What I love the most about this movie, is that Frank crearly outmaches Chong Li, and that he has to cheat to take the upper hand, and Frank doesnt go over the power of love, friendship or whatever crap to come to the top, but merely aplying his training.
I always figured when he was screaming he was calling out to his master and his master responds with something like "i trained you for this moment, you don't need to see to fight and you know that"

I think you all need to be humbled for you're lack of faith in the great kumite champion Mr. Frank Dux. I know this because he once took me to a kumite and I saw many men in karate uniforms clearly preparing to do something vile and extremely violent by the way leered but then I passed out which was Franks way of saving my life by drugging my drink because no one can witness kumite and live who does not fight and kill other kumitayers. When I woke up the kumite little people had disposed of the evidence and went back to a forest in China where they wait until the next time comes around to find the greatest fighter on earth but clearly a furious battle had been waged because not only were my clothes in shreds and I was sore from head to toe and somehow wearing some poor woman's bra, I shudder to think of what happened to her obviously Frank couldn't save everyone it only makes me more thankful l he was on my side, kid. interestingly I also had on what seemed at first to be lipstick and mascara but Frank said was really just tribal ninja war paint he had applied to my face so everyone would know i was the one Frank bought i mean brought. I don't understand why there are people who say this movie hasn't aged well, obviously there are many things about the fashion of the eighties that look strange compared to today, and some scenes that are a little cheesy in the dialogue, but I think that in 80% of the film remains solid, and I think the hypnotic soundtrack helps a lot in that.

I don't understand why there are people who say this movie hasn't aged well, obviously there are many things about the fashion of the eighties that look strange compared to today, and some scenes that are a little cheesy in the dialogue, but I think that in 80% of the film remains solid, and I think the hypnotic soundtrack helps a lot in that.

It's hilarious how telegraphed the kicks and punches are. I know it's for the audience, but all these moves should have no problem being countered.

when I was a kid, I didnt really like Van damme and yet I preferred Seagal, now as an adult it's the other way around.
I'd say Van Damme has more ability in his smallest toe, than Seagal has in his entire body and soul.
