😮 omg. When you said someone asked how old you were I'm thinking old 35 or 36. I'm a 68 year old black woman and I thought I was good at guessing ages 😂. Looking good lady...
I love that you’re a black Aussie, as it’s not what I come across, especially on UA-cam. I also love that you have all your plants in leca ❤❤❤. I don’t mess with changing things up with Alocasia 😅
Thank you foryour content, I really enjoy growing in Italian Leca. It's whats most available in my area and it works great. I would've never quessed you are in your 50's. Cheers.
Always love a Q&A, always something to learn. Not sure if you have been to Collector's Corner lately but they have a new range of clear pots. Always love a bit of garden shop 🌸🌸
The alocasia question hit home for me. 😂 I transferred my only alocasia to Leca a while ago and literally all of its roots died along with all but the newest leaf. I ended up cleaning it up, cutting off all but the one surviving leaf and leaving it to sit. It’s been I think two-ish weeks and I’m finally seeing two roots on the side of it’s clear pot. Hopefully it’ll settle in pretty soon. Now I’m struggling to have my peace Lily transfer peacefully. Ive decided to do your long method with the next plants I transfer. I have a tendency to be too impatient which is why I think my alocasia tried to give up on life. 😂
Such informative topics from you...I always look forward for these Q n A segment bc then we get to interact with the leca Goddess that knows it all..we love you in Canada...stay safe n your family..
The more time goes on, I feel the decades change. 40 is the new 30, stuff like that. My 30th bday was like the start of my “new 20’s”, but unfortunately that only lasted the first half of my thirties. Then shit hit the fan somehow. Now I’m just… 37 and not sure what else. lol. Hopefully 40 will be the new…20 hahs
Thank you so much. I got my little clear pots at an online orchid store here in Australia and the plant labels probably at Bunnings or Amazon. Check out my resources page in the description. I may have the labels listed in my plant tools and accessories kit
Hi! I've never heard of the Syngonium auritum -- but have now ordered myself one! It's so pretty! It sort of has P. joepii vibes to my imagination. Turns out, Steve's Leaves has them on sale right now! :) Be well!
I have a plant I have had for 6 years no growth and I just want to take it out and jump it into leca .I think I have over watered it.What shoul I do? Thank you for all your informative videos
I have a Q I dont know if you have answered it in a previous video, but do you ever have problems with edema (water bursting the leaves cells, it looks like dark patches in the back of the leaf) with your plants in leca? Several of the plants I have transitioned to leca or pon in the last few months have been having this problem. They have grown new roots into the reservoir, but then the leaves start getting edema and eventually the edges turn yellow and die off. Its stressing me out!
I used to, not anymore. There is research about what actually prompts a plant to flower, things to do with light temperature and so on...so I don't use flower Focus anymore, I just use Foliage Focus and my plants are flowering
Nora I love you shared your age! I always thought you looked at least 10 years younger but with your wisdom and confidence you seem older. I suppose that's why whoever asked did so! I am 38 and I remember being at an age where it was like "if I'm still alive by 30 someone better fix that cuz I don't want to be old" yay here I am doing way better than in my 20s. It's kinda funny when ppl think they are peaking in their 20s when in reality it's such a struggle and you don't even realize it until your in your 30s. Like so much peer pressure, trying to fit in, thinking you need to do all nighters drinking or partying, working junk jobs (well the job market equally sucks now), looking for a partner and feeling like if you're single there is something wrong with you etc, then you get to your 30s and most of us are like "screw that" and you start prioritizing healthy routines and self care. You don't feel lame if you've gone to bed at 8pm BC you were tired. It's such a weird brain transition!
Hey Marisa! 👋 I know how weird we all are about age right! It only just gets better as we get older. The wisdom is just awesome. When we realise we do not have to conform and become our true selves, then the magic starts to happen ✨️ 😉
@@TheLecaQueen Exactly!! In your teens and twenties the idea of staying home because you need to work or whatever your inner voice is soooo negative and often prompted by "friends" that say things like "only a loser would stay in on Friday night" and that sorta thing, then you age 15 years and you realize that not only were most of those people not your actual friends but you are far more happy with listening to your own inner voice! Of course for a lot of people a few friendships from those years do last a lifetime but it is rare! Once your confident, even with flaws, you just get respected and you don't even have to "demand it" bc it comes with the confidence!! AND we still get to have a ton of fun because of kids!!! Seeing the world through them is one of the best parts of growing up!!!
What what? Shortie (I'm short too) is near 50? I'm gobsmacked. Thought u were in your thirties! Looking good👍🏽Well more powers to u for ur plant focus, family focus and, you appear to be a well rounded person. I enjoy ur energy and enjoyed the q&a and plant tips! Thank u! Dee, NY
That is a question that needs to have alot of caveats. Leca does not influence the rate of growth of the plant, it is simply a medium, what it allows for is optimised conditions, better drainage, aeration, constant supply to water and nutrition. If leca is used the right way, plants thrive. You also need to take into account the other elements a plant needs to grow, light, humidity, temperature. Have these all been controlled for when someone says leca plants grow slower? I would probably say no. The results anyone gets with any tool depends on how that tool is used. So in my experience, the answer is no, it is not true.
I see you have a lot more holes in your pots. Some people only have them on the bottom. Is this a personal preference or is there a reason? I see some people struggle with mould and wondering if they have too little holes in their pots. Loving your channel, so much information. Thank you!
Hi, I put holes in my pots to increase aeration to the roots. I believe it helps. Others do not. The mould would be from too much light. If you grow your plants in clear jars, mould will happen.

I love being in my 50s!!
I’ve only began my plant obsession in my 50s
You do have fantastic genes! You definitely look at least a decade younger!!!

Nicely done with new plants and Q & A. Thanks for sharing Nora!
My pleasure 😊
Excellent Content as usual, I used to be a plant hoarder before Covid but fizzled out a little. Youre content has gotten me to hoarder mode. Thanks
I appreciate that!
this was fun, please do more!!! (in your spare time, of course, LOL)
I am so glad you liked it. They are so much fun!
A nice Q & A Nora. You've certainly got your hands full there with all these new babies! HAPPY NURTURING 😄
Potting in leca is so neat! I want to switch all my plants over!

Alocasias are so temperature-sensitive! My stingray reminds me of this every time winter comes around.

Hi Nora, loving your videos. Can you tell me how to remove green moss or algae in my potted plant. It is potted in an aroid mix. Thanks
Hydrogen peroxide give it a good rinse or shake in the water it will kill the algae
Thanks, will give it a go@@plt1969
As Hoyas are a flowering plant, do you use Foliar focus or orchid focus? Thank you

🤣🤣..."the cannibas industry"...🤣🤣
All my plant leaves are turning yellow. The ones in LECA and the ones in soil. Im keeping my blinds semi open. What is going on?
More details are needed
The majority of my plants in LECA is at a stand still. They are not really growing, but not dying either?
I have so many questions. What is your plant care routine?
Is it true that plants grow slower in leca?
That is a question that needs to have alot of caveats. @@TheLecaQueen Thank you so much for your insight.
I keep missing what you put in your plants sfter you pot them.. for nutrients
My Special Sauce which is a mixture of Clonex Clone Solution and Root Zone
Love this vid. Tysm! 💚😊🌷
So glad!
Do you have gnats?
not so far no. gnats do not like leca
