How lucky we were to have grown up in the 90’s and experienced this great time in music
I was lucky to grow up in 60 an 70s
An there were a few groups in the nineties that I could listen to .
But now there is total rubbish
born in 63. had 2 older brothers serve overseas, in war. taught me the real classics. grew up in the late '70s with KISS, etc. served my time in the early 80's with GUNS N ROSES, etc. worked and partied through the 90's. then the music started to turn to shit. today's "music" does not have an original bone in it. shame.
As someone who was born after 2000, you don't even fucking know how lucky you are.

In my mid 20s as of writing this comment.
I heard this song playing just as I was cleaning up from working on an old chainsaw in the family shop. It made me stop in my tracks and look up what this song was called.
I stayed outside just to listen to it finish on the radio before shutting everything off.

I was born in 90, I fairly certain this was one of the first songs I ever remember hearing.
That’s absurd, you can’t remember anything before you were about three or four years old. You absolutely heard songs before then that you can’t remember.

I am a guy who was a child in the 70's, teenager in the 80's and grown in the 90's and the early mid 90's were as good as any time period I saw. These guys, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Black Crowes, Soundgarden...its a shame it didn't last longer before Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Kanye, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, 98 degrees and the damn Spice girls took over. Nothing has been the same after. Thanks God for Sirius so we don't have to listen to pop radio.
Yes! Everything thing you said!❤
I would def smoke a blunt/drink a beer/or just fucking go sober bowling with you dude.

I just can't ever listen to the radio these days. It's why I had to buy a car with a CD player so I can keep listening to real music like these guys 😊
Perfectly said. I am also in that Older Gen X age group, and fortunate to be. We had it best I believe.
@theknowitall4090 born in 93 and to give some context the first tapes my dad ever gave me were 2pacs me against the world and nwa straight outta Compton. The first cds he ever bought me were james brown greatest hits and kid rock cocky. Then of course I grew up on all the best RandB and old school jazz , throw in the Elvis and hank Williams and then mix in the black sheep cousins mix of slipknot and Metallica fused with Linkin park and YESSSSS some fucking nickelback and BOOM you have 3percent of the shit I grew up on 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
In my mind, this is one of the most amazing songs ever written, especially considering it didn't absolutely smash the charts like it so richly deserved to. It's an absolute masterpiece.

Very underrated. Great song. Great lead vocal. Collective Soul is great and unique. Miss 90’s!
30 years later and I still remember this like it was yesterday. A much happier and exciting time to be alive back then. The 90’s were super rad, the music was great, everyone still loved the country no matter what difference of opinion, and the tv shows were awesome. A continuation from the amazing 80’s. This video is bittersweet.
It's because we were young. Nothing else changed. We did.

The 90's were fantastic for music. Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Garbage, Collective Soul, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Gin Blossoms just to name a few. Born in 1957, grew up with the greatest music ever made. I salute the last generation that grew up on real music.
Franklin Zappa i was born in 2000 but my fathers from 1964 so i grew up on everything you guys had. Im ashamed of music nowadays
Man 1963 to mid from 69 to 90s people make real music!
@Franklin Zappa I was also born in 1963, but I've come to the conclusion that the 90s were actually the greatest musical generation. I love the music of the 60s and 70s. But, I think that by the 90s there were so many influences to draw on and many bands were picking disparate sources they liked and combining them in really interesting ways. And I think that the combination of world weary cynicism, heart felt angst, and humor that was so much part of 90s music is a particularly good combination.
Also, partly it was because the economy was good and downloading had yet to prove the completely moral bankruptcy of the general public, so there was riskable cash and the labels were willing to throw anything at the wall and see if it stuck. That's really how it should be, but it can only happen when times are good. And that's probably not going to ever happen again. The economy will cycle back up at various points but the public isn't going to suddenly grow a conscience and start actually paying for music at it's actual value to their lives.
If you didn’t put in the effort to find the good, independent, and experimental music of the 00’s and 10’s then it’s easy to see how you’d think music had already peaked by then. However, as someone born in ‘89, I can comfortably say that the best music is being made in the modern era. We built upon the psych foundation laid by you all in the 60’s and knew where to take it next. The next generation will continue doing the same. To hell with this notion that the best music has already happened.
@@BroadcastsFromPoorFarm You are missing the point. The fact that some folks are doing something in their bedrooms and posting it to UA-cam where the probably get a few hundred views or some such, is not the same thing. I think it's great folks are doing it, but the fast majority of people will not dig, sadly. Back then a shovel wasn't required, and that completely changes things.

Marlon- I know your heartache and I am so sorry for your pain. I lost my baby sister too, July 8, 2019. She was only 47 for 6 weeks. Cancer took her from us. She was a magical soul. She left behind so many that love and miss her every single day, including two young sons. For me, it feels like I miss her every minute!!! I’m scared to think I’ll still hurt this much in ten years. Like you said, our sisters wouldn’t want that, they’d want us to go on and be happy. I know that with all of my heart. My sister was so loving and giving. I feel your hurt even though it was 1995. Based on her age, she was the same age as my only other sister, the youngest in our family. Ironically, my only daughter was born 2 months after you lost your sister. Life is a fragile circle. So very fleeting. I can tell you hold on to all of the precious memories. I’m sure by now our sisters spirits have connected. May you feel a little peace in your heart today. Hugs from afar.🤗😇😇☮️💟🛐🕊🦋🌈🌹🕯
I'm so sorry you lost your sister that way. I lost my brother at 26 in a car accident so I know it's hard to deal with. I try to do things he would've enjoyed but didn't get the chance to
Pretty much every song they released in the 90s reminds me of my childhood and my late sister. Their music just makes me feel good!
Highly underrated band.
Brings back great teenager memories for a 1980 baby. I sure do miss these simple times.
It's December 1st 2021 and I still love this song many years after it was released!
I tuned into this for the same reason, to ring in December!
Team December 2021 🙌🏼
Me too ✋

Absolutely love ❤️
I was 11 years old when I saw this band perform live. My babysitter took me to the X Fest in 1999. It shaped my music tastes, and 25 years later, I'm still rocking out. This was and still is the coolest sound I've ever heard. ❤
That's a good babysitter 😂
Your parents find out?
@paulmcfarland8668 My mom allowed me to go. 😆 The only time I got in trouble for going to a concert was when I momentarily borrowed her car in 2004 or 2005. That was the only one she kept me from going to. 😆
They are still amazing in concert!
I'm going to see them for the first time next year
Most underrated 90s rock song period. Thank you collective soul
Yup....i was born in 1968 and LOVED the 80's, especially the 70s music. But yes, the 1990's is the last decade of real music with real voices and real instrumentation.
I was never into grunge but I heard this in a store the other day and an enormous flood of unexpected emotions hit me. Weird. Maybe just nostalgic for my childhood, I remember this on the radio. It's funny how songs can store emotions and energy.
This isn't grunge.
@@vaskylark 100% not grunge
Have you been saved by putting your trust in Jesus?
It's not grunge. But it doesn't matter. It's about the nostalgia.
