I read once that these lyrics are from Shadow's experience while visiting The Rev's parents house after his funeral
i always knew it was written from a very personal perspective from the first few words, "house full of roses, a letter on the stairs"... very interesting
The second solo hits me every time. The guitar practically is crying and showing emotions with no words

the last few guitar notes with that bell is such a haunting moment...i'm glad y'all are loving these songs, y'all have listened to some of their most heart wrenching songs, and i think y'all will love I Won't See You Tonight part 1 and 2, try to listen to them together, but prepare yourself, part 1 is beautiful and deep but part 2 is... a different experience

I've been a fan of this band for almost fifteen years, and this has to be my favorite song. Sieze The Day, and So Far Away get all of the attention, but this song is their true masterpiece, as far as their power ballads go.

The nightmare album is very mournful. I always listen to it when I’m sad, which is weird because it just makes things sadder for me
It does the same to me 😅 Nightmare is my favourite song in general and so far away completely destroys me every time i hear it so it's a proper mixed bag of emotions every time I go through the album 😂
