Bobbin Tension Adjustment - Loose Thread Bounce Problem - Singer Sewing Machine Patchwork 7285Q

  • The Sewing Machine Bobbin Case / Holder was making loud noise and it was bouncing and rattling more than usual. It was either a thread or top loading - drop in bobbin holder tension adjustment, at the thread by-pass area and that is the best way I can described it. Its a small tensioner that keeps the Bobbin Case / Holder from bouncing up/down/around. If you have this problem and you need help, this is a video for you.
Please follow the easy steps in the video and you will be able to fix it in no time. Also, if you read somewhere that someone needs help with this, please share this video so they too can solve the problem. I hope that this video will help someone. As stated in the Video, I am no pro, but I know how it function by looking at it. This is from a Singer Sewing Machine Patchwork 7285Q
WARNING: Please remember to SHUT DOWN everything when you are trying to fix your Machine. As I mentioned in the video, the Machine started to move on its own and I had the Foot Pedal unplugged. Please take this WARNING seriously or you will have a needle going through your finger(s).

Yours was the only video to address this problem. I was about to pull my hair out! I knew that the issue was in that area but was hesitant to mess with that spring thing too much. My bobbin was jumping around everywhere and making a racket. Thank you for showing how to fix it. I really didn’t have the cash to pay for a mechanic. You’re the best!!

      Which one for you ?
      The bobbin and or
      the tiny metal
      plate thingamajig.
      For me it was
      a little of both.
      The stitch
      is now, perfect.

Hello Jordan! My machine (Janome MC 6700P) had the same issue and I was about to fix an appointment with the service engineers. I saw you video and made the adjustment that you showed, and now my machine purrs like a cat. It was like a miracle!

Don't normally comment but just wanted to thank you for being a lifesaver. I'm in the middle of an art project involving textiles when I got the unfortunate headache of nonstop birds' nests while sewing and was pulling my hair out. Researched online and found your video. It exactly addressed the problem I was having. You did an awesome job explaining the issue and how to fix it. I did what you showed me and it worked! I am back to work on the project, avoided a costly and lengthy repair, and ever so happy. Thank you so much for sharing!

I have Juki but the system around the bobbin case is practically the same as your Singer, and that tention thing is what messed it up. I did exactly what you did and now my machine is back to it's healthy sewing 😍

Hello. Thank you for the video. I fix machines often and have never come across this issue till recently. Your fix to the issue worked perfectly. I am hoping you have figured out why your machine started running on you without the pedal. It was because your machine is equipped the a start/stop button feature. It is the bottom button on your machine front. As long as that machine is plugged in, that button is functioning. Many of the newer Singers come with this function. It is nice to use the machine without a pedal such as when using the decorative stitches where you want an even speed. I use it often on my machine. When you first use it make sure that you set your speed at a lower pace until you are accustomed to not using your pedal. You did a wonderful job with your vid with the instructions the camera closeups, everything. Blessings

Hi, unfortunately, this is not a button pressed or anything. When I touch it with the screwdriver to adjust, that is when it goes wacko. Remember, I wasn't able to shut it down at all.
*NOTE:* I wish it was the button. At least I am able to let the button go. 😁😆😅🤣😂

My bobbin case started rattling and vibrating whenever it started stitching on a Brother machine I'd had for a few months, the stitching was bunching and tangling straight away. The only slight damage I could find on the bobbin case was a very, very small scratch on the underside. Anyway I changed out the bobbin case for another and it fixed it. It looks like this thing is very sensitive to any slight damage.

Wow, I bought a Brand New Husquavana Jade a couple of years ago, it was a beauty of a machine and a great deal, but it sounded like a truck, I sent it back, they so called looked at it, sent it back to myself and still had the same noise issue and rattling bobbin, I knew something was wrong and had a really bad time with the company trying to return, you have shown what the problem was and that I was correct knowing there was an issue. Thank you 🙏 Little hint, if you remove needle place fabric under foot, I’ve lost a needle before and had to take whole darn machine apart. 🙂

I have a designer one husqvarna and the bobbin is not working at all. I just replaced the screen, but the bobbin does not even move. I'm so disappointed with it. I got a Singer Confidence for dirt cheap and it is doing ok. Wish I could get my Husqvarna working though.

What a shame, worth trying to repair maybe, machine these days are built to sew through thin material and that’s it, best machines I think are the good old Vintage Singers pre 1955, they cope well with most things and never let me down, If by slim chance they do, I can fix them, I just love them. 🧵🙂

This is close to solving my problem. The little lip that sticks out of the plastic case that holds the bobbin and touches that small metal tensioner is pressing too hard against the tensioner so the string can’t pass by it. It’s too close to the tensioner rather than the tensioner being the issue. This helps though thanks.

  • @ayastorm5507

Ok I fixed it took 2 seconds, I know I was on the right track when you mentioned tread bunching up there. So far I purchased 3 new bobbin cases (that is what we call them here) No I have spares. Lots of babbling going on that video, but I am very happy with the end result.

    • @JodBronson
      @JodBronson  2 роки тому

Did I "babbling" about off point? Did I "babbling" about how I wipe my booty or was I "babbling" about the machine or functional of the machine?

When you’re threading your machine, you have to put the foot in the up position. That allows for a smooth threading without the tension you’re feeling. Thanks for helping with the bobbin casing. Mine has been making a lot of noise. Now I know why🤓

@Barbara R. Fernandez I have no clue what the source of the issue is. it is actually a re-occuring problem for me to and I just keep fixing it. You may can just take it to any sewing machine service place to have it serviced.
