The 240SX Gets A Set Of "Kouki" Tail Lights For The 180SX Type-X Conversion!

In today's video, I'll be installing a set of 180SX "Kouki" tail lights on my RB25 powered 240SX. If you haven't seen the last episode of installing a complete "Type-X" front end on the car, check out this link ( • Installing An Original... ). I've been working toward doing a complete conversion for a few years now and I'm finally ready to start getting everything fitted before the car is ready for body/paint, whenever that'll be lol. It's an exciting time to say the least! I'll have more content on the other aspects of the kit as well so stay tuned! In this video though, I'll show you every aspect of the tail light conversion and how the JDM parts differ from the USDM parts. Enjoy!

I appreciate that, wish things were different too. UA-cam is killing channels with their algorithm. It's no longer based on subscribers, they only show people what they think people want to see. It's a biased system to say the least.
@@saabkyle04 put out a video that you think will be popular, and say in the beginning “did you guys know I was building this 240sx, and these other cars? UA-cam is not helping you viewers get the content you subscribed for.”Something along those lines. You put a lot of effort into filming and editing these videos, not to mention actually working on vehicles.
I appreciate that suggestion, I will have to try something like that and see if it helps at all. If it does, it'll only hopefully strengthen the viewership of the folks who already get to see it. Then, there's still the problem of youtube not sharing the videos. I've almost given up trying to figure that out. It's too much to bear with, like you said, everything it takes to run the channel. Thank you very much!

Thank you for NOT changing the color. A color change usually looks bad unless it's done with removing about everything from the body of the car....

I'm using a genuine 180SX Type-X "Kouki" spoiler, it'll make a statement for sure!
I really like the 240sx stock one it looks nice to me but the 180sx style fits and match your r32 I give a credit on that love ur video

I agree; LEDs DO make a difference. I replaced all of my exterior lights with colored-lens matched ones from Super Bright LEDs. Not only do they look better, but they are safer, too, as it increases visibility awareness to those around you!

if you want to keep your original rear lock and key, pro shop noble makes a spacer that fixes the depth issue. look up "Noble Lock Spacer For s13"

Since you have LEDs for the tails you should at least put LEDs on the Pop ups
In some states that's illegal, typically due to outdated laws that specify that the primary lighting source HAS to be a bulb.

If it's a DOT approved light, it shouldn't be an issue. I will do it like I did to the Jimmy at some point, just not worth sinking the money into yet.
@@saabkyle04 I know there are some LED headlights that cost $20 per bulb. ThatDudeInBlue has them on his 2JZ 240sx

Kyle that center section actually looks really good in the black. What if you did the lower part of the center piece body color and leave the part between the taillights black? I think it would accent the car really well
The bottom piece is supposed to be painted to match the body. I can't remember right off if the center is supposed to be black or not, I'd have to look it up again, but I agree, it looks really good black!

what model number of sylvania LED lights did you use for the reverse lights? And did you have to use resistors for both the blinkers/reverse or did the LED’s work without them

The 180SX is top trump of it. D1GP driver also most used of it.

You should paint it some version of Metallic or Sunset Orange! That would still look great with a blue Interior, and yet be very unique! Just my 2Cents.. lol

Would be nice if you put that battery in a battery box later.
The bracket is so you don't have to have a bulky battery box.
Why not add washers and long bolts to keep the original key cylinder
I think you'd create an issue with the lock linkage not being able to connect to the cylinder, but I did not try it. If you've gone this far with getting the parts, you might as well get a lock cylinder too lol.

There is a guy on eBay that sells a reproduction "180SX" decal for the center garnish. I had him make mine say "240SX," so maybe you can get him to make you one!

Those are kouki taillights, not type x. Those tail lights are standard on all kouki generation 180sx. Type x is a sub model. No hate as there is a lot of mis information out there about kouki 180sx related parts.

Naaah, he is not the first or the last one to do that conversion, everyone that really loves the 240SX know those tailights are the best ones 😁

The 240SX original tail lights looked far better and futuristic than 180SX

I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. I've been fighting youtube and their ridiculous algorithm for a few years now. My subscribers are not getting notified of new uploads. I've tried just about everything I can think of and nothing works. At the end of the day, I still have to do my best to keep it up, regardless of the views. It can always be better, but I'm thankful I'm still able to do this for a living thanks to the brands that support the channel like O'Reilly and Valvoline.

@@saabkyle04 You already Sunk alot of Cash In the Suspension Rebuild, Interior Restoration, Engine Swap material, The RB25 and it's Rebuild, CD00A Gearbox Conversion. AND not mention you spent a lot of time Tracking down the original JDM Type X BodyKit. You put your special Touch to the 240 and If you sell it Eventually some Idiot is gonna Take that away from you and Completely Ruining it. It's definitely not worth Selling because you might lose some Subs and support in the Process
It's always worth selling if the price is right. It's not my concern what someone else does to THEIR car that they PAID for. As you get older, you will realize that. The best time to sell is when someone is ready to buy.

and those are not type-x lights, they are 96-98 180sx tail lights. they were factory on all trims (type x/s/r).
