Five eye-catching moments from the 2nd Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Wellington 2006. Lasith Malinga's inswinging yorkers featured in 3 of the instances with various outcomes. Jamie How became a victim to one of those but not until How himself hit a Hot Dog Vendor in the tummy. Shane Bond helped the ball right into Chamara Silva's palms and was given not out.

Sangakkara Chamara Silva Match Winning 121(153) Partnership vs New Zealand in Wellington 2006
Переглядів 1,9 тис.4 роки тому
Sri Lanka was low in confidence having lost the first Test and also losing 4 wickets for 81 in the first morning of the second test. Kumar Sangakkara seemed the only man in between New Zealand and a 2-0 whitewash. Then, Chamara Silva joined Sanga at the crease and looked edgy and pretty ordinary subsequent to a pair in Christchurch. Silva was fortunate to survive a couple of excellent Vettori s...
Eventful Gurusinha 65 in World Cup Final 1996: Taking Warne Apart!
Переглядів 16 тис.4 роки тому
Asanka Gurusinha came in when Sri Lanka lost both of their explosive Openers very cheaply. Gurusinha was slow to get going but caught up well with a few boundaries against Shane Warne. Gurusinha's century stand with Aravinda De Silva was instrumental in laying the foundation of the World Cup glory.
Delicate Arjuna Ranatunga 47*(37) glided Sri Lanka to World Cup triumph in 1996

Arjuna Ranatunga seemed totally in control from the minute he walked in at the dismissal of Asanka Gurusinha who was edgy but effective. Arjuna swiftly glided the ball at will and collected plenty of runs on his way to 47. Ranatunga famously played the same stroke to grab a boundary to surpass the Aussie target. Ranatunga went at Shane Warne even before the game began and he was visibly affecte...

The best Captain Sri Lanka has ever produced.... Numbers may well not be in his favour.... but his toughness and temperament wasn't matched by his predecessors.
Exalent cricket.
Gifted af and had immense power. No lara-esque elegance in his cover drives…just violence. The biggest obstacle to his strokeplay was his belly.
kamal maza aagya ❤❤❤
Those days, those beautiful days...
guru received a good ball from fleming first up, which he could easily have played onto the stumps. would have been 2 for 12 and it's game on
Arjuna Rantinga is left handed Javed Miyandad.
No one could play the intentional, controlled slash through or over slips better than Arjuna. Such a unique and daring shot.
He was always an anchor for the cricket team after fall sanath jayasuriya and kaluwitarana..❤❤
Gura ❤🏏🇱🇰
I was almost 12 years old, and was watching this great final with my father. We were supporting Srilanka as our India lost in semis... Some dialogs in Commentry I cannot forget. Gurusinha is off the mark with a very fortunate cercumstances. - Ian Chappell His innings in the semi final repeated here in the final was gem to watch - Tony Greg These Srilankans are giving the Aussies a real hiding. - Tony Greg. It is one of my favourite world cup. As that time in our school notebook cover Wills World Cup picture and other Indian cricketers Pictures was there ..

In every match when the ball goes up I hear "India" 😁😂😂
Chor Wateche WADAL. ARJUN RANTUNGA
Vintage Lankan Cricket2, any chance you've got to upload Roshan Mahanama's 119 not out runs off 142 balls vs Zimbabwe from Harare Sports Club, during 1st odi match, on November 3rd 1994, please let me know.
Subtitle is irritating to see
2:19 one of the best sixes i've ever seen
What a innings.. gold!
People underestimated his talent. When he was at crease runs always flowed no matter who was bowling. This is called class and talent without the style, he had everything.
He was one of the best at batting with the lower order, rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
And even without fitness bro 😂😂.. talent was enough in those days, not now.. with this fitness levels people will thrash u...
No... And never.... Maybe even for ever... All time greats in that area.... Love from India
Brett lee would have smashed him in the face
Such an underrated player! His innings was so crucial after those early wickets
He is more famous in middle. Class Iitian indians than in Hisnownncoutnry
Really starting admiring ranatunga after the emerson murali incident when he left the field along with his team .The first initiative by an asian team against this England aussie cheating.
‘These Sri Lankans are giving Aussies a real hiding’ those words still giving me goose bumps. Legendary commentary by our beloved Tony greig
Legend Arjuna all time
Arjuna ranathunga is the best captain in our country
Sweet sweet memories watching this legendary Sri Lankan team wallop every other team during that era, of no internet with books being your only source of info/knowledge, box shaped CRT televisions, Maruti cars, no mobile phones and binging on Samosas and Pepsi as a 13 year old in India watching cricket on TV. I remember that after both India and Pakistan were booted out in that WC, everybody in India was rooting for this Sri Lankan team to win the final, not just because they are our Asian brothers but also out of sheer admiration and respect of how they played their cricket in those days. Not only is it an extremely rare phenomenon that the likes of Aravinda, Jayasuriya, Muralitharan, Vaas, Kaliwitharana et al., could come together in the first place, but also that they be led by someone like Arjuna Ranatunga, an extremely astute leader and a highly skilled batsman himself. These memories would always be inscribed in the hearts and souls of millions of others like me who grew up in that era for us to always cherish whenever we go down that memory lane.
Sri Lankans were fantastic in 1996. Deserved Champs
peoples used to say that fat peoples don't succeed, but in this world if male gender are fat & overweight, they get respected but if female gender are fat, they give other peoples in this world insults & abuses.
Ranatunga was best player of late cuts and glances..he and Desilva rotated strike really well while.Jaya and Kalu played big shots. Shri Lanka played really well. DeSilva most genius.
Still the fattest captain to ever win the world cup
Why was'nt it a no ball?🧐
Back when you really scared by the srilankan team to face as an indian... Sanath, kaluwitharna, di silva, ranatunga, Gunesinghe, murali, vaas etc.. They look strong physically too.. But now I'm sorry... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
aussie fielding was below standard
fat man, running between the wicket amazing .
Amazing movement when during final match ceremony mark wagh try to shake hand with shaheed Bibi and she pull hand back wah old memory
sanga and chamara silva on fire
Hum log ranatunga or desilva ko गैंडा कहते थे।
I have seen Ranatunga when he visited Pakistan as U19. I think he was the captain of U19. One of my favorite player....... In his early days, once Greg Chappell said that Ranatunga can do anything but cricket. But Ranatunga proved him wrong....
He and robin singh had almost same batting stance and style.....gliding the ball....
But Arjuna is better because world cup
Dhoni learnt from Ranatunga, a real mr cool captain!
All captains should. He developed a struggling team, made them strong and led them to a World Cup win. It was not an overnight effort but took it happened over the years.
Amazing 1996 WC for Sri Lanka! Well played!!! Very destructive and formidable team in 96 WC!
There was no place to stand even outside Qaddafi Stadium that night, remember it well.
Mohammed Yusuf was another who played this shot with authority and at will
