I am "fortunate" to be old enough to have went to the Screaming for Vengeance tour when it hit Seattle, WA in the 80's. It was f%^k'in awesome! Downing and Tipton - it doesn't get much better.
That's the exact reason why Priest and their counterparts are called as "Metal Gods"🙂❤🙏 they have their own single called "Metal Gods"🙏 Oh man Judas Priest is indeed a legendary band🙏☝

Song is from 1976, Priest introduced and created the leather and stud heavy metal look. Black Sabbath and Judas Priest are both from Birmingham, if Sabbath made it heavy, Priest made it METAL!
The concert was 82, this song is much older than that. Priest popularized the leather look, head banging, and dual guitar attack that defined 80’s metal
This song first appeared on "Sad Wings of Destiny," widely held by many as Priest's best album. You ought to give it a listen, the whole album is GOLD.
Saw this tour. Halford whispered JUDAS PRIEST. AND THE WHOLE CROWD STARTED SHOUTING JUDAS PRIEST AND IT LASTED ALMOST 5 MINUTES. Talk about crowd control! Never forget that day!
I saw this tour in Canada . I saw them several times in the eighties . Their shows got bigger and bigger . This is the band that can claim they took the blues out of metal and made it pure metal . Halford is the metal god !
I was at the opening show of the SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE tour down in Bethlehem PA …. road trip from CT with my bass player. It was at Lehigh University gymnasium …. a small place by Priest standards. 4th row on the floor caught a guitar pick & got showered with Rob’s sweat multiple times as I clawed to the barrier. The mighty Brits left us drained & deaf for a couple days. Easily one of my top 5 shows of all time. And just imagine how crisp & powerful Rob’s vocals were on that night compared to this video after being out performing night after night.
I lived through it, I was a freshman in high school in 1980, the 80s were the greatest time in medal an rock history, just my opinion. My childhood Buddy is the current drummer for Judas priest's Scott Travis. He grew up here in Virginia with us great great drummer . I don't know if you all checked out pain killer, but it's amazing.👏🔥💯👍
Cool, dude ! Did Scott know his calling to provide percussion early on, or was he just a normal kid ? I first heard him in Racer X , had that live album , played the cassette to death, then next thing ya know, dude is propelling the Painkiller album
I know this is an old thread, but I just saw it so I'll comment anyway. Thank you for using this particular performance of Victim of Changes. So many reactionistas use the same outdoor stadium show where they are clearly overheated and the acoustics are inferior. This show is a better performance, and far more typical of a night with the Priest. I can say this, having seen 7 tours beginning with British Steel. Their live shows were stunning, not to mention LOUD. Look at all those Marshalls and think enclosed venue. I was at the front of the stage near the left stack during one of the shoes, and my ears rang for 3 weeks.
I was at that show. They played so loud that they were knocking acoustic tiles from the ceiling. It was an awesome show. I've had the pleasure of seeing them 7 times in the 80s and 90s. I saw White Snake and Iron Maiden open for them at the Auditorium North Hall in Memphis when I was 17. They never put on a bad show.
Maiden opening for them, that is cool. With time Maiden is the bigger band but myself gaining musical awareness around the early 80's they where equal. When was it you saw them?
Ah yes, 80s was a great time for heavy metal. I remember those days and large concert venues. Priest, Dio, Maiden, Scorpions, Rush and even saw some new bands at the time at large clubs like Japanese band, Loudness.
The parent album of this song came out in March 76. You're right. Many bands that came later (specifically Iron Maiden) took the Priest blueprint and ran with it. Basically, Judas Priest single handedly invented metal as you now know it, back in the mid 70s. I saw them a few times late 70s here in the UK. Always awesome. I strongly suggest that you listen to the whole album (Sad Wings Of Destiny) and reflect on how that one album changed the whole scene from 'rock' (Purple, Sabbath etc) to 'metal' It has to be said, its also a brilliant album
One of THE VERY BEST then, and STILL doing the business!! They helped define and build an entire genre of music and still do it better than MOST if not ALL!!! 🤘🤘
Was 17 years old 1982,the 80's was so awesome to be young. The music that decade is the best ever. Feel sorry for you kids out there who miss these fantastic koncerts and all this great bands🤘
Glenn Tipton is probably the finest guitarist I've ever seen in 45 years of concert-going. I've seen JP at least a dozen times over the years and they always satisfy every metal craving imaginable.
I had this concert on VHS back in the mid-80’s and I used to watch EVERY morning before I went to work. Along with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest ruled the heavy metal world back then and I couldn’t get enough of them. I played in a band that covered a number of Priest songs and they were always my favourites. Ahhh, bring back the 80’s....
The first metal band to Cover the WHOLE STAGE WITH MARSHALLS! THE 2 MIDDLE STACKS OPENED UP FOR ROB TO RIDE THROUGH THEM ON THE HARLEY FOR HELL BENT FOR LEATHER! EPIC! AND HISTORICAL!
Saw them open for KISS in 1979, then the next time was 1982 again as the headliner. This song was from 1975's Sad Wings Of Destiny and best recording in off the unleashed in the east live in Japan, best live Judas Priest.
Judas Priest's first album came out in 1974! Rocka ROLLA ! Had a bottle cap that looked like the coca cola cap. But said Rocka ROLLA ! 82... Far from the early stages of metal ! This was on the Sad Wings of Destiny album. I believe released in 76.
Saw this tour.... Screaming for Vengeance '82 and Defenders of the Faith in '84. It was a great time to be a Metal Head. There's only 1 Metal Band that has stood the test of time and is still kicking ass today and that's The Mighty Priest. Celebrating 50 years of Metal this year.
Being someone who IS old enuff to have lived thru this time, you were so right. I saw the Pittsburgh stop of this very tour. I still remember the chills I got when the lights suddenly went off, & the spoken word intro to Number of the Beast blasted out, letting us know Maiden was about to kick some arse. But then Priest came out to remind us that they were the true Metal Gods. It was my first real metal show, & altho I have seen some great rock concerts over the years, this one was the best, in my humble opinion. I am a musician to this day, inspired largely by this very show. Thank you for bringing back some amazing memories with this vid.
Gotta love Judas Priest. That isn't just an 80s performance. That is an 80s performance of a 70s song. Priest, along with only a handful of others, paved the way for the rest of today's metal.
