Everytime you drop a pin or a spring Bill, I shutter, knowing I'd never find it but you magically catch it in the best possible places. LOL Love your videos
I recently found out that Bill has retired from YT to spend his time with his family. I owe this man for igniting in me a love for lock picking. Everything I know about it was learned from watching his videos. Enjoy your retirement and your family, Bill!! Stay safe, Stay legal!! Regards, -Bob
Great video, you really made it through that fast though. Kinda wanna see how a pick gun or bump gun handles some of these challenge locks after you pick your way through.
Hi Bill, I'm not sure but I think the purpose of the gold foil combined with the weak spring is to promote the oversetting of pin 6. Once you overset it, the pin is held up in the bible by the foil. Would be interesting to hear the reasoning behind that from the guy who made the lock.
Bill, if you buy yourself the Multipicks electrpick, can you use it to try the locks that you pick. I just got it, the electropick and would love to see more of your technique in using it.
could be - i listened to it a few times (and tried to auto-generated subtitles) but all i could hear was sintered - maybe it is just his pronunciation.
No, let me know how it turns out. Temperature control, quenching and cool down must be carefully controlled for success, so I never tried. Also, I found that buying quality picks from the get go negated the need to try hardening things.
Has anyone else had the thought that clamping a cylinder like this one very slightly ovals the cylinder walls therefore increasing the shear line open space right above the core where the top and bottom pins would split? I think it may be possible to take the cylinder walls out of round enough to gain a couple of thousandths of extra room making picking somewhat easier. I am not saying Bill isn't an excellent picker by all means, just curious if anyone else has had the same thought. Keep in mind some of the locks he gets that are like this are very poorly machined (some cast) to begin with. By the way Bill I learned a lot from watching your techniques, thanks for the instructional videos.
Hello there. I have a story to tell from my youth. I used to live with this dude who was a big ass stoner. He used to keep his weed in a lock box in his wardrobe which isn't a bad idea at all. But he also used to keep his Swiss Army knife right beside the lock box. I had noticed that his Keef tray was getting mighty full one day and was the type to smoke your joints with you but not smoke his with you. He would also take it upon himself to quickly grind up your weed in his grinder at every opportunity. Go make coffee comeback to find your weed ground up as a "favour" so I decided to poke around in his room and see if I could find it. That's when I found the lock box and SA Knife together. Oh how I laughed as I took out the scissors unfolded them and rocked the end of one blade inside the lock. It was almost immediate. I then cleaned out his keef tray Into a little pot and hid it under a floorboard in his own room in his own wardrobe after taking one joint worth from it. (When I rented the house first on my own I installed several slip floorboards and panels around the house before taking in housemates) Then every day for about a month I would celebrate this dude going to work by going into his room and taking a joints worth from the pot til it was empty. He noticed it missing the first day but besides not being able to tell who it was of me and 2 other dudes he was also a sneaky miserly fucker who didn't want us to know he had a stash box and even though he was certain one of us found it he didn't want the rest of us to know about it. So he never mentioned it. I don't feel bad because of his attitude and the fact that I didn't take rent for December for 3 years straight. I remember panicking a little when I couldn't get the lock to close at first but after about a minutes wiggling I got it to lock again. Morals of this story. Don't store your crap in a shitty lock box. Don't leave the tools to break into your shitty lock box right in front of said lock box. Don't be a snakey miser. Don't live with me if you are. Don't do drugs....
jack002tuber the guy drilled at 180 degrees from the Bible... in order to undercut and tread the Bible... you can see the tape is covering the holes... if you go 180, then the pins would fall into the holes...
The "secret" seems to be in the tensioning. If you can keep really light tension, the pins are less likely to get caught up on all the devilry that people put into these challenge locks. That, and thousands of hours of practice :)
Something else to consider: While the lock was relatively easy for Bill, he's been picking for years. Yet, it still took him ~10 minutes to pick. From what I've seen in Oreos videos, many companies rate on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being hardest (10+ min to pick.) Alan provided what many companies would rate as their most secure level lock. Color me impressed.
Chilledfish I image if I was a criminal I might try to rake it quickly. If it took more than a few moments there would probably be quicker methods of entry.
I think they may rake and if that fails, pull out bolt cutters or even a battery operated grinder. They're generally not educated in lockpicking as drug money is their first priority!
Would be "Nice" if someone who made a challenge lock, put in a mummified blank key instead of the real one. As he has picked it, he locks it back up and looks what the key is like, he notices that the key is blank an has Pick the lock again in order to gut it.
The lock was fantasmagorical. This channel just gets better and better...the Rolls Royce of lock picking videos.
Thank you!
A lot can be learned from this video come September 20th. This will help tremendously in the Area 51 raid
“Oh, don’t go past 90 Bill!”
Made me laugh aloud.
lots of new pinning trays Bill. Nice.

15:02 you look *FABULOUS* I did not expect for you to look like that
Great video, you really made it through that fast though. Kinda wanna see how a pick gun or bump gun handles some of these challenge locks after you pick your way through.
I'll second that.
great lock Alan. Can't wait to see your next lock
Love the new intro graphics! Very cool and well done.😎
Jeep pinning Tray! 😂😂😂
Nice picking Bill! Very nice lock! I'm going to undercut the bible in my next challenge lock!
Great job on the lock and picking
Love that tray made to look like a Jeep!
Dave Kimball then it belongs in the trash
Nice lock. Great name. Good pick!

You are an artist
How is it Bosnianbill is so clumsy and an expert lock picker ?
man Bill i had no idea you had such nice hair!
Like a paintball match gone crazy. Excellent lock too, it would drive me nuts.
Bill, if you buy yourself the Multipicks electrpick, can you use it to try the locks that you pick. I just got it, the electropick and would love to see more of your technique in using it.
somethign about sintered spring seems wrong. You sure sintered is the correct word?
ABaumstumpf..i thought the same, maybe he said centred?
could be - i listened to it a few times (and tried to auto-generated subtitles) but all i could hear was sintered - maybe it is just his pronunciation.
I think he meant centered...
what did he mean by cutting slots in the warding? just small holes in between and offset from where the pins are?
Nice work Alan 🤙
lots of good alien technology in area 51 lol
Hey Bill, The last pin has been knurled. I guess the thinking is that it will grab the threading under tension.
Kind of looks like solder on the last pin to me.
Would a knurled pin gain anything other than obstruct the lock's basic function?
I haven been watching that long and was wondering why does he/you use the tension tench on the top
Tension wrench on the top of the keyways frees up the bottom and has no drag on the bottom of the Bible
Hey Bill. Just wanted to let you know that you need to update the winners page on your site. Great video today.
Nice pick!
Bill you are greatly missed. In the community.
hey bill first off great vid and second ive been thinking about hardening my picks have you ever done that or even heard of doing it??
No, let me know how it turns out. Temperature control, quenching and cool down must be carefully controlled for success, so I never tried. Also, I found that buying quality picks from the get go negated the need to try hardening things.
Learning tons by the day, keep em coming. Thanks hope to win one day:-p
If you ever want to go into another career try Dentistry you remind me of my dentist when he's picking through my mouth
Just as long as there's no serrated pin to be found in one of your molars :')
love the videos

What brand of vice do you use

Don't do drugs....
What kind of pick was that
Why was it you couldn't turn it past 90 degrees? Was there something there to catch the pins?
jack002tuber the guy drilled at 180 degrees from the Bible... in order to undercut and tread the Bible... you can see the tape is covering the holes... if you go 180, then the pins would fall into the holes...
I see. That would explain it. Thanks
Why would you sinter a spring
The outro music for this video sounds like it belongs in one of the Unreal Tournament games.
I got a birthday this coming Saturday and been picking for about 6 months and would like to have a good pick set i be turning 25 and a EMT/security
get em Billiam
you should do a video about using Bobby pins to pick lol
i really don't like that pinning tray! the autofocus of your camera likes the text on it way too much ;)
Why was it so easy to pick then? The lock is amazing we can all agree, but how with all that craziness was the lock not Uber difficult?
The "secret" seems to be in the tensioning. If you can keep really light tension, the pins are less likely to get caught up on all the devilry that people put into these challenge locks. That, and thousands of hours of practice :)
I wouldn't say it was easy. Take into account the experience of who is picking and that at moments he seemed unsure what was happening.
Because Bill is an olympic level lock picker.
Something else to consider:
While the lock was relatively easy for Bill, he's been picking for years. Yet, it still took him ~10 minutes to pick. You are a lock picking god
Don't tell Mrs Bob, but she over did the makeup at the end. Good video as usual.
oops meant to say Mrs Bill
Watching these videos make me wonder. Do criminals really pick locks?
yes
Chilledfish no. Takes too long
Chilledfish I image if I was a criminal I might try to rake it quickly. If it took more than a few moments there would probably be quicker methods of entry.
Generally no they dont bother.
I think they may rake and if that fails, pull out bolt cutters or even a battery operated grinder. They're generally not educated in lockpicking as drug money is their first priority!
327th (Please no "That's what she said" jokes)
- Thats what *he* said.
Lol burn ^
Would be "Nice" if someone who made a challenge lock, put in a mummified blank key instead of the real one. As he has picked it, he locks it back up and looks what the key is like, he notices that the key is blank an has Pick the lock again in order to gut it.
If the key doesn't work it doesn't really feel valid. I mean..I can make an unpickable "lock" if I don't have to provide a working key ;-)
Keez11 Yeah, just put a metal bar, you don't even need a lock if it doesn't require a key.
Nah, just put the most ridiculous security pins and warding possible and then it's pinned to the blank
I wonder if the "foil" is a chip left behind from either manufacturing or modification of the bible?
plot twist: thekey is for area 51
Great video I'd love to get into lock picking, it would be nice if you would help me out bill
Bailey Marquette his website (check description) has everything you need to get started. (pick suggestions, lock suggestions, tutorials)
Do You Believe?
firs......
i gotta learn to tyoe faster....
first
Get a life.
I haven been watching that long and was wondering why does he/you use the tension tench on the top
