I would never cringe....when hearing you talk about dropping an LS into this rig......it puts a smile on my face.....and I am looking forward to the finished results......
I’d never complain about your choices. Makes no sense. These are your projects and I’m just here to watch you make them. I’ll be here pretty much no matter what you do… because…well…you’re terrific to watch. 😊👍👍
I like that Idea of a good winter start and run engine that the LS has proven itself as one of the best. I like your laugh and saying this will be easy, for me probably would take me over a year and still not be finished. Like watching you fab stuff together and it looks good because it is fixed good
That will be a great winter car,Ls,overdrive, command start, cruise, whats not to like.I would go with more modern diff,we know you cant resist a burn out,or a donut or two.pablo will love it.
I appreciate the decision to keep this car's original shape. Your reasoning to keep this one and maybe chop the other one makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks for another worthwhile video. Yours are always at or near the top of my watchlist.
I have to tell ya I first saw you on DD speed shop and since then me and my 83 year old pop watch everyone of your videos.. great work really enjoy hanging out with you and the dogs cheers.
There is a kinda charm to these older cars. Imagine a lick of paint and a bit of TLC, then drive it to do your local shop at the Mall to see who notices.
Hi Brent (I'm the previous owner of the Monarch) . Yes the kids used to also push the car into the ditch , so th old school bus driver locked it up good. Lol. The master cylinder is a 1959 Ford car.
How awesome would it be to just walk out into your yard and decide well today I think I'll work on a 51 Merc. This channel is my favorite. I've "borrowed" quite a few tips from Brent for my own project. As far as the LS goes who cares. Like Brent said the next person can rip it out if they want to.
I love it, she'll have a have a little get up and go for you. And I like keeping them original as well, even if they are not the most desireable car out there. Great show.
I don't hate the LS. Best engine available it you really want it as an everyday driver. It's UGLY like all modern engines but fast, great drivability and decent fuel mileage. Sooooo, whip out the mig and get to it. I love fabrication. 50+ years for me and I'm still at it.
I am putting an LS in my 67' Ford f-100 and could care less what anyone thinks lol I paid 1/3 of what it would have cost me to get a fuel injected Ford motor where I live. It will be a daily driver. I can find LS parts cheap and easily. So use what you have!
@@josephwilliams8985 Ya thing is if you want to Turbo it [low or average compression high boost] you can pop two different tunes on the laptop.. one for the regular family stuff and then one to fire up for the track or smoking the tires sort of deal. Get great mileage for the traveling yada yada. There are so many you can lift out of the scrapyards and salvage yards... built like tanks across the bottom. Affordable.
@@josephwilliams8985 It depends. If I was doing a brand new build and a full custom, I would definitely go with a Coyote or a Ford Windsor crate motor. If it's just a knock around, I would put whatever I had in it.
Just happened onto your site; love the garage, I come from a family of mechanics and my grandfather's shop was just like yours. I just love the smell of an active old style shop. I tend to be a purist, but I grew up driving these things and sure understand the desire for reliability and appreciate you keeping as much of its character as practical.
So what is better? A car from the early 50s rotting away in someone’s yard or one that is in use with whatever drivetrain works on it? I’d opt for the second;it’s not a Duesenberg or a Bugatti after all
Love it - Built the same car 6 yrs ago - Camaro clip is a very easy swap - those tail lights are 51 Monarch / Lincoln only (very cool) - I put lots of very enjoyable miles on it - you'll be a happy guy
Brent: I have a friend who bought a 33 Ford 3 window 30 yrs ago. It was an old roundly round car and had lived a hard life. Anyway he thought he had a pair of cherry doors until he ground down the doors and found some wood screws. Moments later he realized someone had carved a couple of 2x6's into lower door bottoms! They fit pretty good though!😆
I love this channel, so chilled, a fresh coffee and join the journey.. I have no affinity to any make or model or engine, I just take this at face value and I’m happy… keep doing what you do … greeting from England :::
Good plan making it a driver. It’s a good looking car. LS motor isn’t cheating. I would like no matter what motor was in it as long as the motor came from North America. 👍🇺🇸🇨🇦
Command start .. you mean remote start , like from the kitchen window to warm up car before leaving ? from Ohio here , I like all your videos . also like the ls motors . power steering in the snow . power brakes , 5.3 power = great fun
For the life of me, I don’t understand why people think they’re even entitled to an opinion on how you build the cars that belong to YOU. It is your car, do with as you will and let the haters all go pack sand. For me, I say LS swap the world! I look forward to seeing how this one turns out. The suicide doors on it are cool.
I did one like that to, think it really depends how bad the floors are if I do another one like that. as it was a lot of work and wasn't happy with the hvac stuff in the car after.
@@HalfassKustoms o i did not keep any of the HVAC from the caprice. i dont have AC or heat in most my cars i live in CA on the beach. HAHAH thanks for a fun video
With the suicide doors, being a 4 door works fine. This car has nice lines overall and a good stylish stock side trim. It does not really need to be chopped. Plus it’s nice to have a car you can get comfortable in without having to shave off 6 inches of your head, and so long as it’s a bent 8, who cares which mount ore you have. They all work and sound right. The underside is in much better shape rust wise than I expected.
Maybe a super rich hater will pay for parts , labour to build what they think it should be. Otherwise people should just enjoy you sharing your vision and content. Look forward to seeing this one come together. Love that old school look
you should NOT have to apologize about how you are going to build out YOUR car?! If others don't like it, they can go build one their way or "change the channel"! I dislike the saying but very unfortunately in this day and age, it is SOOOOOO true.........."Haters are going to hate"...............and they DO! Just started watching and like what I see. Thank you for the FREE entertainment/education!
Man, I don't know how you do it. I really enjoy your content, yeah, absolutely forget the haters man, your car, do as you please. Such skills, amazing. Plus I love your eh, whatever attitude, lol, it's the best.

Hi Brent ,just put LS in it your making it a driver. I got a 50 Merc 4 door and I got a 350 with a turbo 400 in it . Rockauto is not the best place for this car I know. But there are plenty of other places to get parts for it, believe me. As for the strange U-joint it was used in fords up to about 1958 and merc up to same. Some early 50's Olds and Pontiac's used it too. I was looking to change my rear axle to and checking some 70's and 80's Ford E 150 style vans . I want to keep my stock wheels .
The beginning of your music almost sounded like it was the beginning of the song, red, red, wine!!! To bad about copy rights!!! Thanks for sharing Brent!!
Forget the haters. It is your car and you are getting it back on the road! That is great in itself! Good video as always.

Another nice project finding parts my be a small challenge but with your talent it will get done no worries 👍

Yeah! Carona and I watched on a HOT Saturday afternoon before I fire up the Snapper and go mow! You are pretty skillful with that skidsteer!
Here to watch another build project..Thank you

Agree with you completely. Better to get out on the road and be used, than to wait (in vain) for an original renovation that will never be done.

Kanter is usually a good source for obsolete brake, steering and suspension components. They're not cheap like Rock Auto unfortunately.
Hey Mortske we're watching the same channel haha!
I watch your channel too. Never miss an episode.
@@nicolatesla768 Much appreciated!
I am not a big LS swap fan, but I can see the point on these old cars and it gets them back on the roads where they belong and not just rusting away.
Your car - your choice. Everyone else can play with their own toys …💪👍🏼
The music you put in when moving it into the shed suited it perfect haha and it wants a 351 Cleveland lol
Good driver. Love the Suicide doors.
Pelle in Stockholm here. LS! YEA!
It's your car, put whatever you want in it...
351 Windsor would be nice but if you aint got one then you aint got one. Whatever it takes. Looking forward to this build.
I have done a few 4 doors and just put them on caprice frames then put an LS in it such a nice car after that and not very much work amazing driver
