From the tin: "A heavy Latakia blend with white Burley ribbon, bright Virginia flake, and a good amount of rough-cut cigar leaf."
Watching these older vids and hearing the tin prices is starting to bum me out man.
In Australia, $98USD for a 1.75 Oz tin. All tobacco product here is taxed equally. Ouch!
This blend, for me anyway, feels like it wants to go and run away with heat but the large chunks of cigar leaf really cool it down.
I'm impressed.
Thanks for sharing!
This is the blend that PipefriendCHS would smoke in those giant pipes of his
Marc was the first pipe guy I ever watched on youtube back in high school. I wonder what he is up to these days.
@@AustinHellersionnix Same here. I wish there was a way to rewatch those videos. He’s the reason my name has been boswell for the past 12 years lol
If anyone knows anything about him, please let us all know.
Great mixture. Tasted like a cigar, with a Latakia flavour to me, as opposed to a Latakia with a cigar flavour. I could taste the Virginia at times, as a subtle undertone, but the burley only showed up in the aftertaste . Excellent reading of the tin description too.
I remember living this blend. A decade or so ago i bought the 8oz can and smoked almost all of it. I still have 2oz in a Mason jar. Im looking forward to smoking it aged as soon as i rehydrate it a bit.
Good blended “Billy Budd” - a little dry, Yes!
Cigar leaf cut adding flavor ..l
Love ít with my Paulson’s Devil Anse pipe!
I've been smoking Billy Budd for 5 years plus. I smoke 3 plus pounds of it a year. I love it. Also I like Nightcap, and Balkan blends
I absolutely love this blend. It has a fantastic flavor, bold smokey, rich and full flavored. It really hits the spot. I wouldn't age a blend of these varietals. The flavor is best when a proper moisture level is maintained in the tobacco. If too dry, it smokes with frequent harsh spots and the cigar leaf is loud
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Ryder Julien I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Ryder Julien it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account !
@Nickolas Kaiser You are welcome xD
Planta's Full English is my smoke and it has Latakia and Java cigar leaves. You will taste both tobaccos, but you won't taste the Virginia tobacco. All the Virginia tobacco does is to make the blend smoke a little hotter than without it in the blend.
Bradley this was a great tobacco review but for me this blend is a bit to strong for me but hopefully ill get to try it some day thanks for a great review happy smokes my friend😄😃😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 best regards peter.
I love this blend. The blonde version is also on my list.
I like that pipe. A Black bowl and green stem look good together
Thanks for the review. Doesn't sound too compelling to put on my list....
Great vid Bradley. Thanks a lot.
Trying it... i love padrons and latakia. Might be blended purely for me
Billy bud sounds like Haunted Bookshop minus the perique.
Ah, the taste and scent of the old rum & lash...?
Thank You for this enjoyable and comprehensive review, good as always, I'd try this tobacco If the latakia was dropped off the blend, I'd be preferred Burley&CigarLeaf with some minor Virginiawould have been sufficient to me, Greets.P
This stuff is much better when cut with a little red Virginia.
Great review, thanks.
I tried it a few bowls..but still 965 is the best blend for me
You like cigars you’ll like this blend
Pipefriend CHS loved this blend. Too bad he took down all of his videos
Any chance you review the blonde version as well? I really like BBB.
Does anyone know if there is any latakia in this blend?
Sorry this is 3 years late, but yes there is.
wooo nice just got home and a parcel was waiting for me there. Ordered 250 grams of full virginia flake and 250g of St. james flake. Gonna unbox and can those as i watch thiss.
Question for those who may know, do all Cornell & Diehl blends stay lit easily? I've only had OJK and Haunted Bookshop and they light like an OTC blend which I very much appreciate.
I just smoked a bowl of it. It’s delicious!
I favor Billy budd blonde. Looove the stuff!!
It’s also a fantastic movie. I recommend everyone watch it.
Have you tried Purple Cow?
Hi Bradley, can I take this as a peppery spicy blend??
Cool shirt
I’m a new pipe smoker and have been binging your reviews, and I have to ask - what is the song you use for your intro/outro? It’s stuck in my head and I want to listen to the whole thing lol
Other than that, I enjoy the thoroughness of your reviews, even if I don’t quite understand everything yet.

I'm pretty sure it's Bradley's band and an original song. And it's from some years back. He mentioned this in a video but it was only mentioned as an aside so I have no idea which video.
So what your saying is there is Latakia in this blend
no, not exactly
Hi. I have just bought my first pipe and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good tobacco's for a beginner. Thanks, appreciate any help.
Cornell & Diehl alone have over 200 blends to choose from. Check out their website and look for a name that catches your eye. I would avoid blends with Latakia as a beginner as this type of tobacco is very strong (leather, campfire, barnyard) and may not smell very nice. Also, the Cornell & Diehl factory tour on UA-cam is very interesting and they talk about several of their popular brands. If you want something unique check out Stuff & Things review of Peterson deluxe Navy Rolls. Pressed into coin shape and smells good in the tin. Hope this helps
Full Metal alchemist .... nice =_=
If you like cigars you will like "Billy Bud"... If you do not like cigars you will not like it.....
Lol you sound like plankton
cingram8168 I WENT TO COLLEGE!
I bought an ounce of this tobacco to sample. I was a cigar smoker for many years and thought I'd enjoy this. I find that I struggle to finish a bowl of this blend. I should have known I wouldn't like it because I've never really like Maduro cigars. Anyone know of a pipe tobacco that uses Habano or Corojo leaf?
Owen Johnson L. J. Peretti uses Havana in their Blend 500.
Pipes, etc., I think I'll have to try that. The description of Billy Budd has never really appealed to me, but Blend 500 sounds more nuanced and therefore more interesting. A fair number of people seem well pleased with a number of the Peretti blends on Tobacco Reviews; I think ordering a bunch of the one ounce samplers could be a fun time. Thank you for bringing this up, I was unfamiliar with Peretti tobaccos.
Glenn Horowitz Glenn, I’m pleased my suggestion helped. I did exactly what you have suggested; buy a number of 1 oz bags of Peretti’s blends.
I found a number I truly appreciate; Blend No. 52 👍, Cuban Mixture 👍, No. 8 Slice 👍👍, Blend 500 👍👍, British Blend 👍 & Tashkent 👍. Still working on the others... ✌️
Peretti make some very best cigar leaf blends out there
I've never tasted anything quite like it. I don't find the nicotine overpowering. But if you like me your wife will let you in the house afterwards due to the smell
