I remember first stumbling on ClownCore thanks to the UA-cam algorithm, I honestly wish I could bottle up the hilarity, the shock and the downright appreciation of their musical chops in that moment. I can listen to them unironically now. Also, going to see them in London in just under 4 weeks!
The blast featuring my favorite part. The Grindcore shit they play is amazing. And the locations they pick to make these videos are absolutely hilarious. I am noticing that we are actually hearing the music that they are recording live in these videos. If you look at their hands and watch the drummer you will be able to tell that the recordings we are hearing are the ones we are looking at. It's legit! And they're good!
This in itself was a relaxing watch but I am genuinely grateful that you shared the playlist of the music used in the background of your video. haircuts for men took me to another place. At this moment, a better one. Thank you.
2:17 what you are describing is actually a polymeter and not a polyrhythm, a polymeter is two time signatures played a the same time like you have described, a polyrhythm however is two different number of notes called tuplets, a triplet is a kind of tuplet, it resides where 4 would normally go but play three there, a polyrhythm of 4 against 3 would simply be to play that triplet but play a quadruplet in the same span of the bar, It's a common mistake so I'm not trying to be mean about that, but yeah. 🤡
The riff about 1 minute into computer is transcendent. I go from getting chills to dying of laughter due to the absurdity of some of the stuff they do. They are a master class in performance art.
They remind me of Mr OIZO so much. No influence no fame chasing , only creativity and experiment, with a little F you all at the end. I don't even know if it's on purpose, but remember his most popular track is called "Flat Beat" feat Eric Flat the one and only.
Honestly I stumbled upon them through the vestige of AS and fell in love with crazy fusion of sounds. They definitely are unique and listening to their discography for me in deeper appreciation for their work. ESP Brendan Fraser from their first album.

I dragged my wife along without letting her know where we were going to, as I personally don't know anyone who can appreciate Clown Core. Thankfully she didn't walk out as she appreciates theatre but I'm still unable to express why I'm so crazy about this band. She says because I have more of a background in music and I have done some drumming, but honestly, it's so much more. Somehow it all fits, but you're unable describe why, which is tragic. I'm sad.
The incredible groove their performances have, combined with the absurdist theatre and the juxtaposition of harsh electronic sounds against the beautiful smooth jazz passages is so unique. I'm somewhat sad none of my friends seem to "get it" either. People look at it and see a funny meme, but it's so much more than just an absurd shitpost. Its backed by a fuckton of musical talent and interesting soundscapes and most people don't have the context to appreciate it.

I saw em in Paris. It was one of the most nihilistic things I've ever witnessed. Not in a bad way, but the visual show and the delivery felt more than ever like a cold hard lens on consumerism, the military industrial complex, the frightening mental distortion and dumbing down caused by the Internet, the cognitive dissonance of human social constructions around what we award compassion and what we treat with cruelty. The sickening hypocrisy, the vanishing irrelevance of humanity. These are themes that Louis Cole and KNOWER explore anyway so it kind of scans. Honestly, one of the best shows I've been to, but also chillingly chillingly bleak under all the penis and fart gags.
Nicely stated! I just watched a video of the Paris show, which was quite amazing in many ways. I agree, it seems like commentary at times. But is it? Maybe the joke's on us for taking it seriously!
