R.I.P Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, firstborn daughter of Prince Aemon, wife to Corlys Velaryon, mother to Laenor and Laena Velaryon, rider of Meleys. The queen who never was, that should’ve been. ❤️🖤
He sits on his Driftwood Throne, surrounded by treasures in the castle he built, yet his greatest treasure is now gone. Pride and ambition can cost a man everything.
So heartbreaking , she was a 2nd mother to Rhaenyra towards the end . And Lord Corlys must be feeling guilty for not amending things with her before the end 💔😢
If you guys notice, Meleys and Rhaenys wasn't trying to kill aegon and aemond, rather tried to hurt their dragon by clawing and biting the dragons. Maybe she just wanted to incapacitated the dragons without slaying her kins, they're her nephews after all, this intention can be further proven once Meleys slammed that old hag into the ground, they could've just burn or step on Aemond the kinslayer, instead they flew away and check on Aegon and sunfyre and roam to look for that old biatch, before she flew over the castle we can see Rhaenys reaction and body language started to loosen up as if she achieved her goals, maybe just wanted Aemond to flee. The queen that should've been
Rhaenys was very experienced, she knew dragon fire cannot hurt an old dragon like vhagar , which’s why she gave the command Angos “attack “ to meleys. Only younger dragons like sunfire can be hurt by flames like Vhagar dracarys
I prefer Corly's reaction in the books, he gets angry at Rhaenyra for not helping Rhaenys and straight up says Rhaenyra is the one that should have died instead
Oooo really? That would have been really interesting to watch on screen!! Especially that he does not like Rhaenyra personally, he is loyal to her, but after her death he served both Aegon II and III (if I remember correctly)… I feel like the show skips some of the stronger scenes that would divide the characters more within their loyalties than just two sides.
I prefer this version it was Rhaenys choice to fight for Rhaenyra. She did it bravely with honour and knowing she wouldn't return. Blaming Rhaenyra detracts from the knowing sacrifice she made. Corly's should be angry at himself for dishonoring her in life with all his bastards. Aegon was dumb enough to engage in battle himself instead of strategizing and look how that turned out. 🔥🐲
@tanjaceren984no it wasn’t buddy. He changed sides after the Two Betrayers did what they did and Rhaenyra ordered the rest of the dragon seeds arrested. Corlys chose his family over his queen. Rhaenys’ death just made him more cynical and bitter as a grieving husband could be.
Corlys isnt exactly Rhaenyras no. 1 fan here is he though, he even doubted whether hed continue to support her. He just wants to sail ships and mind his business which i dont blame him for
Since Corlys is 20 years+ older than Rhaenys I think he’s always supposed she’d outlive him. But I don’t think he’s ever supposed that HE would be the one to outlive his wife.
Corlys shoulda been mad they didnt help. Also Rhaenys dying was kinda stupid cause she had already gotten away and then came back to fight a battle she didnt need to. In the original story she gets ambushed but gets mentioned that “to her credit she kept going straight” into the battle. But this was random
I kind of wonder if Rhaenys just had enough and decided to fight to a warriors death. Her children are dead and she just found out her husband had cheated on her and had bastards who he was trying to bring back into the family. She didn't like or trust the monarch she was backing, but the other option was unthinkable to her and there was no staying neutral. Which might also be part of Corlys reaction, guilt that things were not resolved between him and Rhaenys
baela even stated it this episode if rhaenys was going to die let it be by dragonfire just like laena, a true targaryen will not flee a battle but face it head on… you think daemon on caraxes would’ve fled rooks rest or taken vhagar head on just like his cousin
Someone I totally agree with. This wouldn't happen because it would make Rhaenyra look bad. I had been anticipating this since season one as House Velaryon has been treated like utter shit. Yet, we are here and they change the how and why of it all.
She died foolishly. Even daemon told her he alone couldn't take down vhagar. She knew she'd lose yet still went out of her way to fight because of guilt. A smart person would have fled and returned with help
@@thereviewsection Help from whom? Rhaenyra is the Queen. Daemon is dreaming about his mom in Harrenhal. Do you prefer Jace or Baela? Rhaenys didn't fight out of guilt....she fought because she's a fighter. The moment she pledged herself to Rhaenyra, she took that pledge seriously. Fleeing simply isn't apart of who she is, who any of them are really. And outside of Daemon...who was there to help? Jace and Baela, neither efficient enough to take Vhagar down. I do agree that Daemon was right. From the very beginning. But that is another story.

Rhaenyra: What have I done…

not even towards the end, she had been like a mother to her since at least she married Laenor.
She was my favorite character. So wise and strong 😢
Almost 2 weeks and I’m still heartbroken her character is gone
