I’m a Scottish bricklayer and we’ve always dpc our sills but foam under them to stop them cracking never heard of that ever it a traditional built house so no movement and their is know weight on them pre cast sills other than at the stool ends that is a bad detail and will cause problems further down the line
You should always put dpc when putting in cills... but never seen foam under one in my life. The regs in uk are shocking when it comes to dpc and insulation compared to ireland
@@thrandumbguy You must only bed the Cills on the Stools and point under the rest or they will crack, you don't need the foam but it's negligible in downward movement and just makes the pointing bit easier.
At least you get something for it our brick baron just keeps adding more like this damp shit and building in air vents with trays over but pays you nothing for it and it’s another tray to clean Feel like I’m a cavity cleaner not a bricklayer these days I really hate this industry
Dont know what to make of the timber clamps, looks to easy to knock spraling around under them, a blake would seem alot easier to setup and work around no timber to carry either
You will get to a point where you get sick of site work and hopefully be able to tell yourself what to do. I did and do👍and miss out the middle man who thinks he knows better than u😂
On the Isle of Man we’ve always had to rap all our cills, been laying 20 years and it’s always been that way. Also Do you get paid solid as seen a video the other day saying you don’t over there? 👍🏼
@@babydeacon That's composite stone, not sandstone, plus it's a cavity wall, surely you wouldn't want to hold water there in case it freezes? I don't get it, I know it's what we are asked to do now but it's a load of bollocks!
@@suemarsden7249 Yes, they are composite stone, can you imagine large house builders splashing out on real stone? LOL! They use the cheapest materials they can get away with, just for profit, I've used some appalling bricks the last few years, wire cut crap that I wouldn't even call real bricks, and this goes on throughout the build for every trade. We are trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear!
We put a strip of insulated dpc on the back of the cills and return the blockwork up to the cill. Same around all window and door reveals, it gives a strong well insulated structure at all openings.
The world needs more tradesmen like changy. Stay legendary!
Love the videos it’s fantastic to see skilled tradesmen at work
Looking good Changy, if only the brickies I have to follow were half as good as you I would be a very happy chippy!
Prepping and planning is the key
the rewind was so satisfying
Love the reverse laying

Someone putting cills in correctly at last 👍👌
Please explain what purpose it serves?
@@cheds1 What? The tray or only bedding the stools.

It's all changing back end of the year, eventually I think they will all go stainless
How much £ do you get to put the damp and weep holes on that stone mate
50plm

Love the foam 😂👍🏻 Knock out
It’s a slip tray to allow movement in the stone and not the full masonry

Tidy Brickwork 🧱 Changy 👍
Great video adding Music too Bud

What trowel is that you use
changy why dont you put a internal profile with 2 sticks when your young lad is building the garage up? no levelling then :)
Don't you guys have to put window formers inn,?

Dumb question prob. (Not in the building trade BTW). You laid 8 courses of blocks then 1 course of "quarter blocks", why????
Talk about efficiency gotta stay off the packets Ken you know what i means save a few quid 💸💸💸
The packets stay far away Kenny
I thought Brad trowels were done. Marshall town all day long

No we don't but there are plenty of places that do, I've never come across it
Never seen this with stone sills
Don't you boys have a tray all way round perimeter at bottom,is that just a northern thing?
Over vents
I followed all your vidio great construction happy to see this🏗️🏘️
why do they put expansion under the cills? genuine question
So they don't break

Chang, who is Kennie ?and why haven't we seen him ever?
It was their old neighbour as kids I'm sure, when he'd be explaining stuff he would always say "are you with me?"
Yes it was Ken the sparky from next door
Nice one cheers

What kind of wall tie?
@@Changy_C just normal stainless steel cavity ones changy about 220mm long

Nhbc isn't a standard, it's just an insurance product.
Can anyone give me a good reason why we are putting trays under cills? I can't think of any benefit.
To stop water tracking through the stone. Cos they only sandstone they absorb water.
They look like precast concrete to me not stone!
