      Trying to get them out. I need to figure out what management for the 3.6. As itll be a race car i think oem just isn’t a good option. As a drag car need to make adjustments on the fly especially with launch control.

    Having done this swap, I'd suggest an external oil cooler if you plan to run A/C. With no condenser in front of the radiator you can get away with the smaller oil heater. Lots of other little details I've learned from experience but that said I'm glad someone else is sharing the knowledge on the swap because the more doing the swap will help bring more aftermarket support for parts. While it can be done without buying a swap kit the centering kit really did improve the handling of my car.

      I wont be running a/c in my swap.
      Itll be going in my mk2 which is a 12v now. I have a civic thick aluminum rad with a high power mishimoto 11” fan. I beat on it regularly and oil temps stay under 214.

    Good shit on the TPB clip. BAAAAAMMMMM!!!!! LOL check ETKA and do a model interchange search and it will break down what cars what parts specifically come in. Will clarify and take the guesswork out of everything. You'd be surprised how many parts interchange within the different cars. Big cams= big F'N win. Thrashed on, hell yeah!

I can't find a 3.2 engine anywhere atm but there's a Passat in my local yard with the 3.6 in it, I just don't know how hard it is to fit the high pressure fuel injection (TFSI) into a mk2 but I've heard its a lot more work....

    • @SmithsEuro
      @SmithsEuro  2 роки тому

      You can use the mk3 rear subframe/kframe control arms and mount kit.
      The front crossmember you must use a corrado/b3 or b4 crossmember then that will allow you to use the mk3 corrado/b3 b4 front mount
      Or you can use the oem mk2 front crossmember with an older “eip” type solid adapter/conversion mount that bolts right up to a vr6.
      Ill have a video out in the coming weeks on the full subframe/crossmember conversion

    • @SmithsEuro

      Easiest way is an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator that turns the retun style into a dead head system. I know areomotive makes one. Set base pressure to oe spec(not certain what it is off hand)
      And then just a decent intank pump to keep supply to it.

      As wiring goes yes, as ease of the swap no.
      6 spds require custom mount/axles as well.
      Best bet is for a vr 02a/02j 5spd
      Plenty strong, cheap, easy to get parts.

      Depends on whats in it now

      @@SmithsEuro i have a 12v vr6 with a 02j trans. What will be needed for that? I like your approach of going OEM for the build. If I could buy easily available parts and make a pretty cheap 300hp mk4 GTI, that would be a fun project. I can imagine you can buy a wrecked Passat with the 3.6 pretty cheap. It makes more sense than putting 10k in mods, that other guys do, where it would have been cheaper to start with a faster car.

    • @SmithsEuro
      @SmithsEuro  3 роки тому +1

      You are good to go then, just bolt the engine mount on it and the trans.

    • @SmithsEuro

      Has to be a vr6 trans (4cyl wont fit)
      I stay with the 5spd transmissions more plentiful and bolts in to an mk3 using all oem parts since they came in the.
      Mk3 is 02a direct fit (best option)
      Mk4 has 02j require 100mm axle cups
      Mk4 trans has different gear ratios
