He listens to everything Charlie said and applied it. An apprentice with interest and eager to learn makes teaching so much easier.
The apprentice took it all on board. He's a keeper Charlie
Fair play to mike! A year in doing it he seems very keen which is very good and rare nowadays! Don’t worry about the money for now gain the knowledge and the money will come and his work is also very neat for a year in apprentice
done really well for only a year, hardest bit is the technique and where to stand whist building. top brickie in the making
Pure Class this Charlie, It's brilliant that you're passing on the knowledge, you've got a good lad there. Just really good to see/watch you passing on the skills
forget about price, take it all in. money will come with Charlie's knowledge
Its good to have a brain like a sponge when working with skilled trades men soak up as much info as possible like u sed money will come
He seems very keen which is the most important thing.
doesnt even look like work, just looks like 2 guys having a good time
Mate - As soon as I saw this fella slinging his muck down the line, he is better than every single year 1 or year 2 apprentice or improver I've seen. Then taking on the pick and dip. Mustard for a year on the trowel and better than improvers 1 year in.
The advantage improvers have over apprentices is they get to see probably 20+ bricklayers techniques and the pluses and minuses before deciding on whats good and if they were a good hoddy they will have the ear and teachings of said bricklayer that they served once they have pulled out the trowel.
Also the fella had the confidence to put the camera hat on as well. I see promise here no doubt, which is why Charlie saw something and was showing his technique and thought process throughout. This short video is paramount to the difference in confidence and application for the 1st year trainee brickys.
Thumbs up.
Great effort by the lad
👍 Good to see apprentices doing a good job.
Young Man a Fast Learner
Mate you have a keen, humble smart young fella there. Follows instructions and isn’t afraid to try a different way.
Learn all ways and choose what suits you. Keep him!
It's nice to see some youngsters wanting to learn and do well. Very good job fare play to him and if he sticks with Charlie he be a very top bricklayer in a few years 👌👌
Fair play to the young lad and fair play to you Charlie for makeing time for the young man ❤
He is doing a great job for only doing it for 1 year, knowledge and great experience will come with Charlie’s guidance and skills keep up the good work your a natural it seems.
Nice work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Its been long time since last time watching your video. Your channel grow from 20k to 1.25mil. Congrats
I am not a brick layer, but people think it is a semi skilled job, but to do it well and fast their is a lot skill and thought. My Grand Father trained as a brick layer but did not finish his apprentice ship because of the First World War, so he only worked as a labourer. But he worked with a brickie and did all the hard bits, like brick arches where you could rub the bricks to get good joints, keep going mate.
Good luck to ya mate fair play 🙌🙌🙌
slow is smooth and smooth is fast
and that lad is smooth af😂😂
I love the video. This actually makes me so sad. Last time I layed brick’s I built an extension with my dad (who passed away recently). I haven’t layed bricks for a while and the other day I found out how good my dad was at bricklaying and regret and wish I got him to teach me before he passed. It’s definitely something I would love to do to honour him but it’s been some time since I layed a brick
Great teacher, and lucky bloke. Funny I also learned something about pointing watching that. Intrigued how long after starting laying the soldiers did you start the pointing - how best to keep an eye on it when to start the pointing? (I've only ever done small mixes that prob go off faster due to slow handling - no hoodie 😊)
Impressed with the young lad.
Well done the young fella, for the good work as well as willing to have himself on camera. Good on you for having him out Charlie
Well said 🍀👍
Fair play to the lad👌👌
Well done to the lad.
Good lad go far
First rule of Bricklaying always hit your mates level never your own
Lovely old job
gonna be a good lad
Just passed my CSCS test last week and studied bricklaying in college . I left college in 2021 but had to take care of my mum. It’s a nightmare mate where I’m based no one is looking for apprentices and they just don’t seem interested in teaching people in my area
That's the trouble finding people who actually care about the trade enough that are willing to teach. You might be better off trying to find a local builder who does good quality work than trying to get on site right away.
no insulation ?
@@user-xz3iv6tw2iwhat on a garden wall 😂

Nice one Charlie, nice to see knowledge, encouragement and praise being given to youngsters coming through. 😊
Well done kid the years will fly by before you know it you can live a nice life just keep listening and you won't Evan realize how much you are learning .
Eyup Charlie where did you buy your block splitter from trying to find one seem like rocking horse droppings ?
Looks just as good as yours from where i am looking
He’s better than the lad who’s worked with us for 5 years 😂 seems a good lad !
Does it really matter how you butter the fuckin brick, some folk wipe their arse back to front and say they're right
Dude you are an awesome teacher
Fair play Charlie mate
You are halfway there if your keen and ready to learn 🙌
I was laying reclaimed London yellows today. Bloody awful things, frog down is the only way to tampthem down ? Thoughts
bloor homes have an apprenticeship program that’s pretty good as well
I'm so glad you said that about how he was buttering the brck it looked so awkward 😂.
Good lad and seems keen which is great to see.
I suppose like you said there's more than one way to skin a cat .
I really wish I got into a trade, I’m 25 and I only just realised it was the best path forward for me. Apprenticeships only get given to 16-24 year olds in Scotland. Gutted.
Aahhh. The art of stacking bricks neatly 😅
Respect 🫡
The goodns always hang around, have a feeling he'll be a regular face now. Sponge it up mate 👍
I’ve been doing it 40 years plus and you’ve got it or you ain’t/ the boys got it for sure (nice one Chas for putting him right with a few things good man 🍀👍
Total respect Charlie them few hours with you are priceless... Well done both of you
Well done Mike keep up your great work and listen to Charlie but don't let him do your head in lol
I think you’ve got one there chazza, he’ll earn your gang some good money down the line, Tom can be full time laying bricks whilst he does the hod and lays once loaded out

Get him on your team Charlie a good lad
LEE MARLEY!
aye he,s a gud,n ..your voice was grinding charlie
The best qualities in a boss/ bloke is being tough in general, but still able to have a laugh & most importantly give credit when credit is due.
Onya Charlie.
22 years as a Copper and after watching this channel I feel I’ve made a wrong choice in life!! Better pay, free exercise and skills!! 😅
But a much better pension in your line of work.
@@martin2466 Pensions in the public sector since the recession are not a skin of what they used to be and so opinions of that need to change, gone are the cooshy old school finally salary pensions that the likes of British gas, royal mail, police force etc etc that were common for the 90's.
What in the north east council estate is going on here?!?!
Hes a keeper Charlie, just guide him with a bit of your wisdom and the lad will do well, fingers crossed mate!
Great video ! Take him under your wing Charlie he’s got the making of a great bricklayer
Not a huge fan of Winchmore Brickwork but credit where credit's due: They teach and treat their young apprentices properly.
Get the wd40 out clean up engineering bricks up lovely even a bit of baby oil
Sign him up Charlie 😂
You gotta wet them boards up boi! all the muck stick to it and sap the life out of it. Top job Mike, Charlie will double Your speed with half the effort in no time.
I've never laid a brick...I do enjoy brick laying videos. Some guys I can't watch. Charlie has this rhythm and is tasty. Makes moves count. Stu is another English bricklayer...only 2 I watch. Stu and his father do those replacement window videos...Great work.
Some fellows do to much playing with the mud...anyways I do enjoy the content.....
All the best from Chicago
I met my old college lecturer and he said his last intake of apprentices was two. When I done my time there was 22 in my first year. No young ones interested in wanting a trowel in there hands shame really.
If only all Gaffers were like that.
Not a negative comment but I’d say try a smaller trowel best of luck to you m8 you seem like a great young man
Do you think it's worth becoming a bricklayer today?
nah mate it's saturday, wait until monday...
If you want to do it ya can make good money however I’m 22 now ag college doing level 1 and it’s shite better off getting apprenticeship which I’m trying to but it’s hard
Hard to get an apprenticeship I mean * especially where I live north east nowt going
@@brandonwright9031 Is it really good though with how much work you have got to do and how much everything costs now.
@@brandonwright9031 Is it good money though with how much work you have to do and with how much everything costs now?
I would pouch him for sure seem a natural
Think he wants a job with you
Not bad at all I have scene worse off qualified bricklayers
You got to leave the apprentice alone a bit he looks comfortable enough let him breathe
Wear gloves. You’ll be glad you did when you eventually reach 50.
Junge junge junge, noch mal mit der Kelle im Mörtel rumspielen bis der einen Stein hin hat hätte ich die Schicht 2 mal fertig. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
1.24 million subs and not a lot of views, what’s the crack??
Bought the subs or one of the subscribers done the dodgy - I doubt Charlie cares as long as YT are paying well per month which I think they probably do.
Charlie discussed the rough figure a month he gets if he uploads a coupla vids a week a while back. It takes a lot of patience, confidence and effort to film the work you do, get home and then edit and upload it for a load of strangers to comment, criticize or critique it so to speak.
He's mustard as a trowel.
Absolutely brilliant to see you taking the time with mike .bit of light banter and praise for his work will give him confidence and make him want more .A real shame the industry is let down by a lack of apprenticeships The government should be ashamed the lot of em Charlie 👍🧱🧱🧱
TOM MAKES BETTER GLUE! 🫣
GSQ, I wonder if greenie still works for them
He certainly does 👍🏻
@@CharlieCollison bless him, where you boys working
