- Harley Smith is a hydroponics industry veteran based in Lansing, Michigan. He is currently the Chief Science Officer at Total Health Cultivation/ Light Sky Farms. Prior to that he was with Hydro Dynamics International where he helped to formulate their Mother Plant nutrient product. He also was with NPK-Industries where he helped to educate users on the basics of plant science and how to "spoon feed" their plants.
Although he's a wealth of knowledge, he doesn't have a university degree, and is a testement to the fact that you don't NEED a degree, to be an expert. Determination and a thirst for knowledge will take you very far in life.

great day! i would like to grow some lettuce (to start with) hydroponically. i would like to know how to do this with the nutrients sold by NPK Industries but i don't see in their site instructions on how to use their products. can you help...mygreathanks and blessings

Without a doubt, the Michigan medical scene has been focused more on terpenes and quality, as far as the individual care givers are concerned. This is one of the main reasons for me starting to grow my own. I’m an old lighting consultant who understands what light energy means. But the further my interests followed the light, the more I realized that everything needs to be in balance for the light to be able to provide the energy needed by the plant. That’s when Harley Smith became a regular contributor to my uptake of valuable, scientific understanding of the plant world. Now I’m really enjoying myself and super stoked about how my second indoor plant comes out. Living soil, full spectrum light, ph/EC water, testing runoff ph/EC to understand what’s happening in the soil and with the plants relationship to the soil. Absolutely fabulous…….

I use cheap 4K LEDs. I'm also aware of the inverse square law, so my lights are adjustable.
