    This is the set from a pretty famous Korean movie about a couple of soldiers from both sides who become friends. This is VERY accurate to how the actual DMZ looks. I was there back in 2006.

    I like it. It kind of gives you the 'despite how government works, we're not so different from each other' type of feeling. I mean, that's the only difference between the North and South. I hope one day they can unite to be a full Korea, once again.

    woulda been funnier if they kept the DPRK guys within uniform standard. Hair is too long, no way that guy would have an earring, and an NCO with facial hair? Think again.
    Also, the North Korean's are trained hard enough that the guy would'nt have flinched when the fly landed on him (hence why the less strict South Korean and US Army troops would wear the one way sunglasses: to hide how intimidated they are by the steroid pumped DPRK guys.)

    Your right it is a movie set. The set was actually built for the movie JSA. It was story about North and South Korean soldiers becoming friends on the DMZ. It's a very good movie and there is going to be a Hollywood remake of the movie. Don't know how that is going to work but the remake is suppose to take place between the Mexico and US border.

    @aznAC925 Well Bush represents S.Korea cos USA and Korea have very strong political ties ever since USA fought in the Korean war in middle of last century, they are very strong allies with some USA military bases in S.Korean territory, etc... this roots back to the cold war, check it out in history texts. At the time the film was made Bush was president so go figure, now it would be Obama i guess;

  • @blackmesalabs

    The uniforms are easy to get. I can think of a few methods: 1) modify an old soviet uniform (they are pretty similar). 2) source an authentic one on the web (just google "north korean uniform" and you will get a bunch of hits. 3) make one from scratch or basic parts (also not difficult). But if they had access to the movie set, they probably had the same access to all the movie costumes. Also, that movie was actually "Joint Security Area", not simply "JSA", I made a mistake.

    Hey darcykingston! You've misunderstood me. I was replying to the comment of sinopie, whose post read in its entirety:
    "i really dont undersatand the south korean ,for u and N r the same people,why do u want to be the puppet of US ?
    pitiful..."
    In this context, I was addressing reasons why the South Koreans choose to remain sovereign instead of joining the North, as sinopie seems to think they should. So, all cleared up, I think!

    well that north korean general or something must be n-korean for real because that's the border and n-koreans wouldn't let s-koreans wear general univorm but maybe those n-korean soldiers are south korean actors because they dance like that. btw search from google earth place in 37°57'21.23" N 126°40'38.22" E you can find that place and it shows that it's in north korea

    There is no freakin' way anyone would get permission to film that on the North Korean side. They'd be shot on sight, especially for wearing a counterfeit NK officer's uniform.
