It’s only when you look back at how far you’ve come, do you realize, hey we don’t need to rush this roof. Take a step back and appreciate what you’ve achieved. Amazing guys absolutely amazing.
Nic, if you were in a Hollywood movie, you'd be cast as an outlaw, or some badass biker. But over here, you are a father figure. A wise man. I've seen 80 year old grandma's in the comments; 'ow Daniel, when Nic sees this he is not going to like it'. Thank you for keeping our Dan safe.
First time we saw Nick walking in view I believe it the gardens of Chateau Lalande , our first impression also was that he could be the main character in a movie - "The Last Pict" - kind of a "Highlander"-type movie 👍🏽
Yes, Dan, remember that you don't owe us anything! If you promised to put up the roof, but there is too much wind, then it's like that. If you'd say you need a break for a week, then it's like that. It's your project, not ours, and you set the pace.
I have watched you from the very first video 4 years ago, and before that in The Chateau Diaries. I am so impressed with how your skills have grown and how much more confidance you have in the ability to even take on such a project. I am so proud of you. Keep up the great work and please, stay safe.

What do you mean, “Just stick with us”? DUDE, I’m fully invested!!! I started watching shortly before you bought the château, I’m not going anywhere!!! I do have a question: When you started this project, did you ever in your wildest dream, think you would be this far in such a short amount of time? Keep up the good work! I would love to see you do a Q&A video 😊
Honestly, the work you have already done is great!! But above all, releasing a video almost every day in addition to the renovation is unimaginable! So congratulations and thank you for what you offer us! Good luck for the rest of the renovation !! An astonished Frenchman.
What a view!! Thanks God for all the guardian angels. You know there has got to be at least a army of them for this roof project. I know I will be glad when it is done!!! My heart beats so fast watching. Thanks Dan!!! Hahaha! Roof almost done 🎉🎉🎉see you tomorrow 😊
To be honest at the beginning I never thought this restoration would never get as far as it has. I was sure one of the walls would fall in. I’m so glad I was wrong. Dan and his guys have worked so diligently for so long without any serious accident. Truly an incredible achievement. Just don’t take any unnecessary risks. Safety is paramount.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Watching the reflection video makes you realise how precarious the chateau was and that you saved it just at the right time before it crumbled down. You have come so far and now with the team and the tools, how quickly it is moving forward. Great work team Dan❤
Wow, going back to the shots from the beginning, I didn't realize of how much of a shell it truly was, Dan and the Boys, should be so proud of where you are today, it's coming together all so beautifully, only the heights you're at now, it's amazing, I love it when Nick has his GO-PRO, the views are breath taking but at least your thinking safe, can't wait to see how it will look, after this part of the roof goes on, your all doing exceptional work.
Over 100,000 views in 3 hours - Just goes to show that we are all watching this build like we're all a part of it. It's become such a part of my daily life! Yesterday, watching Dan trying to do the job single-handedly had my stomach in flips! I'm Just In Awe!
Dan I know you want to do this yourself, but you need to get the slates on the existing roofs now. That membrane is not intended to be exposed for a long time. It will deteriorate and tear. If one tenth of the subscribers donated $5.00 you could probably hire a company to come in, build scaffolding, and get the roof slated quickly. Personally I'd be excited to know I was part of the group who "sponsored" getting that beautiful roof slated.
Roofing is very expensive in France. You hire a company and it doesn't happen for months, and they don't give any timescales. That's exactly how it happens in France and why so many end up doing work themselves.
Absolutely amazing the old drone footage showing the devastation, from above. How have you made this transformation? I've been on your channel from the beginning (just about) and still cannot believe the miracle you and the boys (thanks Nick - thanks Brian) - oh and the puppies - create each day/week/month. I eagerly await each days progress, large or small. Thanks!
it will take some time to build all the dormers, which obviously will be done dangling and no scaffolding, unless he postpone those to after slates, which makes no sense, flashing, repointing, ... but what he's done is a bit deceiving speed wise, putting in large timbers and osb's doesnt really take that long, its usually quick to set up the frame of a house. its every detail after that takes time. I also wonder how he will keep youtube interest up when the plastering starts, because there will be a lot of plastering.
When you look back to the beginning, when you had all those trees growing in deep litter and rubble in each and every room, it's truly mind blowing to see how far you've come, just brilliant dedication and sheer hard work, sweat and tears. Well done everybody, I look forward each day to your next video of progress and a day of rest is always good for your aching muscles too xxx
Thanks for those “call back the past” videos … I remember when it was just you Dan, and you had that same passion about getting a job done … day by day … project by project …. And look at you now … what a true life story you’re making !!! Thanks Nic for the huge input you are having on this project 👏👏 Durban SA🇿🇦

Last winter and the very first roof roof I questioned his survival 😂but wahlah here we are. Thank you for the ride along. I plan on staying until the furniture is brought in😅
As I have commented before… you’re like watching an ant. Doing feats of strength beyond your size, going up and down through the labyrinth of your home, building this and that… It’s extraordinary. I’ve done a lot of renovations and watched many restorations… but nothing like this. Amazing.

Can't tell you how many times I've had to hold up a job due to weather, just this past year I've lost about 2 months to rain, snow, and overall crappy weather. I build in south eastern MA, USA. Once the outside is watertight we always go inside and do all the partition walls, staircases, strapping, etc...when it rains, but getting to watertight is a long road. Especially on the big builds, over 6000 sq ft, those jobs seem endless sometimes, and you can't wait to get to the end. And then it's all done, and you're like, "Wow! where did the time go?" Working up high on steep pitches is quite the adrenaline rush, but I wouldn't change it for the world!! I remember being 21 years old, middle of December, 25 degrees F(-4 C), 30-40 ft up shingling a cheek wall, and all of a sudden noticing that the entire sky had turned a beautiful purple/magenta color, I turned around to see the most breath-taking sunset I have ever seen, and I just sat on that plank for what seemed a lifetime, and thought to myself, "I could get used to this!!" 37 years later I'm still at it!! I love watching you guys put this one back together, reminds me of some of the nicest restoration projects I have ever done, rebuilding a piece of history is my favorite thing to do!!! Take your time, oh and no dying!!!!
Recap days are important and a great fill in when the weather keeps you in , there's no sense risking your life in the wind wait for the moment then pounce on it when it's calm

You didn't include footage of Nic clouting you around the ear.
I think Nic thinks we clouted him quite enough in the last video. lol

Nick went ababsolutely apeshit when he saw Dan's last video. He's given him a good clout round the ear.
deservedly so🤣
