Loved the moon/sun on the water...... we went across Brighton > Cherbourg once and watched the moon rise with the path through the water off the port beam and the sun set with the path through the water off the starboard beam...at the same time...... gorgeous
A view from the UK. Great to have you back guys, it means i'm back on me sailing 'oliday. Your mention of the endoscope got me a'thinkin. What other "gadgets" would you or your viewers, consider useful but not essential, when setting off to sail the world? That includes spares. PS; Linda and me got married in Scicli, Ragusa, lovely place. Blame the programme "inspector Montalbano".
Ooh now there’s a question. You definitely come up with some questions that get me thinking Robert! Spares is relatively easy to answer…just keep everything!! Oh wait we don’t have the space 😬😬😂 I do keep all kinds of random offcuts of various materials, old wetsuit makes great hatch gaskets, sheet plastic for making alsorts out of! In Montenegro I was known as the guy who’d have any spares! Funny story though….I’d owned a rubber mallet for 20+ years and basically never used it so in a moment of drastic clear out I binned it (as I do have 3 other hammers! 😂) Less than 2 weeks after binning it we bent a stanchion in a storm. Asked my dad, the engineer, best way to repair it and he advised, yep you guessed it, a rubber mallet! 😂😂 I’m sure I have other useful non essential gadgets but can’t think of them right now! I’ll let you know if I come across anything else 😊⛵️
Nice video guys. Random split pins on deck are always a cause for concern , thankfully nothing serious occurred. We were at Termini Imerese during May and can confirm that Mt Etna had a covering of snow. Look forward to your next instalment. Cheers Nige and Donna now in Monastir Tunisia.😊
Thanks guys. Yes the random split pin had us re-anchor and climb the mast just as we were leaving for a 5 day passage. I was perplexed and concerned that I couldn’t find any pins missing on the mast but reasoned that maybe it had been there a long time and been washed out from under something on a previous passage but it appears I was too fixated on the mast and missed checking the vang! I’m amazed that it took over a year and several thousand miles before the vang fell off though! Totally my bad for not checking more thoroughly! And Yes we went part way up Etna and saw the snow. Hope life is good in Monastir…thanks for commenting 😊⛵️
I own a Najad 390 hull#90 here in the US on LIS very few Najad here I believe I own the only 390 in the US It is interesting to to see all your issues with the boat as I have many of the same they are great boats If you ever get over here and up north I hope we can get together
Hi Bill, thanks for the message. Yes they are lovely boats and I imagine quite rare over your side of the pond. We don’t yet know whether we’ll cross over one day but if we did it’d be great to get together for a Najad meet up. Glad you’re enjoying our videos. Thanks for getting in touch 😊⛵️
Hi guys…So the plotter and Radar we bought ourselves in 2020 and the smaller displays we fitted over the winter just gone. We were lucky enough to become Raymarine Ambassadors late last year so they supplied the smaller displays and the transducers for them. It’s a really nice set up now. So we have a Raymarine Axiom 12+ plotter, a Quantum 2 Doppler Radar and the smaller displays are 3 x i70s. They are really cool as you can choose what to display on them and can have separate pages to display even more. Hardest thing is deciding what to display! Those are our main electronics then we have an old Icom radio and a NASA (british electronics company not the space agency!) exhaust temp alarm. I am trying hard to get a video made of the upgrades to the electronics but making regular episodes and sailing it may take a while longer but keep an eye out for that 😊⛵️
I’m not sure the exhaust monitor will make it into a video anytime soon, not in any detail anyway. If you Google “NASA marine EX-1” you’ll find all the details 😊 And our lifejackets are Spinlock deckvests. Ours are quite old but they still make them. The latest version is the Deckvest 6D. They are nice jackets 😊
Great video, love the clear night moon light
Cheers Jim! It was a fabulous moonlit night 😍

Sounds stunning Janice. There is something quite special about night sailing 😍⛵️
Good to see you both in NARPO news
Haha! Thanks we’ve putting it about a bit lately with Yachting Monthly, Narpo and the Fed mag…all good for the viewing figures! 😂😂⛵️
Fantastic video.
Thank you, nice of you to say so 😍⛵️
Good boat !!
Thank you 😍

Not sure that I'd enjoy the Chinese version of a chip butty but needs must when you're peckish.
Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it Pete! I’ve no idea what made me try it but it was really nice! 😂😂😊
Great video! I have a question on your electronics. How long ago did you get them and would you be willing to list what models you have? Thanks!

My husband would love to see a video on the exhaust temperature monitor. He also wanted to know what life vest you wear. He really likes it

Nope, you can’t fix it.
Haha! Wanna bet?! 😂
