    Nice job and it sounds really nice, always wanted to put TT276 wide lobe separation cam in my ABA and AFP engines but never did. But I did turbo both those engines and the ABA was an unopened OBD1 German engine that would hold 20 psi all day and pulled really hard in a MK3 GTI. I put ARP hardware only in the AFP 12V VR6 and with a Garrett GT3582R that engine will hold 25+ psi and occasional 30 psi in daily driver with air conditioner in a full weight MK4 GTI. Found out that 3rd gear was the weak point in the 02J when it just broke the gear into three pieces. Have fun and keep rolling......

    I know this is an older vid but from what I have read that 288's without a good P&P you won't see many gains and with a BVH you can see a good increase.

      It’s mostly due to the intake, i ran a stock manifold
      Long runners are good for tq not hp or high rpm
      With a short runner people have gained 10-15hp with these cams

    Willing to bet it's a combination of fixing the unmetered air and the 2.9 clone mani that gave you the bump in power down low. I never felt a loss in torque from the bigger manifold in mine on my N.A. or boosted builds. Generally on a lot of cars you would feel a loss down low but my guess is the OEM mani is so restrictive as is that's why there isn't a loss. Sounds great either way... Might be a good idea to take a peak at your o2 sensor in addition to the tune. You have a wideband in there??? Lots of times when the sensors get older or beat up they start to get 'lazy.'

    • @SmithsEuro
      @SmithsEuro  2 роки тому +1

      I honestly believe its the tune. I think since its 8400rpm limit the timing table isn’t touched at all up there.
      I bet just from switching to microsquirt ill see 20hp minimum by being able to adjust timing up there.

    If you have launch control setup via clutch pedal switch that could be your shift stutter issue. I had to get used to driving mine. You had to get out of the clutch pedal super fast to avoid the stutter

    • @SmithsEuro
      @SmithsEuro  Рік тому

      Happened before the launch control was in there. I think the old chip tunes just cant hang out in high rpm.
      For instance my chip tune was set to 8,000rpm but if you did a burnout when you hit 8k it shut off until it fell to the factory rpm limiter of like 6800
