This song gives me an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and brings a tear to my eye. When I was around 5 or 6, my dad would work half days on Fridays so he would pick me up from school and take me to get ice cream, go to the mall or go to the park. In the car, he would play his favourite 70s, 80s, and 90s songs that we would both sing a long to including this one which was one of my favourites. Up until today I forgot about this song and haven’t heard it in years but I heard it playing again for the first time today when I stopped at a drugstore and it unlocked one of my very few precious childhood memories. Love you dad ❤
so i'm american, and my best friend and i drove up to toronto, from chicago, in 2003, and when not too shortly after we crossed the border, this song came on the RADIO! will always remember it. (this song has never been on american radio)
My best friend Jane was in an accident that caused severe brain damage and left her very disabled as she is paralyzed and can’t talk. I still visit her every once in a while and when I play this song her face lights up with pure joy. ❤
I used to sing this to a coworker everytime I saw her. She was a sweet older lady who served us tea (Japanese company) at 3pm everyday. That must've beed in the early 2000s and I just found out from a former coworker she passed May 2019. I searched for this right away. This will always be her song. Rip Jyuri "Jane" Oda...
One of the best songs they ever did. Anyone else listen to this on Boom 97.3 and K-FUN during our short summers? Pure Bliss with the windows down. Some of the best times of my life are when the DJ says the ladies are coming up on a Saturday evening.........
I woke up this morning with this song randomly in my head. I haven’t heard it in years but still sounds just as fresh as when I first heard it years ago! 🇨🇦
@@nigelking17 Partially true. The girl who works at the store wasn't named Jane, but she was a girl who worked at a health food store on the Danforth/Riverdale in the east end in 1993. But the name came from the corner of Jane Street and St Clair Avenue West which the song's co-writer TinTin Duffy thought sounded like the a pretty name for a not so nice street corner (that corner is crackhead central).
We have no idea how we influence people sometimes, at least sooner. And I became a lifelong fan of this band when I was 10 and Digimon Movie and Grinch played songs.
My big sister died 9 days ago. This was one of her favorite songs. Her middle name was Jane and she always loved BNL and identified with this song specifically. Only saw them once in Colorado. Very disappointed that Steven was not among them! The show was great but lacking because of his absence. Glad he is back! Stay strong Steven, everyone one missed your presence. God Bless!
I don't think Steven Page is back with them. They reunited for the Junos a couple years ago, which was cool, but BNL is still a 4 piece now and Page is still solo.
@@balthasardenner5216 yeah, Steve is still doing the solo thing and the rest of BNL is continuing on as a 4 piece with a new album coming out this summer (I've heard July for it but can't find anything to confirm/deny this)
I always liked the casting of Jane in this video. She's an attractive woman that you can imagine the band members would be infatuated with but she isn't like a supermodel that would be completely out of their league either. That actress is exactly what the "cute girl working at the store" looks like.
I find that with her facial appearances, she has a way of looking the same but different in each shot; furthermore, I find that she looks the most attractive with her "approving" smile in response to the fish! 😉❤️
I just listened to The Hilarious World of Depression podcast with Steven Page as the guest. He was dealing with a depressive episode on the day of filming this. Grateful to Steven for sharing his journey.
