If only real wars could be fought in a bboy cypher. You throw down you best, the other side throws down their best, a winner is called and everyone goes home ... alive.
I was stationed in Korea for 4 years during the 80's, it sure looks like the Panmunjom. I had been there several times. I was in Korea when an East German at the time ran accross to our side and the north koreans chased him, big shoot out I think one South Korean Soldier was killed and a few North Koreans. The South Korean Soldier died protecting the East German. Be nice someday if the two Koreas came together. Many kudos to this video. :)
It's actually a replica of the DMZ that was built for the Korean movie "JSA". The director got access to it and got hong 10, physics, Ducky and Tricky to be the soldiers.
Well last time I talked to him, he was promoting it at a few film festivals and was in Japan and Korea this month. I'm not too sure when it's exactly coming out but it should be soon. I really wanna see the finished product myself, I can't wait.
Straight up sick. This how wars should be like. Instead of killing eachother we should all just use skills to battle eachother. Imagine wars fought thru dance battles.
I gotta say... I wish that it was really like this. I miss my relatives in north korea... I've never met half my family. It's kinda sad... the closest I've been was a guided tour of north korea for south koreans. I want to see my nephews and neices...
@SpamZoid I'm not 100% sure but most likely they used the set of a South Korean movie that was filmed about border guards on both sides in early 2000. It was called Joint Security Area starring the guy who played Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe. I remember they spent a lot of time and detail to build the sets as accurate as possible, but didn't know that it still stood.
1000 years later, I’m responding: Planet rock White lines Breaker beats, pt 2 The beat goes on Al-Naafyish Don’t stop the rock It’s time Tour de France Din Daa Daa Reckless- Ice T & the Glove There’s more tracks listed than what was played. Oops. Lol
@IslandVeeDub Technically, I hear 3 songs being mixed together. It starts with the accapella of 'The Beat Goes On' by Orbit, and then it kicks into 2 songs at the same time. The bassline from 'I'm Ready' by Kano and the beat from 'Planet Rock' by Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force. Not 95 South. Tag Team sampled the 'I'm Ready" bassline in 'Whoomp! There it Is" and 95 South did a song called "Whoot! There it Is". That's probably the confusion.
I don't know if anybody posted this, but I'll just do so cuz I have nothing better to do... The second song played, at 01:19, is "Cave in" by Guru The song has singing in it, so I think you need the Orchestral version if you want THIS version...
My thoughts exactly. This video's even cooler if you've actually been there. Very intense place. There's a couple big things that are wrong though, one being Panmungak (The main NK building) is now 3 stories tall. I think the 3rd story was added around 1998, not sure. & the temple-looking thing on the South Korean side is in the wrong place. Pretty good though, nonetheless.
Very funny concept. I think you would get a better result if you did quicker closer up shots while they're dancing to feel your right there with them (IE: feeling of everyone is caught up in the motion).
Crews are Rivers and Drifterz. Bboy Physics or Physicx and Hong 10 play the North Koreans. Look up Gamblerz crew, Extreme Crew/Obowang, Last For One, Mortal Combat, TIP. Very nice crews to watch. All korean except Mortal Combat, Mortal Combat is from Japan.
i though the captains were going to battle, that would of being god, i love them elbow spins, hell of a job guys kepp at it. what is your crew's name and where do i find more videos???
AWESOME video, not only because they are defying their military, but because its great dancing! honestly, they say the military doesnt like it, but im sure Kim Jong Il sits there and does eose HARDCORE breakdancing in this time...
Guys there is a set. and anyway this isn't real because the north korean bulding has 3 floors not 2. this set was used in a movie based on older times before the '89. the third floor was built immediatly after the s koreans build the freedom house.
sweet...my wife's korean and she loved this short clip.

very well shot ...gotta watch the movie
THIS IS HOW BATTLES SHOULD BE FOUGHT, heck the world would be a better place, filled with dancers and bboyers =)
Straight up sick. This how wars should be like. Instead of killing eachother we should all just use skills to battle eachother. Imagine wars fought thru dance battles.

its by the freestylers its called breakin or somethin. Its on their first album "We Rock Hard" and its the second part to the tune.
Best damn B-boy video I've seen yet, though I liked the extended video that was on here yesterday.

Man, it woulda been tight if the officers that patroled around looked at each other and started break dancing too hahaha!
It's a set but it's amazingly close to the real place. The set was actually built for the movie "Joint Security Area".

1000 years later, I’m responding:
Planet rock
White lines
Breaker beats, pt 2

Don’t stop the rock
It’s time
Tour de France
Din Daa Daa
Reckless- Ice T & the Glove
There’s more tracks listed than what was played. Oops. Lol
You guys are dope
That looks remarkably like the real MDL inside the Joint Security Area. They must have spent a lot on those sets. Very cool.
hong10 and physixs are wizards, that break mat came out of nowhere like magic
For all the people thinking this is the real DMZ, its not. They used the same set from the movie "JSA"

My thoughts exactly. This video's even cooler if you've actually been there. Very intense place.

poppin is just as much bboyin as anything else. breakin and poppin go hand in hand. take if from me. I was one of the originals
@W00tW00tful its a movie set in south korea
It says filmed on location in Korea, but it would be impossible to do that at the DMZ.
Your uncle is Benson Lee? Wow, very nice, do you know when the movie will come out in Japan? I can't wait to see it.
haha funny how they changed from soldier mode into bboy mode lols.
Ask really nicely.
4:03 cracked me up. when the south and north korean officers stare and walk away.
hong10 is in there too.
