Nora, you already know you are an Alocasia queen! I would highly recommend trying some Alocasia in either the Lechuza Deltini or Lechuza Maxi Cubi... after transferring my Frydek, Black Velvet, and Dragon Scale all three of them started growing MASSIVE leaves!! As always keep up the great work and can't wait what new content you will bring us in the new year :)
@Zack, would you kindly share how you’ve successfully transitioned your alocasias? Has the success lasted? Just lost my huge Alocasia Cuprea, but still hopeful since the roots are healthy.
Ms. Nora! You are hilarious! You are and remain the "Queen," not a killer, no matter how many alocasias you lose. You are tops in my book and I've learned so much from you. Keep it going and thanks!
My alocasias were terrible in soil they did nothing i have now transferred all to Leca and they are huge with new leaves each week. Absolutely stunning. Thank you so much introducing me to Leca I love. All my other plants are changing also to Leca.
You definitely a queen Nora! Luv your plants. I have most of my Alocasia in Leca and doing well. However, don’t know why I struggle with my poly and frydek all the time. Like you said one day I’ll crack the code lol. Tfs 💚 14:02
Love your alocasia collection. I think your on the way to being a queen but maybe a princess right now. Continue on this journey and take us along with you. New subscriber here.
I have a variegated alocasia macrorrhiza and an alocasia bambino, both very beautiful! My banbino went into shock when I took it home and dropped 3-4 leaves as I failed to get its watering schedule down, while the macrorrhiza is a total champ, just unfurled new leaves despite having to be actually shipped to my home!
Hey, Nora, you are an absolute queen, alocasia or leca! Love your videos ❤️❤️. Question -did you cut off the alocasia roots when you transfered them to leca or pon? I have two I want to transfer and it would be great to have your advice. Thanks!
There’s a lady on y/t that grows them in water in a bottle top! I grow mine in a small plastic cup of damp moss and sit the corms on top. Some people say to peel the brown skin off first but I didn’t bother. I covered the cups with little plastic bags and they are all growing well and all have their first leaf. They will be going into Leca real soon. I hope that helps
Happy holidays Nora. Love and look forward for your videos. I have a question, I have the tendency of repurposing all sort of containers. I noticed that your leca containers are transparents or clear. If there are reason why. Can I just plant leca on a oil old can without getting root rot.
I’m going to transfer my Alocasias to lechuza pon in the spring so far I have 18 by then maybe 20 or 24. I wanted to try leca (I have a bag) but I don’t feel like buying a lot of nutrients lol 😂
OMG I think you are the queen of wonderful Alocasias....but if you need a queen for Alocasia killers, I will step up. I LOVE the look of these plants & have lost a small fortune on them. My last one was an Amazonica....So after viewing this, I am thinking i should keep the reservoir very low? Are there any styles that seem to survive better than the others? What size plant would do best for transfer into LECA? 2.5? 4.0? HELP
Dolly, I am just winging it! Trying to find what works! I usually start with small plants, that seems to work well. As for types that work better in leca, I think they all should but what do I know!
Pon, is a substrate or growth media that can be used when growing plants in semihydro. Leca is another. Semihydro is growing plants without soil in a growth media and have the plant fed by a nutrient solution, either using a wick or having the plant sit in the reservoir.
Have you had any issues with water roots rotting after sitting in nutrient solution for sometime? My dragon scale had beautiful water roots but within a month all the roots in reservoir rotted. Is this why you keep it very shallow? I heard wick pots are better but I’m not trying to spend more money and use my current setup (orchid clear pot and ceramic cover pot). Thanks Nora
I'll be curious to know whether your alocasia will bloom. For some reason, the only alocasia that won't bloom are the ones I have in passive hydro (pon). All my other ones have bloomed several times.
I screamed when she said,,, silver dragon is now dead , now dead, (eyes roll to the heavens),,, am not taking the heat for that , I think the plant was a dud No no no 🙄🤣😂
@@TheLecaQueen I have watched that part like 10 times already, I just be screaming, especially when you switch your mouth and explain what happened. Love you and all your beautiful plants.
I killed my silver dragon alocasia within a few days of having it🥲 I chopped all the dead leaves and rotten roots and praying that starting it over in first water then transferring it to a leca filled pot will help it.

You are too kind Zack! Using the Deltini is a fabulous idea! As soon as I recover from Christmas moneywise I am off to buy me some pots!

You totally redeemed yourself! Congrats. 😁
Thank you Carol!
Charming alocasias (。♡‿♡。)
Leka or pon, it doesn't matter. The main thing is proper watering, I think. Thanks for the wonderful video!
You might just be right about the watering.

You're a queen! Up until now, I killed five alocasias. All duds, the lot of them.😂
Alocasias are just cray cray!
Do you have a video that lists the plants that grow well on moss poles?

Hello, see the very helpful comment below.
I just received an alocasia ninja plant and was wondering when I can transition it to Leca since it was just delivered today.
Happy holidays Nora.

What's the difference between pond and semi hydro? Alocasias are soo pretty but i cant get it right 😮

I have not had rot because of the reservoir but I think keeping it shallow and dry sometimes is not hurting!

They do bloom. One of the black velvets is flowering now. I tend to cut them off.

Where are you getting your Pon from. I've looked every where in Australia and no one sells it.
What city or state are you located in?
