Kind of makes you think why these two singers know the story of the Outsider... One could argue its known to all, but they are the only ones who show signs of knowing it, not even the Abbey of the Everyman seems to know.
***** Interesting, though I can't recall if the singers used gloves that could be used to cover the mark. Or did they? I'm gonna check it out. EDIT: Omg I think the male singer does have a glove on his right hand.
+Bewan That's true, but the could've made an exception for this guy? As its the hand he uses to play the guitar? Or who knows maybe its just the player for game mechanic reasons
Plot Twist: Dishonored is a sequel to the old school Looking Glass Thief games. "The City" was on Pandyssia and the cultists who created The Outsider were the Pagans from those games. Likely seeking to bring back their god that Garrett banished in the first game or possibly just seeking to create another god to worship.
i was listening to this in a folk song playlist and was like hey that sounds like the outsider and then i alt tabbed over and realized it was from dishonored
Hits you right in the heart....The outsider is still a boy underneath; not a god. Still why before the duke? Duke is more related to the politics part of things than the magic like delilah is. Jindosh, dust district, the duke and alex were always missions related to politics to me. Ashworth, stilton, and delilah werent.
I think its not important that its BEFORE the Duke but that its AFTER Breanna, who was a witch, and Stilton, who became mad after seeing the Void. Also the fact that after that, we learn how the Outsider was created by his own words. Makes also sense for The Coup song which happens literally AFTER the coup.
Whenever I encountered the musicians ingame, the male and female singers sounded out of sync with each other (they nearly do here too) and would awkwardly pause between sound files. I'm glad I can at least hear them the way they were meant to sound.
Bluehawk2008 wow, I thought I was the only one or I was being picky. Yes, it's like the female voice sounds a seconds later than the male voice, it's weird
They are both out of sync with the instrumental in the game and this a game recording. If you want to hear it as it was recorded there’s a video on UA-cam here with about 1k clicks that has the song from the special edition game soundtrack. It’s 1000% better than this version: ua-cam.com/video/prsrT89_zzk/v-deo.html
Freestyle Flounder after completing Stiltons manor. You can't miss it. It's impossible to go through the game without seeing it, as opposed to when he appears at shrines.
Walter Malone Sorry I think I misread the comment... I thought he said the outsider talks about the creation of the song but it turns out he ment the creation of the outsider himself...
quite the opposite. His song was like musical gentrification - a rich and famous singer stealing the lyrics of a folk song from lower-class artists and making it "fancy" and "respectable", selling it to the upperclasses and losing all of its beauty and identity in the process. His version of it sounds like garbage. Dishonored isn't subtle with its themes
@@Preda.Y It’s been quite a while since I heard it, but in-universe themes aside, I remember liking both versions. If his had a full version, both would probably be on my playlist.
Definitely older than the Empire of Isles. I think somewhere it's stated somewhere that the Empire of Isles has only been around for a few hundred years, while the Outsider is several thousand years old.
These guys are surprisingly aware about the true nature of the Ousider. And they seem to know the details abot the coup against the Empress in The Coup. I have a theory that this duo are not just an ordinary street singers...
They pretty much confirmed you can take him out non-lethally, just like any target. But chances are that either way, he won't be in a position to do much anymore.
My only playthrough of Death of the Outsider so far and I killed him. I didn't want to. I couldn't figure out how to save him. I wasn't as good at games back then. When I replay it, I'll save him. But my first run was very impactful for me. Across the entire trilogy I was very judgemental of the Outsider because of his so-called "black magic." I subscribed to the Overseers' propaganda. I just assumed he was evil. But at each of his shrines across all three games and all the DLCs, each time we spoke, I began to doubt my convictins more and more. But I always squashed those doubts and told myself that he was evil. I went into Death of the Outsider fully intending to kill him. "We're gonna do it. The greatest contract that nobody's pulled off. We're gonna kill the one responsible for the chaos." But that final mission made me realize deep down what I always knew. It's not the Outsider that was evil. It was people. Not all people of course. But people all the same. All the Outsider does is give peopl the potential to develop supernatural powers. He doesn't even give people abilites (except for Blink in Dishonored and Far Reach for Emily in Dishonored 2). He just gives them the potential. The people with his mark choose to use runes and bone charms, they choose which powers they want to develop and enhance. It is entirely up to those gifted people as to what they choose to do with their powers. By the time I realized this though, it was too late. I was already too far into the quest. I had to kill him. It honestly broke my heart. I really appreciate the subtle storytelling the devs create in these games. Next time, I'll try to free him.
These cultist people that created The Outsider literally created their own god. Now that's a squad goal.
just like how the emperor of mankind created
Eissa Sinéad no, it's not the same, the believers actually created a deity, the empire just create the idea of a deity
Just like in real life.
Everybody create their gods.

The outsider really didn't deserve any of this. He was just a poor kid ;n;
i mean it is made very explicit that The Outsider despises and hates all those who worshipped him and made him a god

Possibly just an old folk song that got passed down, these things happen and the Abbey might just dismiss it as old nonsense.
Bewan Could be, but knowing how the Abbey is singing about the story of the Outsider could still be considered heretical. Could always be though-

You forgot to add that this song is only possible to hear on a lower chaos level.
Do they not perform at all or do they run away like all civilians do when you go on a murder spree ?
Craftypiston there are an ambush of 6 howlers at that place.
Really? They were there in my low-chaos run where I robbed all the blackmarket shops, you must've done something to alert them.
The Nopon Gamer there might be another reason - I've eliminated (not lethally) Blanshar in the second mission.
Eugine Kislitsin I was responding to Jordan Lambourne, unless there's something that completely went over my head
I'd so love to see someone do an orchestral cover of this. More instruments, more drama...
That would be nice :3
This song is about the creation of the Outsider. Or am I interpreting this wrong?
Most likely yes. Especially based on the lyrics.
It is. The game even has a scene with the Outsider speaking about it.

folk tale. mythology. "Jesus was a carpenter's son and also the son of God" type stuff
traveling artists always know more.
This song in-universe in an old folk song...the Outsider and legend has been known long before the events of all three games
