Professor in your quest for clicks have you ever considered you are breeding a toxic environment for stores and people who sell these products for a living? While big entities like Hasbro and WOTC have shields to protect themselves from the public ire, smaller businesses/distributors do not. I think the Duskmourn set got moved up because of the new Foundations set that needed to get crammed in before the end of the year. Love Bloomburrow though.
Kind of. It makes sense from a business point to have it at the tail end of Sept (27th) so stores can stock up on it, people can playtest cards, and can place online orders (and receive them) through places like TCG and CardKingdom. If it came out on like Oct 20th or similar date, then by the time all the online orders have arrived, or people have decided if a certain card is a good add and worth adding, its practically November and most events hosting Halloween related events are already over
I’m looking forward to the wacky races set, I also find his description of Chandra wearing a racing outfit is funny since she’s been wearing goggles from the beginning.
21:45 Here's what I think: detectives, sure, but *on theme.* Make it more gothic horror style detectives in Innistrad. Or maybe steampunk detectives in Kaladesh. Solve mysteries in ways that make them feel like a natural part of the plane.
Bloomburrow would be a perfect set for a follow up that includes snow lands. You set it in winter and base it all around how all the animals of the valley deal and react to the changing of the season.
God prof you really spoke to me when you talked about your love language being arm punching and jokes. I'm exactly the same and often feel like I need to lay off a little but I just love being sarcastic 😂
Prof can be harsh but he has a kind heart, self calling himself out for bullying related joke, shows someone is well meaning even if they make a mistake. Tip my hat to you man, not easy to admit our mistakes. You're a good rolemodel, not tolerating your own mistakes but not bashing yourself too much either, good balance. Thanks for not edditing it out.
Dont encourage this. People should not have to "censor" themselves over innocent jokes that arent hurting anyone. Its a shame that we live in a world where we allow self important people to intimidate others this badly.
"Calamity's Dawn" or "Calamity's Legacy" would be a good second Bloomburrow set name. It can feature more lore about the time before Valley was settled and calamity beasts were more abundant and chaotic. "Beyond the Valley" could be a name for a return to the plane after a year or two, this time focusing on communities outside of the Valley settlement. There are other furry kingdoms out there and how they deal with the calamity beasts and each other can be very different from the communal vibe of Valley
Huh? everyone I know into Bloomburrow including me are people who liked stuff like Redwall growing up. I'm sure furries like it too, but people just like animals, man. Chill.
Prof talking about how meaningless it "would be" for the porcupine Domri to be the same Domri that we all saw dying..... meanwhile I'm still mourning for Tamiyo and then they give her the cutest bunny reprint ToT
This was just an overall wholesome video. Positive attitude towards the set, appreciation for the art end even some real live feel-good-vibes. I really enjoyed this one. Also, shout out to the hero editor that got you over the finish line with that Patchwork Banner 🎉
13:01 I think the release of Duskmorne is perfectly timed. If they release at the end of October, that's pretty much the moment all the decorations come down. You gotta go at the start of October to ride out the whole spooky season
Releasing Duskmourne in October makes sense but they could've pushed back Bloomburrow release to July so the timing is more spaced. But I guess they wouldn't do that because July needed to be Assassin's Creed.
Gad you're enjoying bloomburrow as much as I am! I opened a collector box knowing I wouldn't value out, but knowing I'd just enjoy it. Happy to see you doing so too!
Second Bloomburrow should be “A Calamity Among Us” to make sure to make it relevant to our fellow kids. But in all seriousness, “Beyond the Valley” is a good name for the next set, which would start in valley and then go outside of it, perhaps to go to Zinnia’s home. Zinnia is the bird commander btw.
I love “Beyond the Valley”. The one I thought of was “Calamity’s Wake” - basically a bunch of new Calamity beasts get created through some nefarious means and the gang (Mabel et al) has to figure out why.
I'm the same way about card frames now! I used to be hyped and would chase the showcase or alt for my cube, but now I just want my cube to match (ideally everything could be old bordered 😏) I will still run showcase and such in EDH though, since it works better when you're only running that one copy you opened in a collector's booster.
THANK YOU! (I complained last time so gratitude is due) sometimes I am only able to listen so I appreciate the Professor talking through the box openings. The reactions, guesses, explanations and tales are a lot of fun for a new sub like myself.
Feel like "Calamity's Fall" could've been a cool name for a hypothetical second Bloomburrow set. Also, great vid! Glad you were able to pull more than enough to cover the cost of both standard decks you wanna run
The professor stressing over the fact that he made a joke about furries and immediatly fearing repercussions and backpedalling due to the nature of his audience is hillarious 🤣
I am 100% with the professor on magic not needing "stranger things", cluedo, cowboy hats and all of that. Bloomburrow and Eldraine are the sets lately that feels most "magic" for me.
Yeah, I'm in the camp of really wishing we had at least one more set in Bloomburrow before moving along, even though I'm interested in Duskmorn. It could flesh out some of the mechanics more, shore up some strategies which didn't make as much of a splash as others. Plus people just love the plane. Also a second set could be something like "Calamity's Redemption"
The sequel from Bloomburrow should be named "Beyond the Valley". Why? Because the plane is called by the denizens as "the Valley". But you could introduce some of those sweets Universes Beyond cards such as Tyrannids. They are beyond the limits of bloomburrow and that's why nobody goes there!
32:39 Prof, that thing of people not understanding that you are being facetious or over-acting in your videos happens to every creator I've ever seen when they make jokes. Some people are just in team "I take everything at face value" and that will always be. You don't need to change, people will always over-interpret and make up non-existing drama when they have a parasocial relationship with a creator. I think it's a funny bit you do, I was even surprised you didn't brag more when you won the last Shuffle Up's commander game :). On a side-note, it's the same when people say that you are always negative about MtG, you keep repeating in every review that you love the game and this or that aspect of a set to reassure everyone, but we expect you to say it how it is when something is BS. You are doing a good job of that and it's why I watch. I'm not interested in reviews that are afraid to criticise a product or company.
I think the timing of DuskMorne is perfect for Halloween, after October it's other holidays in mind, so lots of Halloween magic party potential, but they are way too close on the heels of the previous sets for my pocketbook to even hope to keep up.
I still think that if you're a "value orientated" magic player then Bloomburrow will only go up as soon as they come back to these mechanics. I love this set. I'm tempted to buy another couple of boxes to help push the numbers up so that when nobody bothers with Duskmorne they start getting the hint. Maybe. A man can dream.
Thing is that those are they buy costs, but most people won't become a seller but rather sell the unwanted cards to a shop for less, so the fact you opened a pack and basically spent what you would buying the cards individually means it doesn't seem all that worth.
We got a Gev raised foil out of a box and a Baylen raised foil out of a single packet 😄 Extremely lucky pulls! I'm just in love with Bloomburrow, it's what brought me back to the hobby.
ditching the list really hurt the value in play boosters. instead of getting a list card in 1/5 packs we now get a 'special guest' in 1/64 packs. 20% to 1%. i used to pull list cards fairly often and i've hit exactly one special guest since they started doing those.
@@themoops4006 Nah I will take special guests any day over the list. 99% of the time the list was just bulk anyways. Atleast special guests all have some value and really good full art treatments.
@@dericplummer9272 so instead of just fixing the list and getting rid of the unplayable bulk and keeping the 20% pull rate they dropped the pull rate to 1% so you just never get the cards at all and this is a completely fine solution to you? stop defending wotc stripping value from their products for no reason.
@@themoops4006 I mean I only really play limited and open one bundle per set. My special guest drops have been pretty good. I have gotten a tireless tracker, prismatic vista, scapeshift, and 1 from mh3 I can't remember. You also don't want these showing up to much in Limited. I don't find the drop rates to be that bad and you want them to be special.
I am extremely excited for Duskmourn to be honest. And I like it being end of September so we get the full month of October for Halloween! If it came out too late - it gets overshadowed by Xmas. Give Duskmourn a chance! Don’t let MtG’s release schedule make you biased towards not liking it!
i usually never promote my channel or leave any comments. but i literally did the same intro to my collector booster box game that i uploaded a few hours ago 😂 as an homage to the professor of course
This set got me and my husband back into standard after 10 years. The set is so fun and we love the art (I personally love the squirrel arts) and we got lucky with our collector box. We pulled a Jace and 2 Lillianas (1 foil) among other money cards to break even. And yeah, definitely miss the 3 set block releases. I felt more involved with the story.
27:25 The second set would be called "Dawn's Truce". Block Constructed "third sets" tended to be named after the resolution to the block's story, not the climax per se.

Okay, so that's actually only $120.00 in cash or $144.00 store credit. DO NOT BUY SEALED.
Yeah. He’s gonna get his decks but it’s a crap value
Aren't the listed prices how much credit the store will give?
@jaywinner328 no, it's what the card is worth on secondary market. The store buys at less than half that usually
@@FuncleChuck I mean he is gonna get his money back by virtue of fans bidding. He could probably get the 235 off a 50 dollar card and his sig if he is good at auctioning.
I almost bought one at my lgs but it $280 so i said no 😂
Prof voice: "Do NOT pay markups!"
absolutely not worth it
@@Evoleo what would be msrp?
don't buy at Amazon ever
@Chickentorchic pretty sure I got mine for $225 usd
Ive been searching for a day and can somehow not find any news on that set. Could you maybe give me a pointer on where it was previewed or leaked?
21:45 Here's what I think: detectives, sure, but *on theme.*
Make it more gothic horror style detectives in Innistrad.
The Duskmourn release date seems to have been pushed back so that there would be a window for Foundations to release
Not including an animal version of Teferi in Bloomburrow was a missed opportunity for us to have Tefurry.
I mean, there is a reprint of tefurry, the time raveler in bloomburrow... Not cannon, but still bird Tefurry
But there is? He's a bird.
we actually have Tefurry, he is a Secretary Bird
@@Raro404 Seeing an animal themed set and immediately thinking it's gross and weird says more about you than anything else. Stay away from the zoo.
Huh? everyone I know into Bloomburrow including me are people who liked stuff like Redwall growing up. I'm sure furries like it too, but people just like animals, man. Chill.
I love the pack opening when the professor chats during it!
This guy is the Bob Ross of Magic the Gathering
I love your commentary in this video. Just a normal conversation with great insights. Love you Prof!
Prof talking about how meaningless it "would be" for the porcupine Domri to be the same Domri that we all saw dying..... meanwhile I'm still mourning for Tamiyo and then they give her the cutest bunny reprint ToT
RIP Tamiyo, at least Nashi is carrying on her legacy in a way.
@@kristiandahl1310Nashi is a good boy
This was just an overall wholesome video. Positive attitude towards the set, appreciation for the art end even some real live feel-good-vibes. I really enjoyed this one.
Also, shout out to the hero editor that got you over the finish line with that Patchwork Banner 🎉
As a commander player, watching you opening packs is both foreign and scary to watch lol.
Bloomburrow got me back into magic. I haven’t played magic in close to 8 years and when I saw the mouse on the booster I was sold lol
13:01 I think the release of Duskmorne is perfectly timed. If they release at the end of October, that's pretty much the moment all the decorations come down. You gotta go at the start of October to ride out the whole spooky season
Personally I would say start it in October, but yea it's pretty close to the right time
Releasing Duskmourne in October makes sense but they could've pushed back Bloomburrow release to July so the timing is more spaced. But I guess they wouldn't do that because July needed to be Assassin's Creed.
Gad you're enjoying bloomburrow as much as I am! I opened a collector box knowing I wouldn't value out, but knowing I'd just enjoy it. Happy to see you doing so too!
The segue is the reason I watched the promotional content. IT'S ALL COMIN' TOGETHER BABY!
I really like this videos, getting to hear the Prof just speak honestly about how he feels about cards is really nice!
If they wanted a spooky set after Bloomburrow they coulda got cute and made a spooky-themed 2nd set called Gloomburrow
That would have been so cool
Prof's excitement in the intro is palpable. Love it. Glad you're enjoying Standard. ❤
Yes on helix. Several times. One just via the mana portion, the other by moving tokens. Most people will not remove it because...it is helix pinnacle.
Pack opening drama so thrilling it could only be real. Amazing push across the finish.
I had more fun opening my collector booster box than any other opening in a long time.
It’s nice to have something so light hearted right now. :)
The professor stressing over the fact that he made a joke about furries and immediatly fearing repercussions and backpedalling due to the nature of his audience is hillarious 🤣
Its sad that we let these people bully or intimidate anyone in to anything. You wear tails ffs. Stop taking yourself so seriously. Nobody else does.
I haven't watched these in a while, I LOVE having the commentary / random conversation.
"but ya know, you gotta" lmao
I adore your playful glee, happiness and excitement about this set. It's lovely 😊
The monster Mabel fights? Bill Cipher.
Underrated comment
I love when Mr editor's personality comes through in text like at 33:30. Keep up the good work!!!
Yes! *proceeds to watch the whole video anyway*
I am 100% with the professor on magic not needing "stranger things", cluedo, cowboy hats and all of that. Bloomburrow and Eldraine are the sets lately that feels most "magic" for me.
7:07 we see him lose his Sanity in real time
I always love it when Prof guesses a card price and he severely overprices it.
08:16 Did not expect the MCU rant, but well appreciate it
These are my favourite episodes, you just chatting! Love to hear your thoughts and how you feel about the game.
I love how the professor has no clues on prices, except for the times he’s more on target than a navy sniper
"Twilight of Calamity". That would be a great follow up name for Bloomburrow.
Please have the editor add up your guesses the end!
Yes, always. Its literally just cardboard rectangles. Just buy singles. Love you professor.
I think the timing of DuskMorne is perfect for Halloween, after October it's other holidays in mind, so lots of Halloween magic party potential, but they are way too close on the heels of the previous sets for my pocketbook to even hope to keep up.
8:12 through 9:02 As I listen to the professor, nodding my head (in agreement) -- said nod starts to slow and intensify.
The Artwork in this set made me fall in love with MTG again.
Editor absolutely killed it with that 6 dollar common lol~!
Weird its like, wizards designed the packs so that you need to buy collector boosters for any value... probaby not intentionally
ditching the list really hurt the value in play boosters. instead of getting a list card in 1/5 packs we now get a 'special guest' in 1/64 packs. 20% to 1%. i used to pull list cards fairly often and i've hit exactly one special guest since they started doing those.
I've had like the exact opposite experience, if I pull another Endurance I'm gonna lose my shit
Don’t let MtG’s release schedule make you biased towards not liking it!
so when are you doing the booster box game with value boosters? value is in the name so they MUST be good!
I love the death gate cycle in the background. Think ill reread them =) ❤
i usually never promote my channel or leave any comments. but i literally did the same intro to my collector booster box game that i uploaded a few hours ago 😂 as an homage to the professor of course
This set got me to try Arena out again too! I even went in on the Mastery Pass for the first time since Forgotten Realms, I just adore Bloomburrow!!!
I noticed the different shine in the Foil lands with the 'Phyrexia: All will be one compleat' bundle.
You aren't crazy Professor, it's there.
27:25 The second set would be called "Dawn's Truce". Block Constructed "third sets" tended to be named after the resolution to the block's story, not the climax per se.
A+ editor for the sass at the end 😂. I love that “not even $2” became the phrase for the episode
