Ken I had the exact same experience on my pour last week! (October 15th). Pump truck got delayed so I didn't start pouring till 3:30! I was power trowlin till 10:00 pm!! Sure appreciate your videos man, you are a true scholar. Wish you were my boss back in the day.
Ken is there anything you can't do. Hope the two working for you are absorbing all they can. Hard to find someone as dedicated and hard working as you. Thanks for sharing!
I wish more how-to videos were done like this. The audio alone is perfect. When guys are miked up and you can actually hear them., it adds so much to the video.
I can definitely see where it would be a little harder to calculate for the floating slab and who’s to say you got what you paid for on each truck load. Ken you are dedicated to stay that late in the dark to make sure the job is done right!
Ken? What will they do without you? I keep asking myself the same question. I love my kids but they are no where to be found when I have to work late to finish a boiler job or get their plumbing back online. You're a beast!! Great work Ken.
Ridiculously thick footing around the perimeter. 18" depth is fine but those looked close to 36" wide and chamfered back. Thats where your missing 3 yards went. Dig cleaner footings and save more on the mud. Great work as always.
Really enjoy the videos, and I know what it is like to come up short on a pour. I was curious if you covered it with plastic or tarps to help reduce the heat loss and improve the set up.
Correction...I have used the large rigs with cables and electric motors which take a day to set up on Military bases doing government work. Poured a 24 inch slab in a huge building at Ft Irwin using the big rigs about 5/8" rebar with 4" patterns and about a nine sack mix. WAY to hot of a mix but that's what they wanted. The building was to work on the new army tanks at around 50 to 60 tons a piece.
When building my garage, we ordered 8 yards, got billed for 6 yards and received about 3 yards. It sucks when the concrete company makes a mistake and it costs ya!
Recently found and subscribed to your channel and have been binge watching with my husband. Have you done any garages with ceilings high enough for a lift? We're hoping to have a barn/workshop for hobbies some day.
Hey great video Ken. I'm curious and you have experience, what you need to do in order to have a lift in a garage? Extra thick concrete, or extra footers?
Hey Ken , New OSHA law in 2020 states no Overtime for over 50! I still over order every pour, not an exact science haha I hope that was homeowner watching and no inspector. Keep up the great videos.
Hi Ken, love the video. Would like to know if the depth of the side will be thick enough for a 2 story shed? I’m located in Vermont and building a 16x28 shed wanting to budget the cost using Alaskan slab. TIA!
You have such great character! You are a real craftsman. It what Americans do. It gets dark and the hey turn on the lights. Just curious did you need to do anything special to treat the area you had to add the concrete to? Maybe it arrived soon enough that it just all melts together? Thank you Ken! Blessings from Iowa!
When they are going to spray foam under slab, wrap the form boards in plastic before they spray. Foam sticks to the plastic, not wood. Then you can carve foam to the wood and the excess just peels off. Your form boards are clean.
Do you guys have the options of hot water or calcium for late or cold weather pours ? Neat using the spray foam with the contoured perimeter base, and no 6 mil poly required I guess. 👍
Clean up loads are always a bitch to get on time. I did an addition 25 years ago and ordered 4-1/2 and needed 5. Last time I did a short on myself. Been there.

Thanks for the video too. 👍
Haha thanks
Gorgeous Fall colors! :D Great work, Ken!
I wish more how-to videos were done like this. The audio alone is perfect. When guys are miked up and you can actually hear them., it adds so much to the video.
Thanks
Major slab! Looking forward to this one. Great work.
Thanks for watching

Spray foam insulation is a wonderful solution to an insulated concrete slab. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks for watching
Fantastic job with the concrete Ken. Really enjoy your videos.
Thanks for watching
Love the headlight finish!
Thanks we finished at 11pm
Thank you for this today!
Thanks for watching
I can definitely see where it would be a little harder to calculate for the floating slab and who’s to say you got what you paid for on each truck load. Ken you are dedicated to stay that late in the dark to make sure the job is done right!
Thanks for watching. You only get one chance to finish concrete. :)
You do impressive work. Congrats. I love your videos!
Thanks for watching

Thanks. My son offered to but I told him I could do it.
A new video on Saturday ! Great way to start the weekend, cheers guys !
Haha thanks for watching
Eres un hombre muy trabajador💓💓🇨🇱
Love this guy! And his magic rag
Thanks. It works really well
Dedication!! Thanks for the upload👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
Awesome, I need to look into the foam idea. Thanks much
Apparently the same cost as 2” blue board and it’s high density
Beautiful job Ken. That was a long day for you my friend 😓. Look after yourself. We are all getting older😐. Stay safe. Robin.
Thanks

True.
Hey Ken, love the videos-what does the spray insulation do/is it worth the extra money?
amazing hard worker so respect for you
a true business owner who isn't afraid to work his ass off
Thanks
dude your a jack of all trades nice job
Haha thanks
God bless you! Great videos, and you can tell your just a salt of the earth dude!
Thanks same to you
Superb job all! What a glorious day that was
Thanks yes
Beautiful view, never seen spray foam used that way.
Thanks me neither
Now thats a damn slab...hell yes ...I want that building....
Haha yes
Thanks for the tip at the end Chad.
Thanks
I’m surprised with the expense of the spray foam they didn’t add tubes for in slab radiant heat!
That was a conversation. The homeowner is a plumbing/heating specialist and had done other ideas in mind.
Really enjoy the videos, and I know what it is like to come up short on a pour. I was curious if you covered it with plastic or tarps to help reduce the heat loss and improve the set up.
I had one with me but it was mild enough outside.
My wife loves all her Norwex Products. Great job guys!
Nice we’ve used it on the jobsite a few times to clean some things

True
I have never used a power screeder. Got to get one.
They’re nice
Nice video! how thick was the spray foam?
I love your videos. I couldn’t make out the forms for that pour. Ever considered pressure washing the older materials vice Norwax rags?
Thanks for watching
Ken, I love the smell of wet concrete in the morning/afternoon but I hate that stink when it is getting dark!!
Haha me too.
Recently found and subscribed to your channel and have been binge watching with my husband. Have you done any garages with ceilings high enough for a lift? We're hoping to have a barn/workshop for hobbies some day.
Thanks for watching. Yes we’ve done 14’ and 16’ ceilings for car lifts.
Ken, what’s the difference in Alaskan slab pour. Finally a 30x40 garage, just what I want with storage room above
Just a thicker perimeter
Groetjes uit Holland 👋🏼
Hey great video Ken. I'm curious and you have experience, what you need to do in order to have a lift in a garage? Extra thick concrete, or extra footers?
Usually the slab thickness where the lift will be is 8” thick
Wish i had seen these videos in high school i would if said yes i choose this as my job
Never to late.
Hey Ken ,
New OSHA law in 2020 states no Overtime for over 50!
I still over order every pour, not an exact science haha
I hope that was homeowner watching and no inspector.
Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for watching
So the point if the insulation/ foam under the concrete is to stop cold from coming up through the slab?
Yes and to hold the heat in.
Is it a different spray foam to use like we have in regular 2x8' foam going under concrete slab an yhe other going anywhere else ?
It just needs to be high density
Go Chad!
Haha
Hi Ken, love the video. Would like to know if the depth of the side will be thick enough for a 2 story shed? I’m located in Vermont and building a 16x28 shed wanting to budget the cost using Alaskan slab. TIA!
I’m not sure

Thanks for watching. It was only an hour wait so the concrete blended very nicely

Man I wish I had thought of that sooner
Do you guys have the options of hot water or calcium for late or cold weather pours ? Neat using the spray foam with the contoured perimeter base, and no 6 mil poly required I guess. 👍
Yes we use hot water and polar set.
Clean up loads are always a bitch to get on time. I did an addition 25 years ago and ordered 4-1/2 and needed 5. Last time I did a short on myself. Been there.
Yes thanks
Ken, Any video of how site prep, grading and forming were accomplished?
Sorry none on this one
Staying late into the wee hours , I have been there before also. What do you do for anchor bolts?
We drill and use wedge anchors
Power screed for the win. My back and lunch would not make hand screeding 36 yards.
Haha I only worked a half day the next day
how do you insulate the sides of the slab?
We put the foam inside the form
Hey Ken,
Did you mix up last 3 yards?
I ordered it with a truck
Did the concrete company come back with the missing three yards that day?
Chad is a good worker.
Yes they did. Chad does a lot that isn’t seen on camera.
Will you include the price of this build once completed? Loving the videos !!!
Yes I will
Late nights babysitting concrete!!
Haha yes
Wow 3yds short, this is gonna be a big project
Should be a nice workshop when finished.
what state is this looks like maine
Thanks for watching. Vermont
at 3 minutes is your truck driver doing the chute by himself?? Since the 1970's I have NEVER had a driver that good.
Yes he runs it from the cab
I bet that amount of foam is expensive .
The homeowner said same as blue board.
wtf was that bit at the end?..lol
Haha
you should introduce your crew to the viewers?
I’ll ask them
Can i get some work
Sorry we’re all set
was looking for a link for the rag and cleaning solution in the description...
