  • Sri Lanka was low in confidence having lost the first Test and also losing 4 wickets for 81 in the first morning of the second test. Kumar Sangakkara seemed the only man in between New Zealand and a 2-0 whitewash. Then, Chamara Silva joined Sanga at the crease and looked edgy and pretty ordinary subsequent to a pair in Christchurch. Silva was fortunate to survive a couple of excellent Vettori shouts for leg before. Once Silva settled, he began to unleash a repertoire of stroke play displaying why he was trusted again a second time around. In the meantime, Sangakkara reached his ton and seemed untroubled by the New Zealand attack. Chamara Silva eventually fell to James Franklin while Kumar Sangakkara reached 156 not out when he ran out of partners. Sri Lanka later found out the significance of the partnership when New Zealand was bowled out for 130.
