CCI Competition 22LR - Green Tag Special?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- Somewhat limited sample size, but this stuff is good. After the fact I did see it for $20 for 100 rounds which is a 1/3 less than what I paid for it at the time, so be it. Nevertheless, can you justify the cost when that Federal AutoMatch performs so well for 6cpr?

Thanks for your video Andrew. Good shooting. Always shoot 3-5 fauler shots between different brands of 22 LR.
Thanks. I keep forgetting to do so, lol
I get comparable performance with my Velictors at 25yds, no scope, 18" barrel, in an indoor range. Also shoot warm up with Winchester Wildcat bulk ammo, which has more feeding issues, with only slightly worse accuracy. Been shooting CCI for a long while. Most dependable for semi-auto action.
Thank you for your fine review and your precise shooting. (I was jealous of the last group)
...I found a 50 round box of that yesterday at the West Palm Beach 'Fairgrounds' show...IIRC I paid 20 bux a box...gratefully. I also bought two boxes of Eley target ammo for $20 ea....not gonna argue price over rare .22 precision ammo...
Good shooting , I have been told that you should shoot 5 to 10 rounds after you change kinds of ammo, then do the testing, they say it conditions the barrel to the ammo.
That's what people keep telling me. I'm going to have to stop switching and just do one brand and then the other.
I have shot CCI ammo for 50 years. My experience of late (3yrs) is that quality control is slipping at CCI. Once this ammo was the gold standard of low priced target/performance ammo for your 22lr. I recently ran out of a stash of 25yr old standard velocity. I still have some same vintage green tag. I purchased some new standard velocity approx 2 months ago and have been disappointed with the results. I can hear differences in report as well as flyers I can't account for. My shooting partner bought a thousand cci high velocity mini mags only to find they would not cycle his Taurus TRX reliability, either barrel. We loaded some mags with my Aquila 40 grain standard velocity and had no cycling issues whatsoever. My partner then called CCI to report the bad lot and was told to return the ammo to CCI. Some middle management person at CCI called him and said the ammo pressure tested fine and he should check his firearm. I know for a fact the ammo was defective, both my partner and I have been regular shooters for 50 plus years each. CCI sent him 900 rounds of different ammo back. He had purchased a 1000 rds. The more I shoot the Aquila 40 grain standard velocity extra, the less reason I see to purchase standard velocity CCI. I hope they will simply return to quality control and responsible customer service. I hate to think I have to go to an off continent manufacturer to get inexpensive and consistent ammo. CCI please pull it together.
22 Caliper rifles, especially semi-auto like the ten 22 a strange beasts. I have tried so many makes and models of 22 ammo, I have lost count. The CCI Green Tag was amongst the worst of them in my gun. Eley Force and Benchrest Outlaw are amongst the best.
Oh man it's a hot one here too, 105 f but only 8% humidity. Thanks for your dedication to the videos and suffering with the heat for us.
One thing that I would suggest, use targets with a cross in the center to give you a more consistent point of aim with your crosshairs. Also try out some subsonic ammo as well. CCI standard velocity is my favorite.
The groups starting getting better as the barrel was getting warmer and getting lined with lead. Automatch is awesome for the price.
Good stuff! Agree on the Automatch. $30 is steep. You'd be ill if you knew how affordable Green Tags were in the 90's. Green Tags and Eley Standards were a staple for 100 yard benchrest and squirrels. Regret not buying a skid of both ammo types
Green tag is 100% standard velocity with a different sticker !!! All their ammo is bulk ammo, done in the same factory, done exactly the same and slapped with a cci, hornady, norma, fiocchi, remington and a few others, sticker and out the door!
Only rimfire ammo that is not affiliated with cci in some way shape or form is winchester. Winchester = brownells and hertz. And of course competition like Eley, SK and Lapua
CCI owns federal also but it is made in Michigan with CCI overlook.
My Frankenstein 10/22 likes the CCI Green but after seeing this I'm going to try the Federal. Thanks
Thanks for the ammo review Andrew!!! I just buy the cheap .22 LR ammo for plinking.
Love that automatch!
I can buy green tag locally for $19.80/100.
PS, groups at 100 yards with Eley Std. and Green Tags were .50" all day long. On occasion a .25" with the Green Tags. Gosh, I miss those rifles and that era :(
None of my five .22s like Greentag. For competitions I use SK Rifle Match..
Green tag is cherry picked cci standard velocity.they sort them by weight they are more consistent then standard velocity tho
I did not know that. Thanks for the info.
Anybody know the distance of this shooting please? I wonder why many shooters never tell the distance.
My apologies. 25 yards
@@andrewmconrad Thanks!
I had the same results with green tag. Not worth all the extra money to me I’m with you I have tons of automatch and it’s good enough.
It's pretty good. I'm gonna see how far I can shoot it. Just need to get a long distance spotting scope.
True shot has free shipping today. Score 100rds 223 for 44 shipped
Nice. Pretty good deal
I need to get some of that stuff 😅 good shooting man
It's good, kinda surprised me, but you just can't go wrong with the automatch
cci greentag suck in all my 22's including bergara carbon.
Crazy high price for .22LR. I shoot 1,000+ rnds/month and never pay over $10/100.
I agree. Even the 0.10 cpr is too high for me. I want to be less than 0.08cpr
Auto match all the way
Agreed!
How far are you shooting?
~25 yards
Truer test will be at 50 yards. I was impressed till I saw it was at 25y. Still good for the distance but try stretching them both out and see how big the groups get.
