Good man Charlie doing a proper day’s work like myself ( I’m 58 and still cracking on and laying and providing for my family like yourself - you’re probably never change it’s just in you to work like that it’s addictive i reckon - I like how you show the young fellas the right way of doing things and you’re making decent trowels out of them well done you 🍀👍
I like your work ethic Charlie....i myself frequent the building sites come rain or shine though im the one stuck in the hole jointing for the services, im a believer in organisation and prep, your day can be so much easier
Proper graft today Charlie on your lonesome. Top job bro. Just one point though the Labourer also feels knackered the next day, but that doesn’t make any difference when the labourer is there the bricklayers just always want them to do more & more without having the worry how they’ll feel the next morning!!! No chance a labourer can say let’s leave the others till tomorrow as I’ll be toiling 👍😅
My hat off to you. In 42 years in the building game I stuck it for 2 years on sites. It bored the living daylights out of me, but 10 out of 10 to all those who can stick it.
I once laid £4000 worth one day but was shattered so only did £2900 the next day , luckily the labourer came back in so it was back to normal and we did half day Friday for £3500 (gave him£100)in the pub for 12 .
Charlie, I've used them trench block for years but used to put a perp on them.... obviously they are T and G, does the clerke of works or inspector have an opinion on putting a cross jointing or ?? I don't myself anymore and it's so much faster....
Hoddy for 6 & 1. Obviously couldn’t keep up especially without a bath. 2 x 4”solids was normal and if we were pushed, 3 x 4” solids up a ladder without a telehand or forky I was fitter than a butcher’s dog. Back then, I’d pick up 2 x 4” solids above my head no problem. I definitely couldn’t do that now though
Fair play that you can get away with not perping your block never been allowed where I’ve worked because it’s weaker there not exactly a TandG bond half them don’t even interlock … very relaxed with regs down south… good for you like…
from a little google search either -255mm 18,1kg -275mm 19,6kg -300mm 21,3kg -355mm 25,3 kg can,t really pick it up from the camera but going by width of his hands i think its the 355mm thick heaviest ones. i can see why he is tired laying those for hours.😉
Mate you are top dog at laying bricks, I’d love to work on site with you as a Labourer, it’s a joy to watch the skill you have, which it really is bro. You seem a good crack and I can see how lads learn from watching you and listening to you on sites
back in the 80/s 9 inch solid concretes around london on the office block basements , 8 course lifts , southern counties brickwork dave milburn a geordie , if he caught 2 bricklayers laying course 8 ONE BLOCK ONE MAN ...tosser ,those blocks rightly got banned and fucked up many men
Remember them mate- Joe 90s who couldn’t remember them / I remember a bricklayer bringing a soaked one home and putting it in the middle of his front room and saying to his wife (now you think you’ve had a hard day now move that ) 😂👍🍀
@@shanesullivan5656 M8 I can’t believe your experience sounds exactly like the job I had in Edinburgh. We had a company called Apple-Cross who went into liquidation with the crash. Anyway as you say we had to build with those bad boys when they already had been told that there to be banned & bought them on the cheap but just as you said we had a gaffer who made us work with them on your own at up to the steel height first lift and the whole job. It was complete torture. The houses were to be many millions worth in a rich area. Hence no kit all steel & block All the old school bricklayers were going crazy too & me being young and new to the trade was my immediate thought I can’t handle this job. I realised that they would not be allowed again but we had this site that was huge & we built with them for another year before the job was finished & so was all our jobs. The work dried up completely & we had to do anything to make money but as you said one guy had a stroke on site & a few others strained backs & wrists etc. 🧱. ✌️👍✌️
Nice mate top level tradesmen. I’m going back into bricklaying after 15 years away due to your vids and making it look a lot More efficient. Any chance of tutorial vid on how your perp concrete blocks sir all the best
way to go charlie. i allways spread mi muck for foundation blocks with a small shovel.saves the wrists and elbows but shit for the labourer.he ends up having to grow two more arms.and roller skates.🤣🤣🤣
Yeah & could you imagine the labourer saying something like let’s not do the other 50 trench this afternoon because I’ll be to knackered tomorrow!!! 👍✌️👍
In der Steinzeit war es nicht so umständlich. Fahrt lieber auf einem Piratenschiff wieder zur See und plündern andere Länder aus . Das hab ihr drauf gehabt 😅😅😅
I would love to see someone try that in the super trowel there is a video the channel is roh brickwork and the guy made a video like a month ago were he was building a 8in or 9in brick wall and he was spreading the wall with the shovel and laying one side overhand like in the super trowel
Back in the day I did 120 8 inch solid concrete blocks in a day, before they where banned, never mind the next day, my back was f**** no labourer, loaded out on my own, and halfway up a scaffolding, did you ever lay those 8 inch solid blocks, jesus they where heavy
If I was a bricky with your speed.... Jesus man, id work from sun up to sun down or until they kicked me off site. I couldn't pack up at 2pm. I would earn every penny physically possible until I'd got some serious money behind me to start flipping properties or better yet, buying land to build my own! Get a plot for 4 houses. The first one pays for the job and the other 3 are all profit. You could be churning out a mil profit a year or more quite easily. Especially if your capable, I know a lot of brickies can only lay but you seem to be a fairly capable guy, you could build partition walls, you could tape and joint for plastering, you could kitchen fit, although you would need practice to get the Mason mitre joints right on worktops, a sheet of mdf will give you plenty of practice though. You would only need a gas guy for the boiler and a sparky. The rest you could do im sure. I'd rather be doing that than laying 7 to 10k bricks a week for the rest of my life!
Good man Charlie doing a proper day’s work like myself ( I’m 58 and still cracking on and laying and providing for my family like yourself - you’re probably never change it’s just in you to work like that it’s addictive i reckon - I like how you show the young fellas the right way of doing things and you’re making decent trowels out of them well done you 🍀👍
If only half the population knew what it takes to build.
I like your work ethic Charlie....i myself frequent the building sites come rain or shine though im the one stuck in the hole jointing for the services, im a believer in organisation and prep, your day can be so much easier
I worked with a bricky who used to bring his wife and son out to labour to him if he was working on a Sunday and nobody wanted to work 😂
Working on your own and having to mix your muck is bloody hard work. Physically and mentally!!
Makes sense what you said about leaving early,i work on my own and do 8 hrs..massive retainer, mixing, laying blocks…
Proper graft today Charlie on your lonesome. Top job bro. Only just discovered this channel but so glad I did , loving the content keep it up mate 🙌
Proper graft that solo, nice one Charlie
What's ur plans for this year's have you got a plan for more videos or GP?
My hat off to you.
In 42 years in the building game I stuck it for 2 years on sites.
It bored the living daylights out of me, but 10 out of 10 to all those who can stick it.
Bricklaying without a labourer every bloody Monday 😂😂
I once laid £4000 worth one day but was shattered so only did £2900 the next day , luckily the labourer came back in so it was back to normal and we did half day Friday for £3500 (gave him£100)in the pub for 12 .
And then you woke up and smelt the coffee 😅
Моё уважение Чарли.
Muck up !!!
Lost count how many times heard that .
Loved my time as a hoddy
Top grafting 👍
All these videos (including this one) is inspiring I’ll be honest 😎. Wouldn’t mind trying a bit of hod carrying. Up the brickes and hoddies 💪
Charlie, I've used them trench block for years but used to put a perp on them.... obviously they are T and G, does the clerke of works or inspector have an opinion on putting a cross jointing or ?? I don't myself anymore and it's so much faster....
No cross joint, check the manufacturers spec 👍
Hoddy for 6 & 1.
Obviously couldn’t keep up especially without a bath.

You don't mess about do you! Bloody awesome work. Loving this channel btw. You are a good role model.
Reminds me of Dad Charlie, head down arse up just need you to sing Danny Boy like he did bless
Great video
What's a trench block weight?
And if you could tell me what does a 4 and 6 inch block weigh as well.....thx
That hair style switch at 1:10 🤣
Got electrocuted
See a ghost 😂
Fair play that you can get away with not perping your block never been allowed where I’ve worked because it’s weaker there not exactly a TandG bond half them don’t even interlock … very relaxed with regs down south… good for you like…
Them trench blocks look 👀 Farley heavy so don't blame you not killing your self great video as always 👌👌💪💪
Billy Mountain Goat at it again!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Good earner them block dont think they excist up north, never seen the perpless trench 👍
Serious graft mate
You got to want it.
How much do one of them blocks weigh
Back breaking work mate
Sort that Barnet out boy. 😂😂😂 half day and get up the Turkish barbershop ❤
Shovel of gobbo in one hand and a wet trench block in the other , wots up ya girl 😅😅😅👍👍
Should you not have wet the founds in the trench first before laying the block?
How come your footings are always level. In my day they were miles out. They could be a foot difference from one end to the other old brickie
Good point mate, I am usually picking up at least 40mm on the lowest point ,on a good footing
Absolute Trooper
How much do you get paid per trench block?
You won't need the gym later matey..😁
Fair play Charlie!
Also Loving the long handle trowel..🤪
What do the blocks weigh?
Hi chas like the new trow.
I remember years ago there was a thing in the paper about a hod carrier he did 2 hods at a time and made a fortune , was he called super hod?
No problem to Charlie boy a breeze m8🏴
Dumb question - is there a reason the mortar is chopped up into those wee humps?
Great job mate
Charlie, what weight are the trench blocks?
from a little google search either
-255mm 18,1kg
-275mm 19,6kg
-300mm 21,3kg
-355mm 25,3 kg
can,t really pick it up from the camera but going by width of his hands i think its the 355mm thick heaviest ones.
i can see why he is tired laying those for hours.😉
On a price per block can u make more money with or without a labourer
You will always need a good carrier, your wage is more than his .while you are labouring, you are not earning
Easy money 💰 💪🏿
Always makes sense to use a shovel to lay the bed why move it more than you need to get it on the wall job done
Is this Waverley?
I am a Bricklayer , great that you show what we have to endure on a daily bases
Well said brother 🍀👍
Exactly.
I’m in my last year of school and looking to get in to bricklaying, would u recommend?
They really left the site in rough condition for him
@craigadair128 the ground workers are special but if you have their back up then
6:55
Good man Charlie built like an earthworm 😅
Top man wurzel
Rocks whilst cleaning mixer? Dislodge any build up of muck over the day I guess??
That is a proper full head of hair haha
Mate you are top dog at laying bricks, I’d love to work on site with you as a Labourer, it’s a joy to watch the skill you have, which it really is bro. You seem a good crack and I can see how lads learn from watching you and listening to you on sites
Us labourers love footings..
How come don’t need perps on first row?
@04:41 how deep/wide does the foundations need to be?
thats plot specific

Show that mixer who's boss Charlie!
Hey Charlie why did you not joint the bottom row in that footing? Was that to let the water 💧 run out or did you get lazy?
Interlocking mate, no joints anywhere :-)
Barnet of doom
Washout best sound of the day
Top boy
Was waiting to see what time you knocked.
Perps not included?
Why not just use bricks to wash mixer takes half the time
Should have phoned umbro!
Nice mate top level tradesmen. I’m going back into bricklaying after 15 years away due to your vids and making it look a lot

Hello 🎉🎉
Worked by myself for years set on average 5oo brick or 200 block a day im 65
You are talking sense mate ,a change to the £4000 pound a day dreamers
way to go charlie. i allways spread mi muck for foundation blocks with a small shovel.saves the wrists and elbows but shit for the labourer.he ends up having to grow two more arms.and roller skates.🤣🤣🤣

Hmmmm. How does the muck magicly appear?
What a gangster , casually using a shovel like a trowel 😂 love that
You pissed off the laborers again?
Who thought at a quick glance all them bags were from aldi 😂
That shovel is a belting trowel love it 😂😂
Clean that shovel like it's your trowel
Why not ask subscribers if they want to spend a day on site with you? Insurance implications maybe?
Wow, i cant believe you don't know how to open the paper bag quick.
Didn't realise you don't have to compo the perps wicked
In the plastering game work a 730 8 till 2 clean up @#$% off home live too fight another day 👍
Well done mate 👏 👍 good day work 😊thanks again for your video 📹 still living the dream 😅
In der Steinzeit war es nicht so umständlich. Fahrt lieber auf einem Piratenschiff wieder zur See und plündern andere Länder aus . Das hab ihr drauf gehabt 😅😅😅
Not your fault, but I see the concrete footing hasn't got the correct width in places, groundworkers for you, 😂😂
Id rather have finished that L shape chaza before you left 😂😂😂
Me to ime 64 and a plasterer and ime still working like ime in my 40s no lie just fit and strong and love my job
Hand mix. That’s a tough gig.
Shovel spread practice for supertrowel final Charlie? 🤣
I would love to see someone try that in the super trowel there is a video the channel is roh brickwork and the guy made a video like a month ago were he was building a 8in or 9in brick wall and he was spreading the wall with the shovel and laying one side overhand like in the super trowel
😂 my trowel is like a shovel
Why do people draw all over themselves?
Back in the day I did 120 8 inch solid concrete blocks in a day, before they where banned, never mind the next day, my back was f**** no labourer, loaded out on my own, and halfway up a scaffolding, did you ever lay those 8 inch solid blocks, jesus they where heavy
