When I was looking for a 6' privacy fence for my backyard I priced out both PVC and wood fences. PVC was more expensive, but then I drove around for a couple of hours and looked at all the 6' fences in some neighborhoods and over 70% of the wood fences were either dry rotted, falling apart or both. After that it was a no brainer I got PVC. that was 7 years ago and my fence still looks brand new.
Thanks for nice video. Where I can find 5 by 5 wood post. I try Home Depot, Lowe’s also Lumber 84, they only carrying 4 by4 , 4 by 6 & 6 by 6 . Please can you help me.
I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.
I see that you wet the cement to install the post. A fence installer told us otherwise (no wet cement goes into the hole).!! His reasoning was: the cement will eventually gets wet with the floor humidity. hmmm? Help.
Fence installers use dry cement, so you can make adjustments up or down after you have your whole run in. If you use wet cement, and only get half your run in your are screwed for adjustments. I don't know any real fence installer over my 28 years that uses wet cement except on gate post!!!
How can you set a post 30" deep for a 6' fence if the post is only 8' long? what about if the ground is not level, how you adjust the posts level, the hight of the posts? how about the pt 5"x5", Why the general stores that sale fences dont carry it to be use with the posts?
Real fence post are 9' long. Home Depot & Lowes are only 8' long. That's why it's a dollar cheeper. Plus a real fence company uses 5x5's, and sometimes sell them?
"Lovely looking all weather fence"👌Except the Indian looking person doesn't even know how to hold a shovel straight, let alone working with it!😀 Since I am an Indian I took the liberty to say it!!🙏

good luck digging a 4' hole in shale buddy! Here in SE Pa i can only dig to about 30" and solid shale. This is enough, my fence has been up 8 yrs. and very sturdy.
I am a professional fence installer with 10+ seasons under my belt. If a fence is 6 feet above grade, it should be 3 feet below grade. Whatever it is out, it should be half of that in. 10 feet high, 5 feet deep, etc.
What is "long"? 10 years? 15 years? And what do you mean "last"? Total failure? Minor damage? PVC will get brittle from sun damage over time, which means it cracks. It can also warp from the heat and sag. Also some white fences will turn yellow from UV exposure, including some "UV resistant" ones. Lastly, PVC can creak rubbing against itself in the wind. Oh, and the posts are still using treated lumber inside of them for the strength...the bare PVC isn't strong enough, so you have to account for any potential rot of posts still.
Those are ballusters, not spindles. I wish I could've been on that jobsite to show the old-timers better ways to do things. I strongly doubt that initial end post stayed in its desired position being level while the concrete was harshly and unevenly applied in the hole.
+zack9912000 It's perfect for rural properties that have live termites or termite spawns. anything wodd, be it pressure treated or chemically treated will still suffer from moisture rot and termites. It's a quicker and more do-it-yourself friendlier version of doing a fence, especially if the property is a rental. easier to repair as well and practically maintenance free...but the big plus is it's 100% termite proof so long as you don't fill the posts with wood....you can use a steel reo bar and fill with cement, using a masonry drill it to drill your dyna bolts into for hinges and latches.

i just pressure wash mine every few yrs., i think using armor all to clean and protect is good too!
Same here, I wanted something with very low maintenance
@@dianecoles5113 yeah could even put some wax on so it’s easier to clean.

Question: I have a wooden fence and want to go vinyl. Can I use the wood posts already there to use for vinyl panels?
Sometimes
id start over- then u know u have something thats not wood, and no chance of anything ever rotting or any other wood problems
Most vinyl manufacturers recommend NOT using wooden posts due to rotting
4:01 And YOUUU have a brand new fence

You need to follow the video b/c wet cement will dry up soon. and be able to stabilize the fence. It should definitely be wet.

set up was easy
How do you raise the fence posts up two inches so that the top is level if you dig all the post holes at 30 inches
Add 2" to the bottom.
What if you have a dog what do you use to keep them from digging under this type fence
You can build a prison fence. Trench down 3', and add 6 gage chainlink fence. Extra credit - use concret, or cut your dogs nails.
A shotgun

I still like a wood fence but some vinyl looks ok...

Post holes should be 4' below grade to prevent the fence from shifting up due to frost
AssociatedTechnology Depends on location, in the US the frost line varies from 0-6 ft. Also varies within your local building code.

Is vinyl long last in the Florida hot sun ?

Last vinyl is long in the hot sun Florida.

Now i know why everything in US is floating during floods.
Dont like vinyl fencing, Wood fencing is really not hard at all to maintain.

It seems easy, but my fence would turn out crooked and weak😂😂
Why would you be a bonehead and not use an auger?
He literally said to not risk damaging the neighbor's concrete.
