  • My 1984 Landcruiser with HEI Distributor, Weber 38, SOR Headers, and Rebuilt Engine with less than 1000 miles on it.
    Update 9/27/2016 - That whistle was an intake leak, fixed by changing the manifold gasket. I no longer run the Weber carb or the HEI distributor. Back to stock for both. Runs great.

    Old video. HEI distributor required some work to hook up the tach. It is possible. I had it working in the past. That distributor has since blown up. Went back to stock. No issues since then.

    I did rebuild it myself. Thanks for your constructive comment.

      Alex Kline did you desmogg.yourself...was it hard? I want to do it to mine...can you post a video of the things you did...in a closer way

    I really need your help! Can you take a very slow video of the engine compartment following all required vacuum lines?
    What vacuum lines do you have hooked up? Looks like you DE-Smogged it. I have almost exact same setup (red) 38/38 weber brand new, factory distributor, de-smogged. I think I have a vacuum issue. It starts and runs, but wants to die if I dont help with the gas pedal. Very strong gas smell and eyes burn when started and running. Yes the garage door is wide open. I just need to see what is bare minimum vacuum requirements.
    Thanks a ton, in advance!

    I want to try the HEI update - Did you have to make the distributor hold-down?

    • @AlexKlineFJ60
      @AlexKlineFJ60  8 років тому

      I believe I bought one from an autoparts store. Just a general hold down for GM style distributor. If you are buying one of these I would suggest to get the unit that Man-a-Fre carries. HTH

    Old vid I know but if your still there I was thinking of doing a desmog to my 85 cruiser, taking off the air pump, plugging sir ports on the head etc. , I'll be using my stock carb/ Distributor, sounds like this is what you went back to , were you able to still keep it looking so clean , you know as it was in your vid, with all the vac. Lines gone , thanks
