    Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are touchscreen, and you can enable the touchscreen at any speed in the connection settings because by default they disable it while the car is in motion.

    • @johnhamilton6661
      @johnhamilton6661 4 місяці тому +4

      Yes, to add to that, you go into your device in Bluetooth settings (not on your phone, but the infocenter thing) to enable it.

    • @Baldissimo
      @Baldissimo 3 місяці тому +1

      How exactly is this done? I’d be very prudent with touchscreening when in motion just to avoid being so preoccupied with the wheel.

    Great video on the mazda cx50 premium plus turbo I would like you compared it to the acura RDX AWD A-spec driving dynamic and give me your opinion on both which one would you choose personally. Thanks and stay safe.

      CX50 and RDX would be a great comparison

    • @spinedoc893
      @spinedoc893 Місяць тому

      Not really an apples to apples comparison. The Acura is quite a bit more money (here in Canada an A-spec is about $6-8K more than the top CX-50 Turbo) and has a more performance/handling oriented true AWD system more inline with the Audi quattro system. Whereas the CX-50 is essentially a FWD with rear wheels that engage on and off as the front wheels loose traction. It's designed so you have better bad weather and light off road traction. Its not a system that enhances handling. Both really nice vehicles but no comparison in driving dynamics with the Audi being much better. The question is would most people appreciate the difference in day to day driving and is it worth the extra $ to you? The Audi is a little more up scale but the CX-50 is pretty nice and good value for the $

    The CX 55 could replace the CX 5. This car with a version of the CX 5's independent rear end, cleaned up fender cladding and a hybrid option. I'd buy one!

    • @rdm925

      The move to the torsion beam rear suspension is because it allows for significantly more towing capacity (3500 for CX-50 vs 2000lbs max for CX-5) and its more rugged for off roading. Not that this is a serious off road vehicle but in light off roading and bumpy back country roads the torsion beam is much better than the more fragile IRS. The cladding is personal preference but these are the reasons there is a still a CX-5. If you want a little more refinement get the CX-5 if you want a bit more rugged looks and ability then get the CX-50. I agree about the hybrid option and its coming soon.

    It’s good but the cx5 had a fully independent rear suspension instead of the cheaper and less refined torsion beam. Needs the updated 8 speed auto vs the archaic 6speed that it’s stuck with. Needs a hybrid like yesterday

    We own a 2024 Mazda CX5 Turbo (wife's car - she absolutely loves it). Recently test drove the 2024 CX50 in both Turbo and non-turbo. Preferred how the CX50 handled. Biggest ride differences: CX50 feels better on turns less body roll; the CX5 porpoises more. Both are equally bumpy on rough roads except for the CX5 porpoising more which bothers me but not the wife; Otherwise both very smooth on the freeway.

  • @A_guan
    @A_guan 4 місяці тому +6

    I had one for 9 months before I traded it in for my integra type s. For what it was, it was a great car that handled very very nicely for me. However suspension was a bit stiff at times, the turbo motor felt somewhat slow for me, lane keep wasn't that good, heated wheel didn't get all that hot and doesn't stay warm for more then 10 mins, and the auto climate was either under or overly sensitive for me which would be my only main complaints. At the time I thought about getting a rdx but I chose the cx50 since I got almost everything but for 10 to 15k less.

      Test drive both on all road conditions. Just got a 2024 CX-50 and wish it had a smoother suspension. Turns out only the 2024 models manufactures after November will have the upgraded suspension and steering, mine was a september build, not very happy about that.

    I'm not a fan of the center fan stack (one being vertical and the passenger being horizontal). It catches my eye and I don't quite agree with this design language. I prefer a more uniform symmetrical layout.

    How about an NA version of the inline 6 in this package!

    • @spinedoc893
      @spinedoc893 Місяць тому +1

      No way to mount the inline 6 transversely in this front drive platform with out complete re-engineering of drive train to mount it longitudinally (and like wouldn't physically fit). I TOTALLY agree with your mind set though. I'd love to see an SUV this size and nice looking with the in line 6, rear biased drive train. What I was hoping was that the CX-70 would be a rear drive inline 6 sized between the CX-50 and CX-90 (ie a North American version of CX-60). Alas the CX-70 is just a CX-90 with the 3rd row seat deleted. Nice vehicle but bigger than I need/want. I love the CX-50's size and looks but don't care for front drive biased vehicles. Was hoping Mazda would make a vehicle similar to a Genesis GV70 at a little more affordable price point. Right now to get a mid sized rear biased system and ample power you need to buy fairly high end vehicles. ie Audi, BMW X3 and higher, Acura, Genesis etc.

    • @ricepony33
      @ricepony33 Місяць тому

      Totally with that, truly wish we got the CX-50 styling and look just bigger in the CX-70 with a simple NA six option. @@spinedoc893

    I really wish people would stop bitching about the lack of IRS on the CX-50!! The move to torsion beam rear suspension was done for a purpose and that's better towing capacity (an extra 1500lbs) and better off road durability. This is not a serious off road vehicle but nice to be able to do some off roading or bumpy back country roads without doing significant damage to the more fragile IRS set up. Is IRS more refined and better handling? Yes of course but honestly after driving both multiple times the handling/ride difference in the CX-5 vs CX-50 is negligeable. I'd bet 90% of people wouldn't know the difference if they didn't know one was IRS and the other wasn't and lets be honest this is a 4000lb SUV not a performance car. I assume the whole reason for keeping the CX-5 in the line up is for those who want that little bit more refinement and less 'rugged' looks of the CX-5.
