the wafer or master pins were used to keep the steel pins from moving up into the springs. I thought I had Bill beat on this lock. I spent many days trying to pick it myself before I sent it in. Hope you all saw the smiley face on the back I put that there for if and when he got it open. My next lock will be harder.
I just watched Bill open another one of your locks and after seeing the internals I declared that you deserve a LockLab Nobel Prize and that detailed engraving is awesome!
Actually I think the wafers were on the end of some of those hollow ones to keep the rods from going through the pin and into the spring. The T pins were pointed with the thin end away from the spring so they wouldn't need a wafer. Nice lock!
Those wafers must have been for the pins with the inserts don't you think ? and those T-pins were facing key-pins as far as I could tell. Great job on both the making and the picking.
When he shows the last pin sticking out of the bible calling it a t pin you are seeing the wafer holding the insert up. Otherwise it would have been in the spring in the bible.
I really thought you that you were going to have a heart attack when you realize you picked it. Thank God you didn't, i love your videos to much. Where would i go. Smile. Really Great picking,on such a great pinning job. That's what you call Craftsmanship. That's on the pinning, and on the picking Mr.Bill
I agree with the consensus that the wafers were most likely behind the steel pins to prevent them from falling into the springs he probably found pin 1 and used that as a guide to make 3,5,and 6
You have very great videos and the giveaways you do for your fans proves that there are good people in this world. Lockpicking has always been something i've wanted to get into and i've been watching your videos on and off for 1 1/2 years. Too bad still dont haven enough money for a pick set lol. one day.
Pretty impressive. I noticed the smiley face behind the tailpiece that gets revealed on an open. How did the dimple on the top of the 5th key pin come into play though?
You should do a video on lockpicking terminology. I have experience in lockpicking, but I have no idea what "fault sets" or T-pins are. Love your videos, by the way!
Don't stop building it. You never know Bill might not get your open. He had this for a few weeks before the video was posted. I thought I was headed to the nasty bucket. :)
I know nothing about lock picking, but for some reason I enjoy watching these videos. Could you drill a shaft in the bottom of the barrel so there is no visible sign of a pin in the bottom of the lock when looking down the keyhole and have the shaft also drilled slightly in to the bit the barrel goes in to so you could have a free floating steel pin in it. Then have a key with a strong magnet in the bottom in the relevant location so that it raises the steel pin to the top of the shaft allowing the barrel to rotate when the key is inserted. When key is removed the pin falls back down locking the barrel in the locked position. Would that be viable?
There are some locks which integrate magnets into the keys. Either entirely magnetic keys or partially. I don't know of any which use magnets in the locks. I imagine because they are not as strong as brass or steel and so they may wear or be easier to sheer using force. Then again. I've barely begun to explore this hobby.
bill i have to ask. do you pick the music for the intro's? because i will say i sometimes i dont expect it. not complaining though. also thanks for the vids, keep it up.
Bill, love your videos. Do you know of a lock (the same type as in this video) that has two keys with different bidding? Basically I need a lock that I can give a key to someone but be able to dictate when that key will work and when it wont. So like a master key (which I have) and a slave key (that I give away). And be able to somehow enable and disable the use of the slave key?
Sorry, I'm not aware of a mechanical lock that offers those options, but there are a number of electronic locks that'll do it. Check out Mul-t-Lock's electronic lock section on their website.
correct, I used them so the steel pins would not move up into the springs and get stuck. When I was testing the first steel one it happened so I got some .010 master pins.
+Farmer 13 I love the execution. Been thinking about this for a while now. have a serrated getting jammed while applying tension and getting feedback from the floating pin, but never a set. Unfortunatelly my machining skills are horrible. Have you ever tried using a small diameter bolt as a pin to get the threading too match with the threading in the lock? Or would it get stuck even with the key?
+youri1983 I'm not sure, but i think if I made the pins so he threads could interlock there would be no way of stopping them from locking when you use the key. One thing I keep doing after I make each pin set is put them in the lock to ensure that the key will still work. So by the time I get the final pins made I will have assembled the lock about 10 times.
Rookie here, as my question may show. but, can you do a video on how to use auto jigglers? They seem to be less than liked in your community, but they exist, so I got a cheap pair and would like a better understanding of what I'm physically supposed to do with them.
+69Phuket well, the airbus A380 seats almost 100 extra people than its closest competitor in the Boeing line (the 747). it also is a lot more comfortable... so personally I would rather fly airbus
I'd just watched a documentary about the 747. So it was a throwaway comment. Airbus is fine by me..Been on a 20 year old Thai A330 (relegated to local routes because the interior was definitley 20 years old. BKK to Krabi 1/4 full...Is a bit of a waste!
+69Phuket ha! thanks for the brief conversation. I work in a heavy maintenance facility for the world's largest commercial regional jet manufacturer. my daily conversations always involve comparing the 747 to the 787 and the A380.
+Nick Pelletier How about an A340 with afterburners and a nose kit and booyow a supersonic wide body Concorde replacement... 300 hundred of your friends at 750kts per hour. Sounds like fun right.
I see how oversetting this would be a problem were you to pick it the other way around - so that gravity pulls the pins into the bible. But this T-Pin in the cylinder would just fall back out, were you to overset, would it not?
Sandbox Gamer did you read the thing about oversetting? how would the bible springs do anything to they key-pin-T-pin when the bible-pin is overset, and therefore keeps said spring in place?
Hiya Bill great vid Awsome pick, IF this lock confuse u ur the only one to blame is your self....! I am quite new to this site btw i am à supcriber 😁 But IF u goback to ur vid " phycologic warfair p 1 around 1,20 u find the Idea behandlas this lock... thanks for the vids 😁😁😒// VW fr.o.m. Sweden

Farmer 13 excellent work from a happier time before ‘trapgate’. Hats off to your impressive skills.
Farmer, impressive skills to create beautiful challenge locks. I really enjoy every one of these episodes.
I am impressed that is one hell of a lock
I just watched Bill open another one of your locks and after seeing the internals I declared that you deserve a LockLab Nobel Prize and that detailed engraving is awesome!
The next one will be "armed" ;-)
Actually I think the wafers were on the end of some of those hollow ones to keep the rods from going through the pin and into the spring.
The T pins were pointed with the thin end away from the spring so they wouldn't need a wafer.
Nice lock!
Love the new pinning tray, the black gives great contrast and really makes serrations and other alien tech stand out better.
Farmer 13 has raised the bar to new heights, great job on his part and Bill's!!
Nice picking, Bill. And well done to Farmer13 for the effort that went in to the pins.
What a lock. Great job Farmer!
That lock is something to espire too. Beautiful workmanship.
Nice video and VERY nice lock Bill, still cant get over on how beautiful that pinning tray is!
That's just a nasty lock. I can't imagine the time you spent trying. Nice work Farmer13. Thank you for sharing Bill. Congrats on getting past it.
Very nice Farmer13 Thank you and Congrats Bill
Great work farmer13. Brilliant!
Those wafers must have been for the pins with the inserts don't you think ? and those T-pins were facing key-pins as far as I could tell. Great job on both the making and the picking.
When he shows the last pin sticking out of the bible calling it a t pin you are seeing the wafer holding the insert up. Otherwise it would have been in the spring in the bible.
that's what I was thinking. 3 steel inserts, 3 wafers.
Wow, nice work to both BB and farmer13! Great picking on a devilishly intricate set of pins.
fantastic craftsmanship on those pins, a great lock and well picked as always.
I agree with the consensus that the wafers were most likely behind the steel pins to prevent them from falling into the springs he probably found pin 1 and used that as a guide to make 3,5,and 6
I bet wafets were with the pins that have the steel pins from going into the spring.

Lockpicking has always been something i've wanted to get into and i've been watching your videos on and off for 1 1/2 years. Too bad still dont haven enough money for a pick set lol. one day.
Wow! Beautiful ingenuity! And nice picking!
In the amount of time I have viewed your videos today, you have gained about 250 subs. It's really no wonder though. Your videos are excellent.
What a great job on that lock, i'd be ten years trying to pick that, another great video Bill ;)
WOW!!!! Brilliant!!!! If Farmer13's not already working for a lock company, they should be...
I don't work for a lock company but I am a locksmith part time.
One of my favorite intros!!!!! Awesome!!!
Wow, just wow! Never seen pins like that before!
Excellent picking! love those slow methodical picks...no shame in that one taking multiple attempts.
Great pinning by Farmer 13
WOW! what a lock. the name fits it!
wow what nice pin work and what a great pick. thanks for sharing your video
That was one heck of a lock! It gave me some wonderful ideas!
great job bill wonderful picking
Pretty impressive. I noticed the smiley face behind the tailpiece that gets revealed on an open.
How did the dimple on the top of the 5th key pin come into play though?
The reason I put the dimple in pin 5 was to ensure the steel pin would fall. when the key is used the steel would ride up the sides and allow an open.
Makes sense, awesome work.
You should do a video on lockpicking terminology. I have experience in lockpicking, but I have no idea what "fault sets" or T-pins are.
Love your videos, by the way!
Wow what a great lock and pinning
the wafers were probably in for those steel inserts, and the drunken spools were probably set as t-pins facing towards the key pins
WoW those are some neat pins, I can only imagine the time it took to craft them. Great job
Lovin that walnut tray man..!!!!
Awesome lock very clever work wow
Great picking!
That key made me gush with unbounded laughter.
That was really slick!
that pick from the ssdev set is my all time favorite.
dammnit he took my idea! I've be working on this challenge lock in my spare time for weeeks! oh well great minds think alike
Don't stop building it. You never know Bill might not get your open. He had this for a few weeks before the video was posted. I thought I was headed to the nasty bucket. :)
+Nathan Farmer true. I hope no one can read my kind for the 2 "pins" I'm gonna have in there are surely galactic alien technology
Randall I you ever get your lock one? Would enjoy seeing Bill try to get it open.
good lock that 1and loved the logo looked kind of Popeye skull and crossbones / cross spanners .. excellent picking as usual..
another great video. thanks.
cool lock. did you notice the stamp on the back of the lock too? a smiley face :) maybe to congratulate you when you're gutting it?
Devious lock. I can only guess how much time it took to craft that. A+
Very nice work.

I think the wafers are supposed to go with the steel rods and the T pins where small end down
Hey Bill, wouldn't the wafers be for those steel rods so they don't get stuck in the springs? There are 3 wafers and 3 steel rods.
Well done, sir. =)
bill i have to ask. do you pick the music for the intro's? because i will say i sometimes i dont expect it. not complaining though. also thanks for the vids, keep it up.
Best pins ever.
Wow, that's a nice pinning tray there BosnianBill! Not to mention an amazing lock! I'm betting that makes it to the Lock Porn section of the site.
I was always wondering how you got around.
hope I never come across anything like that!
Nice work bill
Awesome intro! You must spend as much time creating and editing them as you do picking.
I like that brass on wood that shit looks awesome. Nice pining tray!

Medeco Cliq
bosnianbill Thanks for replying Bill. I'll check it out. :)
... and if Farmer13 calls you because he got locked out of his home, leave your picks at home and bring the destructive tools.
If I lock my keys inside I will be the one trying to pick my door.
That's a nice Airbus A380 you got there
Wow that was a lot of time in those pins. Good fight. Nice tray too. Where'd you get it.
Fan made it for him, shows it a couple vids back
+Norse77 cool thx
looks like 3 wafers for the 3 steel rods

For the intro, was tat a skin for a plane in a flight simulator? If so does anyone know where I could find that skin?
Cool someone from Marysville. That's where i'm from.
I knew you were rich that's a cool air liner how many people does it seat?
do you put these back togeather in working condition?
Of course.
+bosnianbill what do you do with them after you re-assemble them?
+Farmer 13 eat them for the nutrients
Now that's cool. hollow pins.
Bill, how long habe you been at this? meaning this hobby. I've always been curious to get into it.
Rookie here, as my question may show. but, can you do a video on how to use auto jigglers? They seem to be less than liked in your community, but they exist, so I got a cheap pair and would like a better understanding of what I'm physically supposed to do with them.
W3ssy W3s honestly, this is not meant to be a troll comment but it’ll sound like one... you jiggle them...
what does counter rotation and false set mean? thanks
Google "lockpicking detail overkill". Short primer on picking and it explains most terms and the reasons locks can be picked in the first place.
+Mark England thanks!
Just when I thought the opening sequenced couldn't get any stranger... Who? What? A plane? Huh?
I embrace it
I'm digging the A380

I would like to see you to this on a locked door !
I would have expected a T-Pin as key pin would AID in picking, not hinder it. Can anyone explain?
I suppose it tends to be over-set.
I see how oversetting this would be a problem were you to pick it the other way around - so that gravity pulls the pins into the bible.
But this T-Pin in the cylinder would just fall back out, were you to overset, would it not?

nice lock lab A380. that UA-cam money must be rollin in lol

you should make ASMR videos!
Hasn't he learned by now that these locks won't open if they're not being filmed?
Bill, why dont you have your wife or neighbor open the key and try it so you make sure it works and dont waste a lot of unnecessary time?
