  • We are building a raised stamped concrete patio. I will show you the process to follow so that frost will not effect the patio. We build it up on a stone base footer and water will not stay in there and freeze and heave your concrete. This also is a way to raise the patio so that it is not at ground level. This way you can build a concrete patio at the height of a wooden deck.

    That’s what we’re doing guys. Uncle Jim here. Nice form. Get it? If she’s your aunt, isn’t her husband your uncle? Hey… Bondo, keep up that great work. Was Biscuit in the Army? Those look like my old combat boots.

    I like the block concept, I have a Massey 1250 with turf tires on it and have a backhoe with extension that goes out 12 ft and that rig has done so muck work for me over the years and its pretty gentle on residential scene doesnt tear stuff up. But I do love the excavator with the blade, I rent them when needed the 360 swing is so useful. Bobcats are cool but never really liked them but they definitely have their use. Oh yeah and I have a Carl too and an oldAC 170 that is a beast.

      Thanks. 👍 I never seen an extend a hoe on a smaller tractor. My dad has a big case 580 C with it on there. The more I use the mini the more I like it.

    I run a Bobcat skidloader, and a small mini excavator to get in backyards. Haul material with power buggies. Have MT 85 coming in August

    Mini excavator is the best tool for the job. Skid steer is also handy to have on the job.

    Will it separate over years? Just curious. This is what I want for my front patio - slab on grade.

    • @bondobuilt386
      @bondobuilt386  Рік тому

      No it will not separate the stone locks it all together and it drains water so it won't freeze in winter and heave.

    Awesome work Bondo. How does a patio like that deal with moving up and down from frost since the footer does not go below the frost line? Does it just float up and down a little bit next to the house ?

    • @bondobuilt386
      @bondobuilt386  3 роки тому +3

      Good question. Well drained stone does not heave from frost. 👍

      Well I guess we are alot alike, I like how u did that footer,,u need to at least consider edge liners though man they are sweet, plus you don't have to rub the face which is super nice

      I do alot of regular residential, I saw how u killed it w that mini, I just am not really needing one yet. I have access a big back hoe too and a dump truck, I just usually get dumpsters or use my Lil dump trailor, anyways I wasn't trying to steal any of your viewers just want to show u those step liners or form liners

    Hey Bondo, so I just finished editing our newest UA-cam video ua-cam.com/video/9plSE6DQNEk/v-deo.html of how we pour a patio with stamp borders and use Proline step liners! If you have never used step liners before this video is a must watch! Plus I share plenty of helpful tips and tricks! But these steps liners would have made that patio look even better! Take good and I got a funny float and use it just like big bisket

    Only thing we would have done slightly differently is to pack the gravel footing in 2" lifts. Other than that the concept is sound!

    Did you joint the concrete?

  • @douglasthompson2740
    @douglasthompson2740 3 роки тому +1

    I think just for peace of mind a drainage pipe (french drain) alongside the house under the slab would prevent any water being forced into the basement that gets under the slab. I also would have staggered the joints between your block as a stronger bond for the same work.

    • @bondobuilt386
      @bondobuilt386  3 роки тому

      I replaced the entire drain in this house for my aunt about 5 years ago. I ran the stone all the way up to the surface. It’s bone dry. 👍

    Would there be any advantage if you were to off set or stagger your joints in your blocks? The way you would do a block wall?

    Frost free…????? U are not frost free , unless u in Arizona…..laying a tier of blocks does not make it frost free, footings and walls poured below frost makes it frost free,,,,, frost where I live is 42” below existing grade height

    • @bondobuilt386
      @bondobuilt386  3 роки тому

      The stone footing is what makes this frost proof not frost free. No water no frost heave. They been doing this for 1000’s of years. Think about it with an open mind. We have a 48” frost here Where I live. We also use foam to build frost Protected foundations. Have you ever heard of a rubble trench foundatrion with a grade beam? They will last forever as well. Many different ways to get the same results.
      thanks for the comments. 👍
