The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Amazing there was a time this would appear on network TV - while I don’t live in the past, it’s a sad realization when one considers the current state of TV when viewing these Sullivan clips.

Yes.....no lip synching here....and......the idea for the dancers is so off the wall here.....seems like such an odd combination of singing style and dance style.....which is great because it shows incredible creative thought to mix 2 disparate elements. I see just a sniippet of Fosse dance style here, but not totally. Anybody know who the choreographer was ? I clicked over to this on You Tube after seeing the sad news of his passing. RIP Ed.

Ed Ames charted at number 21 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and number 92 on the Hot 100 with this song. Written by Mauro Lusini & Robert Allen. He also sang "The Windmills of Your Mind" on this episode which was posted earlier.

I didn't know the Jewish comment was from the TV show tomahawk incident. I thought it was a real comment about his progeny. I checked his Wikipedia bio, and his father emigrated from Ukraine / Ukrainia / so it is possible to conclude that somewhere in previous generations there could have been a relationship that crossed into the Asian area genes.
