The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I'm Italian 🇮🇹
My Uncle Andy is Jewish ✡️
And this is awesome 😎
Happy Chanukah to all my Jewish brothers and sisters out there 🕎
This gave me a whole new appreciation for Sergio Franchi, Ed Sullivan and Fiddler on the Roof. Was NOT expecting this kind of production number when I clicked on it. Was truly stunned to see the Temptations on the stage. Gotta wonder, did Franchi ever get to play Tevye?
I don't think he was ever Tevye in the musical "Fiddler on the Roof", but he did record a medley with some of its songs in Wine & Song (1968).
OMG! Thank you Sofa Entertainment & Ed Sullivan Fans for finally posting this wonderful performance from Sergio Franchi. I've been waiting years and years for this since my family recorded this particular segment on audio (reel-to-reel) tape back on the original broadcast from February 2, 1969. I'd thought I'd never see it again.! It's like finding a long lost friend. My family was very fond of Sergio and my parents went to see him in concert at Westbury Music Fair in Long Island. My father had most of his albums so it was no wonder we recorded this and ironically we also loved the music from "Fiddler on the Roof." Watching this brought tears of happiness to my eyes...just incredible! THANK YOU!!
I had no idea who this was when I clicked the thumbnail. I'm now obsessed. If I Were A Rich Man in Italian? What a beautiful rendition. Stunning voice from beginning to end. I would have loved seeing him playing Tevye in Fiddler.
I Love Watching The Ed Sullivan Show with Sergio ❤🎉❤
Thanks For Sharing This ❤🎉❤
😂 Cool seeing Stiller and Meara in there! I loved them! Great singing by Sergio! 👏👏
I love seeing all these Sergio videos; thank you so much! It's also so great to see Sergio's entire performance from this episode in one video! "If I Were a Rich Man" and "To Life" are both from "Fiddler on the Roof". We also see Stiller & Meara, the Temptations and Vanilla Fudge in this video, who were all guests on this episode. I hope we will get to see Sergio sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" soon too!
FABULOUS SHOW !!! ❤Loved All The Song’s Sergio Sang ‘ WONDERFUL ENTERTAINER 😊
What an unexpected performance! Sergio Franchi could sing anything with his wonderful voice! To see everyone from the Temptations to the Vanilla Fudge to Stiller and Meara singing and dancing with him, joining the fun, was truly like watching a Broadway show.
Yes, I was 8 years old when we recorded this on audio tape on 2/2/1969 so, of course, I wouldn't have remembered that the Vanilla Fudge ,The Temptations and Stiller and Meara were also in the 'cast' and indeed it was like watching a Broadway show! Gotta love it!
What a voice ! So powerful !
he's a very exciting performer while acting - it must have been a joy to watch him in a musical stage show
He was a great entertainer, saw him in person,he could do it all he was fun to watch, miss him❤
FANTASTIC !!! (Y)
I know that Jerry Stiller was Jewish. Anne Meara converted.
It would have been nice for Ed Sullivan himself to come out and dance a jig.
