The best explanatory video I’ve seen so far about the actual settings rather than becoming a deep dive in what bit rate and base canvas actually is. Great video!
Opening OBS as Administrator on the computer helped me stream my games smoother. I don't know why, but after changing a lot of the settings. Opening as Administrator has helped A LOT. Anyways, great content!
Windows has mad issues with resource management so when you set it as administrator it took the priority and set it to obs it definantly helps i do it everytime.
If GPU utilisation is above 95% Windows 10 prioritises your game which can cause stream lag. OBS Ver. 24.0.3 prioritises OBS over the Game if you Run as Administrator
Found your channel recently and after the first video I watched i subscribed. There are tons of "best settings for OBS videos," but this is by far the most concise and intuitive video available. Excellent on all counts!
Another great video! This explains further the info in last year’s “Fix Your Stream” video. I’ve been watching you for almost a year and I finally feel I understand how all this mumbo jumbo relates and works. Thank you!
Your explanation on the video output (base canvas etc) really helped. Thank you so much for helping us understand so we can do what we need for our machines. Subscribed for that!
Hello I have been watching your videos for a while now and there is one question I have for you if you can answer this for me how do you cut in and out, do you use the settings on your camera or some kind of software? And can you please do a behind the scenes look on this?
Do you recommend to have your cameras capturing live in the same video format you're streaming in as well?? I'm guessing so, this way I save from any system resources from converting.
I really appreciate your videos, I will definitely ask you please make a video installing the pluging StreamFX (Blur,Depths) on Mac Big Sur please I don’t know how to do it. Thanks.
Thanks Michael, this really helped me understand the settings better. I'm using a Mac, have you had any success using the mac graphics card? I hear it doesn't work well with OBS. I'm am using x264 and my CPU runs at between 6-7% when I stream.
11:30 It's a total pain to readjust assets from a 1080 to 720 resolution on the base canvas, so I don't. I simply leave the base Base (Canvas) Resolution at 1080p, and change the Output (Scaled) Resolution to 720. This takes quite a bit of stress off your PC while allow you to maintain your assets positioning. I agree it will be far easier on your system to have both base and output resolutions at 720p, however, mileage varies depending your individual computer so what works for me may not work for you. You have to test and retest until your stats are showing positive results.
I'm running OBS 26.1.0 on my iMac 27. I downloaded it a couple weeks ago, but my settings screen doesn't have the same ones you're showing. For example, my output screen lacks the "look ahead" and "Psycho Visual Tuning" check boxes. Other settings on other screens you show are absent as well. I'm getting frustrated with OBS because even though I've now had four more or less successful live streams (minus all my learning curve glitches), I don't feel that I'm any closer to optimizing my system. Maybe I'll just go over to melon...
hello, mr. feyrer. i love your videos as someone new to obs.ever since i found one of your videos, i've been following you. but i have a favor to ask. please do a video, or maybe advise me if your already have one, my problem is that i am using the stream elements' version of obs so i don't find in my settings the options you have when you're fine tuning your obs which is by streamlabs. i am also using a laptop with only the basic specs. and my internet speed for upload is only between 1.something, not and never reaching 2.0. please help coz im a public school teacher trying to stream my lessons live for my students. by the way, although i have a youtube channel, im streaming through facebook instead coz that's the most affordable platform for my students. thanks and looking forward.
thanks, can you do a video on making a file for scenes and sources? I have a weekly video, I add 4 or 5 new topics for each video, 5 x52(weeks)= 260 images I had to add a pulse button to looking for a specific image, Another problem is the pulse button I think I'm recording but I'm still on pulse.(add alert sound) ?
I got a weird issue and I need help…. I got a 3700x, 32gb Ram and a 6700XT, I don’t have any skip, drop or miss frame… everything is in green on my connection at 720p 60fps with 4000kbps but If I check my livestream on my phone it lags… When I connect my phone to Wifi, the livestream is normal… I check the internet speed of my phone without wifi and is around 30mb/s Maybe just maybe I’m going crazy about it….. I got friend that they watch my stream on their way home and can’t even watch sh!t but after I’m done… the recording works fine on LTE 🤯 I just don’t know what to do anymore, just keep doing my best so I can get to affiliate so my viewers can change the quality?
So what if you are trying to have a guest on zoom and conduct an interview using streamlabs obs. I downloaded ndi but it's still a blank screen. I have a blue yeti mic so hopefully maybe you can help?
Michael Need your help. I have 2 monitors 165 (downgraded to 120) and one more 60. When i have open obs without start stream or record i have stutter on my main gameplay . But.... If i minimize obs from second monitor or if i have obs on main monitor the problem FIX and the game its very smooth ! Why that happen and how can i fix it? I read a lot of forums with the same problem but nothing solution.
Hi Michael, another great video! I have similar settings however I have a perplexing problem... my broadband service is 500mb Download and 50mb upload. I'm getting on average 310mb Down and 44mb UP, strangely when I open OBS Studio, my Download drops dramatically to around 127mb sometimes lower... Exit OBS Studio and upload speed goes back up to 300+, download 40+...can't make sense of it...any suggestions...Many Thanks Marc

Thank you for this, how do you avoid the cameras 30 min outo shutoff?
Your explanation on the video output (base canvas etc) really helped. Thank you so much for helping us understand so we can do what we need for our machines. Subscribed for that!
Awesome! So glad to help.
My internet provider is horrible - but it is all we have out in the boonies right now. LOVE your video - thanks for being real!

Thanks Michael...I haven't had any problems with my machine!!
Awesome tips... didn't know about Base & Output resolution & assets all having to match... Thanks!
Always good to follow along with you in your videos. You break it down and simplify it. Thank you for your awesome videos.
Do you recommend to have your cameras capturing live in the same video format you're streaming in as well?? I'm guessing so, this way I save from any system resources from converting.
Wonderfull information, you are the best.
Glad to help!
Thanks for another helpful vid Michael👍🤟🤙
As always, terribly helpful stuff! Even though I usually use OBS to record things but any familiarity with OBS is helpful and transferable.
What app do you use for your thumbnails?
Photoshop.
Is photoshop £$£?
Subscribed mate! Awesome content
What does the auto-configuration wizard do? *Does it have anything to do with these settings? Thanks!
Great Video! Wanted to post great things about the video but i’m busy watching other videos. 😅
Glad to help.
Your videos are really helpful! Now i’m addicted to your channel! 😂
Great video, thanks Michael. You are also looking great on the video. :)
Thanks!

Macs with cards won’t use them for encoding anyway unfortunately. X264 is what you have to use.

Absolutely.
Does this address when both video & Audio are in perfect sync but there is a 7 sec delay between your actions and the output in TWITCH?
Thank you. You are doing great.
Subbed great tips!
Thanks!
Thanks this was really useful
Thank You So much

I’ll have a twitch video coming soon that should help. It’s possible you don’t have all the settings proper.
So what if you are trying to have a guest on zoom and conduct an interview using streamlabs obs. I downloaded ndi but it's still a blank screen. I have a blue yeti mic so hopefully maybe you can help?
Already subbed and like your videos

2 monitors with the same refresh rate would probably resolve the issue.
very useful 👌
