 55. 2000-2500 would be sufficient. Also, adamant darts are good enough if you want to save on cost. Good luck to all!
Fight caves seemed like an impossibly fair off thing, but with your low requirements and simple gear, plus amazing explanations, you really helped inspire me. I'm still not at that point yet, but you certainly changed my mindset on it being practically unreachable for me.

i just got my first fire cape ever, and i've played for years starting back in 2007. after watching this video end to end, i got a pretty good understanding of the fight. while referencing the wave sheet you had and remembering tips that you gave, i wound up getting the cape on my second attempt!!! i'm so happy and this guide helped me out a ton. thank you for making this great vid!!
Just got my fire cape on my first ever attempt at fight caves thanks to this video! I always figured it would be too difficult for me, but your detailed explanations gave me the confidence to beat Jad. Got a little squirrely when the healers came out so i misclicked and got hit by Jad but was able to tank it. The last minute of the fight had my heartrate through the roof lol trying to watch Jad's animations, healing, and making sure the healers didn't stack me out.
I don't normally like/comment, but this video was incredibly informative compared to most other videos. Other videos become complex within seconds watching it, but this was so informative on just the basics, which is all that is needed, that I was able to complete it first try. Appreciate the advice and tips. Liked for sure.
Finally did it after watching your guide and 4 attempts. This is an amazing video and such a great achievement doing it! Stayed calm for the last one. One Tip I suggest: Use longrange if youre using Blowpipe, it helps grabbing the healer and staying away from Jad!
Thank you very much for this guide Josh. Finally got my Fire Cape thanks to this guide. I really appreciate the simplistic yet informative approach to this guide. It worked wonders for me. The biggest thing to remember for me was to keep calm, and keep everything I learned here in mind. Can't say enough praise, so I will leave it at a simple thank you again.
I DID IT ! Josh thanks so much man I watched this every single time I tried at the cave (7 times). But after a lot of practice I did it and I feel so fulfilled ! Thanks so much man I owe it ALL to you
I’m coming back to this like 4 years later since my first cape and wanted a refresher. I had to scroll through so many to find this one because this one is down right phenomenal. It’s a masterpiece. Best one out there.
Thank you for this guide. I’ve tried it three times, failing twice, and succeeding the third attempt with a Jad task + slayer helmet. The healers fully respawned THREE TIMES but after killing them a fourth time and running perilously low on super restores for prayer, I did it! Got my fire cape. I have exactly ZERO desire to do that again.
Thanks for the amazing guide man. It helped me get it in 2 tries. If I may give two additions to this guide: - Take way more darts & scales: I had about 2k darts & 3k scales, this was plenty and didn't have me worry during the fight - The healers at the end can respawn if they manage to heal Jad to full hp. This threw me off the first time I tried it. So I would recommend tanking them as well. Anyway, I'm part of the fire cape club now, cheers!
Guys, this video is still relevant and finally got me my first fire cape today with only 2 tries. Took 1:29 on my winning run. Thank you so much for this guide. Will recommend this video to everyone in my clan who still needs a cape!
I know this guide is 3 years old now but I just wanted to drop by and thank you for helping me get my first fire cape, it took me 8 tries but I did it and I feel amazing! One other thing that really helped me out in the Jad fight itself was verbally calling out what prayer I needed to use so I didn’t get flustered when the healers came out.
After consulting this and a few other guides, i got my fire cape first try!! Thank you! For anyone attempting the caves, i would reccommend bringing 4000 scales and 2000 darts. I only used about 3500 scales and 1500 darts, but better safe than sorry.
Got it 3rd attempt. Thank you so much, you don’t understand how amazing you are are and what a difference you make! A true hero. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Dude! After several frustrating tries (of which the first I ran out of scales on Jad..) I watched your soothing Attenboroughy video, went in and did it! Great video!
Got my first firecape Saturday, thanks! Used blessed d'hide, Barrows gloves, blowpipe + rune darts, a fury, rada's blessing 2 and a Neitiznot's helmet. Took 64 minutes at 84 range. My advice would be to bring less Sara brews and more bastion potion, it makes the fight quicker and easier.
hey josh - i know this vid is 4 years old but I recently accomplished my childhood dream and got my first cape and this vid really helped me prep, even got TzRek-Jad :) thank you sir, made a fan for life.
Thanks for the guide! I managed to do this first time which is insanely lucky, messed up the prayers on him about 5 times but managed to get the hang of it with 31hp left and 2 super restores, very nearly came up short handed lol
@@proudpatriot3491 Thanks mate! I definitely should have died but got into that stoned focus mode and got away with being hit by JAD about 5 times hahaha
Hey man, Watched your video and managed to complete the fight caves on my second ever try. Walked in melee range of the mage on accident the first time. Thanks for the video!
Definitely earned a sub on this one man. This is the most easy to understand noob-friendly firecape guide I’ve seen. I think after gaining a few more levels I’m gonna try it out!
Josh, my man, you're a legend. I just got my first fire cape using this. Your simplicity and calmness really helped me ease out the nerves. All these other guides expect way too much of me ahaha. You're a real one.
I had 1800 scales and 2000 darts, during the 2nd part of my fight with Jad I ran out of scales and had to continue with throwing the darts by hand. Unloading my blowpipe and equipping the darts whilst tanking 4 healers sure made my heart rate go up. Time to kill was 77 minutes. Thanks a lot for your guide, first try fire cape with your exact set-up minus archers ring.
I think this is due to the bp nerf, I had a similar problem. So we definitely need more than the recommended amount of darts. Not Josh's mistake though, this guide was made before that update
@@corneliahanimann2173 Yup, you should also use amethyst darts instead of addy darts. It will make a significant difference in the time it takes you to kill all of the mobs and jad :).
@@Thornshade I already have one, but a friend did it for me, so I did it now on Leagues, and feel like I can do it on the main too, but I also feel like I've underestimated the damage the healers can do. I thought I could tank them, and even on leagues with maxxed defense and absolute unit on, they were hurting me, but I also went in there with a magic crossbow and adamantite arrows, so I took my time...I just want to do the firecape again so I've done it for myself too basically. Does Josh have a video on the inferno btw? I thought he used to have one but maybe I just saw a video of another english creator...I'm starting to get a superiority complex and curious about the infernal cape after one boosted Jad kill lol.
Out of all the videos I watched before the fight caves, THIS was the one that was by far the most helpful. I'm not the best at PVM but with your help I was able to get my fire cape yesterday. Thank you!
Thanks Josh, you gave me the confidence to try my first boss in old school after dozens of years playing. I did well up to Jad's healers, but I'm sure I'm gonna make it one day. Love your channel.
Hey Josh, I went for my second attempt, I had to watch your video again. This time I made it. I almost ran out of scales (100) but made it, thank you. Hope you post more new videos soon, I love your channel.
Fantastic Guide! I was able to get the fire cape in 66 mins. Thank you 5/5!! Side Note: I'm 90 range and I brought 1,500 scales with me. I managed to kill Jad with only 21 scales remaining. I would highly recommend bringing 2,000 with you!
@@clipdump I did it on leagues once, but not on my main. I think I'm.able to do it. Maybe it's a dumb saying, but I think that I had been at this place with Jad 3 times before caused me to actually pay attention and get through. I'll do it on my main
@@corneliahanimann2173 i faced the big boy my first time today and tried a couple more times but failed. i think the most annoying thing is the first 50 ish waves are boring and long, and also expensive with the blowpipe. I wish i played leagues now because it was a great opportunity to try out boss content. The shittiest thing is i definitely have the stats, like 97 range and some decent gear and whatnot. its just the fight, and also maybe my internet makes the prayer part a bit difficult too
@@clipdump yea its really thaz you invest an hour to get to Jad, that makes me dread the grind... Jad himself isn't as bad once you get over the panicking phase, and you do have to get through that phase too
Thanks for making this video, 10/10 guide for anyone going into the caves for the first time. I have always put off doing the fight caves for the longest time because I thought learning them would require a lot of time and effort but after watching this video I had a lot of confidence in finally attempting the caves. You explain things very well and concisely and have a good voice to go along with the great information. Anyone that isn't sure about doing the caves themselves can rest assured if they follow this guide they will get the cape. I have never attempted PvM in runescape before and was able to complete the caves on the second attempt, the first attempt I got to wave 42 and died due to fidgeting with my protect prayer instead of just leaving it on magic the whole time so it was entirely my fault. Went in with 84 range/health and 65 prayer, 3 bastion potions, 6 sara, 1 stamina and the rest were full restores, ended up using all my sara and had like 6 full restores left and didn't even need to drink my stamina once with 72 agility. Also decided to pop a cheap ranging/defense potion before I went in the second time and the stats remained once inside so I'd recommend doing that. The blowpipe special attack healing came in clutch, try to use it on the rangers for best health return. Best of luck!
I love this guy, I didn’t even need to watch this video but I thought I’d support him and give him a view anyway. When I get fed up and have gone through a frustrating day, any of his content helps. Simply because I can appreciate his intellect, he steers me back onto path. We’re all people and one person can’t control everything. Besides, no matter how stupid some people are, I still have the benefit of reassurance. I know it’s a strange comment, but thanks man. It’s been almost 72 hours of trying to be of assistance to my in-laws, flooding their daughters house, only to find out in the last hour that someone turned off the sub pump and because of that, when the house flooded it tripped the breaker, meaning they had turned it back to the on position and failed to mention their involvement. Of course, with it being the Holliday weekend there wasn’t a service tech available until Wednesday. Thereby resulting In oblivious obligations. Only to find out... that if they hadn’t panicked, focused on their prayer flicks, I could have answered their questions of “what to do” over the phone. So now I’m tired and rambling on UA-cam. Initially I had planned on omitting the details of my endeavor but ... like I said I’m pooped. Peace! (I don’t use twitch, otherwise I’d follow you)
DO NOT bring at least 800 scales like the guide says, bring like 3k just in case. I had to suicide on wave 50 because i only brought 1200 thinking i was safe
So I'm not the only one. I am doing the cave atm. Brought 800 scales but ran out at wave 40 or so. I am now doing the rest with adamant darts. Currently at wave 50 but don't think I'll make it :D
Shit. Fill that bitch up all the way. Just to be safe. Then you’ll be set for 12 hrs of endless combat then. Won’t have to worry bout dying or suiciding for that matter
Using your guide I got my first fire cape today on my fourth attempt, after 15-odd years of playing - thanks! Though I brought three bastion potions and no stamina, since my range felt on the low side at 78.
Fantastic guide! I died my first try due to my failure to switch from Missile to magic and got two shotted by a mager no joke wave 30 TURN ON PROTECT FROM MAGIC lol
Got to wave 62 attempt first try. Died to Jad within 15secs cause I absolutely freaked out over prayer switching. That's a hour and twenty minutes of my life I'm never getting back......
After 19 years of playing this game, I finally got my first firecape. I'm an adult and my heart was pounding, but your guide was so helpful, thank youuu
Dude with a voice like that you could rock some animal or history documentaries and make bank... just saying make a second channel with a nat geo vibe and call it the hitchhiker's guide to nature lol
It was a little scary at times, but got it on first try thanks to this guide! One of best tips for Jad was keeping prayer on range and only switching to pray mage if you need to, and then go straight back. Helped alot! Thank you and subscribed!
Best guide I have ever seen in my life. Got fire cape on my first try for my friend in real life and he paid me $30 for it. If it wasn’t for this video I wouldn’t of been able to get it done on first try cause back in the day I’d always panic at jad
Thanks to this top bloke I got the fire cape on my first attempt. My internet timed out for a few seconds on Jad and I got the Near Miss combat achievement in addition. EZ
My main issue is "Jad Hands" I know everything, I can do it but when it comes to Jad its the pressure of if i fail i have to go through the long process again. I think the way you switch prayers will be a very helpful approach for when i next attempt him.
it may sound stupid, but the way i was able to get past my jad hands and get my cape was to convince myself that either i didnt need the cape or that it wasn't worth it. you don't necessarily need to do that, but on my final fire cape run where i actually killed jad, i had gone in with the thought that it was "only for a joke" i think the best way to go about getting your first fire cape is to take the caves seriously enough to get through the caves with supplies and try not to die, but also to keep in mind that, at least for the time being, it doesn't matter if you die like i said its a weird sounding and almost counter-intuitive strategy for beating jad anxiety, but it worked for me!! good luck, keep at it, you can do it!
@@HypurrDom That makes sense, and reminds me of what my cousin used to do. To relieve anxiety he would just state "i'm going to die" (this was when he was around 12 I believe, it's been a long time)
@@GryphStone yeah its that same kind of technique! it's really odd when you type it out, but it's even more odd when it actually works somehow. you wouldn't think it would, but it does??
This is by far the best guide for the fire cape. It made me feel comfortable enough to go for my first try. I made it up to wave 63 but I was killed by Jad. Tanks for the amazing guide. I will go for my second try today.
Thank you so much, this is by far the best guide on Jad UA-cam has to offer. After three tries I managed to get my very own fire cape, thanks in no small part to your calm demeanor, encouraging words, and useful information. Thanks again!
I watched yourv video quite a few times, and your accent and presence is encouraging. My first time jad ever, ran full guthans and blessed dhidebody and blowpipe and confidently got to jad with plenty of supplies left. Much appreciated and well broken down video.
literally got to jad with this guide and i mucked it up on jad himself, ended up being a lot to watch for me. dunno if i will make my way back in there for a while, losing that close to the end is really discouraging.
I get it man, it took me like 4 tries to get it, and I made it to Jad multiple times.... we don't talk about the try that I died to a mager, that never happened. It was so depressing reaching Jad, getting him low and panic switching prayer, but I actually ran into a person outside on my second last attempt that was also struggling. You aren't alone man, and you aren't awful at the game. You just gotta keep your nerves in check, but everyone who is trying new content is struggling, because you get excited, your adrenaline spikes, your hands shake, you're mind is playing tricks on you. Breathe, stay calm, don't let your excitement win! Ignore that you're actually about to win, and focus on the moment, you'll have lots of time to lose your mind after that cape is on your shoulders :) Good luck bro
@@Oneshtforfun I will eventually get back in there, it was just one of those victory was so close then failure. I opted to work on some other skills primarily strength (currently 96 trying to get to 99), I also wanted to raise my range level to something like 80+ before diving back in there just to make it easier on myself
Yes, its discouraging but somehow when I died to jad the first time I got so frutrated with myself for messing up something so simple that i went and bought supply for a 2nd try right aaway and got it out of frustration lol
I remember playing this back when a rune c Bow and diamond e bolts were a go too and bastion potions didn't exist. I used boiled sweets also. Got it to like 25% health with a friend helping, then the dial up internet went and lagged me out just long enough to get killed. Now, 11 years later, I am here for my revenge.
This has to be the most detailed/simplest made guide I have seen on the fire cape for that Sir I thankyou attempting it tonight for my 2nd time as first time got wave 30 and ran outta brews hahaha
Before wave 61 ends, make sure you are in the middle of the map so you can see exactly where the orange mager spawns. If you are not in the middle of the map, the orange mager may end up moving to get within magic range of you. This screwed me over on my first attempt; I killed the orange and then was all "wait a minute, where's Jad?"
Thank you for this guide, extremely helpful and easy to follow. Got my fire cape in 3 tries after watching this guide, didn't think I'd be able to do it since I have no experience bossing in OSRS but I did it!!
This guide helped so much man, thank you! the tip to always be on ranged prayer and switch to magic along with doing one thing per attack was the real key for me!
Getting to jad has been pretty easy, I just keep messing up the prayers by not switching back and forth quick enough. Im close to almost 10 attempts now and its so disheartening. EDIT: The guide has been extremely helpful, and I have been following it from the start and its been invaluable, I just keep messing up the prayer swaps. Thanks for making this, I wouldn't be getting through the waves without it.
thats one thing in this guide is that its easy to recognize the mistakes! im just starting my fire cape got slapped. going back in again with my confidence from this guide!

Other videos become complex within seconds watching it, but this was so informative on just the basics, which is all that is needed, that I was able to complete it first try. Appreciate the advice and tips. Liked for sure.
I can't thank you enough for this! After 3 attempts a few months ago and two attempts today - I can finally say I have my very own fire cape!
Finally did it after watching your guide and 4 attempts. This is an amazing video and such a great achievement doing it! Stayed calm for the last one. One Tip I suggest: Use longrange if youre using Blowpipe, it helps grabbing the healer and staying away from Jad!
This has way higher production than it has any business having. Quality stuff, keep up the great work!
This is an unbelievably well-done guide. You nailed the clear and concise explanation. Instant sub man I will be coming back regularly!
Thanks man, I'll try to keep the quality high on all other guides :D
After 15 years+ playing this game (extremely casually), I found the first guide to make me feel like I'm about to go kick Jad's ass

Beat it on my second try ever. Thank you so much! I know I'm about a decade too late but still feels amazing beating this thing :D
I DID IT ! Josh thanks so much man I watched this every single time I tried at the cave (7 times). But after a lot of practice I did it and I feel so fulfilled ! Thanks so much man I owe it ALL to you
You do so well with your guides. I love how you use images and repetition to give us stuff to recall on. This is great.
I’m coming back to this like 4 years later since my first cape and wanted a refresher. I had to scroll through so many to find this one because this one is down right phenomenal. It’s a masterpiece. Best one out there.
Best guide I've seen so far, all I need is a few more range levels and then I'll be all set to try it this weekend.
Let me know how it goes!
If you get it, share a pic on the discord.
If I may give two additions to this guide:
- Take way more darts & scales: I had about 2k darts & 3k scales, this was plenty and didn't have me worry during the fight
- The healers at the end can respawn if they manage to heal Jad to full hp.
I’m so glad strife made a guide. This is amazing and makes me feel like I can finally go face my fear of the fight caves.
Great video!
love your content these days never would have guessed you'd also be the person who helped me get my first fire cape thank you josh
Gratz dude, its a tough fight!
hey josh - i know this vid is 4 years old but I recently accomplished my childhood dream and got my first cape and this vid really helped me prep, even got TzRek-Jad :) thank you sir, made a fan for life.
Thanks for the guide! I managed to do this first time which is insanely lucky, messed up the prayers on him about 5 times but managed to get the hang of it with 31hp left and 2 super restores, very nearly came up short handed lol
Grats bro!! I almost got it my first time. It's a breeze with Josh's info
@@proudpatriot3491 Thanks mate! I definitely should have died but got into that stoned focus mode and got away with being hit by JAD about 5 times hahaha
Bro you were born to create videos. This is the best information in the clearest way ever! Thank you
Best guide I've seen for this.
Maybe after a week or so of leveling I'll give it my first real attempt.
Thanks for the guide.
Hey man, Watched your video and managed to complete the fight caves on my second ever try. Walked in melee range of the mage on accident the first time. Thanks for the video!
Your confidence just got me my first fire cape. Thanks pal
got my first firecape 2nd attempt using this guide. highly recommended. Made it so much easier not having to use sound - used spotify the whole time.
Definitely earned a sub on this one man. This is the most easy to understand noob-friendly firecape guide I’ve seen. I think after gaining a few more levels I’m gonna try it out!

One of the many who used this guide before the blow pipe nerf.
Thank you so much, very easily the best guide out there for Jad!
Thanks man, ill have to remake this for the post-nerf world
This was amazingly helpful, got my first fire cape after 3 attempts! Got to say, Jad shakes are real!
@@Thornshade I only used Rune darts so far...
aren't amethyst darts kinda expensive? or dragon darts?
@@corneliahanimann2173 Amethyst darts are actually a bit cheaper than rune darts! If you're going for one firecape its not gonna break the bank.

Just scales or adamant darts and scales??
I did 3 attempts now and each time made it to Jad, but panicked with the healers...
I'll get there...
@@corneliahanimann2173 same, what worked for you in the end, if you ended up beating jad?

Dude thank you so so so so SO much! Your voice gave me confidence and I got the fire cape. Good luck yall!
Congratz dude, well done!
I just got my fire cape before the blowpipe nerf! Thank you so much for this video, it gave me the confidence I needed :)
Blowpipe hasnt got nerfed yet
I had to suicide on wave 50 because i only brought 1200 thinking i was safe
use 2 bastion potions instead of a stamina
So I'm not the only one. I am doing the cave atm. Brought 800 scales but ran out at wave 40 or so. I am now doing the rest with adamant darts. Currently at wave 50 but don't think I'll make it :D
Shit. Fill that bitch up all the way. Just to be safe. Then you’ll be set for 12 hrs of endless combat then. Won’t have to worry bout dying or suiciding for that matter
daivd decoster like I said fellas, put 16k scales in and you will be a-okay

Thanks, i actually am a voice actor :)
I think the way you switch prayers will be a very helpful approach for when i next attempt him.
it may sound stupid, but the way i was able to get past my jad hands and get my cape was to convince myself that either i didnt need the cape or that it wasn't worth it. you don't necessarily need to do that, but on my final fire cape run where i actually killed jad, i had gone in with the thought that it was "only for a joke"
i think the best way to go about getting your first fire cape is to take the caves seriously enough to get through the caves with supplies and try not to die, but also to keep in mind that, at least for the time being, it doesn't matter if you die
like i said its a weird sounding and almost counter-intuitive strategy for beating jad anxiety, but it worked for me!! good luck, keep at it, you can do it!

You're very welcome!
Super calm the whole way and then gets to Jad and i've never had so much panic
I watched yourv video quite a few times, and your accent and presence is encouraging. My first time jad ever, ran full guthans and blessed dhidebody and blowpipe and confidently got to jad with plenty of supplies left. Much appreciated and well broken down video.
literally got to jad with this guide and i mucked it up on jad himself, ended up being a lot to watch for me. dunno if i will make my way back in there for a while, losing that close to the end is really discouraging.
Keep trying man, try going into it with the mindset that you’re going to be unsuccessful so it isn’t as discouraging. Good luck!
This is genuinely the best fight cave video on UA-cam
I remember playing this back when a rune c Bow and diamond e bolts were a go too and bastion potions didn't exist. I used boiled sweets also. Got it to like 25% health with a friend helping, then the dial up internet went and lagged me out just long enough to get killed. Now, 11 years later, I am here for my revenge.
Good luck tho
This has to be the most detailed/simplest made guide I have seen on the fire cape for that Sir I thankyou attempting it tonight for my 2nd time as first time got wave 30 and ran outta brews hahaha
Before wave 61 ends, make sure you are in the middle of the map so you can see exactly where the orange mager spawns. If you are not in the middle of the map, the orange mager may end up moving to get within magic range of you. This screwed me over on my first attempt; I killed the orange and then was all "wait a minute, where's Jad?"
THIS
You can know the Jad spawn location based on wave 3 though..
Thank you for this guide, extremely helpful and easy to follow.
