Experienced snowy weather for the first time here in north Texas. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to work. This really worked on my car door but my vehicle isn’t made for icy road conditions and the roads in my neighborhood are still icy that I can’t get anywhere without slipping! I work early in the morning from 2am to 9:30 am so the sun hasn’t come up to melt the ice on the roads. Had to call off today. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you so much for making this video! I live in Dallas and it just snowed last night. My door was stuck today, I could open within seconds after using warm water and salt !
Cool trick. My doors froze up at work but luckily for me, a little muscle on my part got my drivers side door and passenger door open. Mine has never froze up severely. It really does matter what car it is and it seems like the SUVs are more adept to colder temps as are the pickup trucks.
Put some cooking spray oil on the rubber parts (that are in contact with the glass when the doors are shut) when you park your car for the night. It will help to stop the glass freezing to it overnight.
@@DGCoinPusher no thank you I was on my way to drop my son off for school watching your video definitely allowed me to get him to school on time. He might of not been happy but I was lol. God bless
I thought I did mention to use warm water and not cold. Auto Glass is actually a bit different however. I would not expect warm water to damage anything unless you're -20 degrees.
Ya, I used to do that w hot/warm water (seemed to make sense at the time) and like OP it eventually worked but I saw some other videos and they said the glass could crack, so now I'm trying to use an alcohol/water 2:1 mix and then once the door opens, will clean and apply silicone spray to the seals. Wish me luck!
Sammy D oh if you are worried about that then you better not leave in your car at all during the winter time because the roads are covered in salt my friend. Will not hurt it any more than it is already going to get hurt.
I have a question for you. Sometimes in the winter I can get my frozen door to open but then I get in and the door won't close because of it being frozen. It just pops back open. Any ideas in that case?
Sounds like you're lock mechanism is really freezing yp inside. I would get a can of lock de-icer and put it in the key hole and or spray it on the latch on the door.... that would be a pain to deal with I am sure!
I have pulled out a few times, just holding the door closed (I know that is terrible but a girl has to get to work - smile). Thanks so much for your help - will try it.
The best way to prevent this from happening is to NOT BUY a car that depends on the window moving to open the door! I mean, if where you live NEVER (and I mean NEVER) gets below freezing don't worry about it, but everywhere else... use your brain and don't buy a car that relies on an unnecessary accessory that is prone to failure that will keep you from even opening your damn door! 🙄🙄
Dalton's Garage I know hahaha I was just being goofy. I actually did think you were talking really fast till I realized halfway through the video that it was sped up haha

Wicked advice. My problem is solved. I tried hot water and now I don’t have windows at all!!!
You talk perfectly fine, just the night amount of speed. Excellent and thank you and hello from Copenhagen 🌺

Wonderful to hear! Cheers and stay safe out there.
I’m from Fort Worth and trying this now 😂
Thank you! I’m in WI but from Texas and never dealt with frozen windows. This worked first time!
Try alcohol and water putting spray bottle
Might take 20 minutes to melt in very cold. But it works.
This was very helpful advice to me this morning. I came out of it a home town hero to my daughter.
Much obliged!
Thank you. I needed this this morning.

A little muscle doesnt work for mustangs lol the window needs to b able to go down in order to open
@@tinamurphy5656 it’s times like this when you don’t go without the lock de icer
Thank you it worked😃

If you don't have spray can you put cooking grease or butter on it?
@@adriannadd1983 I don't know, but try it when you don't need your car the next day, would be my answer. Good luck. 🍀
what do you do if you window got stuck half way frozen and stuck there, can u still pour the hot water
Thank you so much it worked
AWESOME! THANKS FOR WATCHING 😊

Thank You! Worked like a charm!
Thanks for comment!
It worked thanks car guy
Thanks a lot, you just saved my life lol.
hot or warm water on frozen glass could damage or smash it.

Hot ° not cold

Nah just don’t make it to hot and u won’t have a problem, only do a little at a time
thank you!!
I owe u a million buddy…. Almost missed my date! Ahaha
🥳🎊
Good info - will try it.
But the salt water can cause corrosion?
Sammy D oh if you are worried about that then you better not leave in your car at all during the winter time because the roads are covered in salt my friend. Will not hurt it any more than it is already going to get hurt.
However you could dilute the run off with some clean water. Thank you for the comment .
Very helpfull, thank you!

So basically if you're not at home u should carry some warm water in your pockets at all times
Pee works too if it's a emergency
It worked!
Duh I am no lion.
Thx
2002 Monte Carlo did this to and still can’t get it pissed me off and I ended up putting a lil dent by my door
Thank you!
Works good tnx
My frozen window and these god forsaken temperatures
If you could talk a little faster and more like a robot that would be great cheers.
Be careful about it if you’re not sure about window will open don’t unlock the car , I damaged my window regulator motor
Can't that break ur window?
Yes if you use hot / boiling water. 👍 I did make sure to mention that in video. Use warm / room temperature water only .
Slow down when you talk..sooo fast

NO HOTC WATER.
Man you talk fast!!!
Plop nation I actually talk really slow so I did everyone a favor and sped the video speed up. Lol

Just thought it would help get to the point quicker. Thanks for the comment
One Gallon Of Warm WD-40 inside your door
I did this and the water froze again
Just yank as hard as you can lol... Usually works for me unless it's below 0
Do u have a mustang? You can’t just yank it open the window has to come down
Sorry I meant drop down window I just realized this vid wasn’t specific for mustangs I thought it was cuz that’s what I looked up
Dont do this hot water fine salt rust cars out
The sslt will eat you paint
Better not drive in winter on road then. Snow plow truck dumps it all over the road and it gets all over your car and drys up to a white powder.
@@DGCoinPusher yeah I use to live in place called north beach had to wash undercarriage every week
salt on rubber ? back to school mate
