Great information Dave!!! I’m presently prescribing both brand name and compound versions. Many cannot afford the brand name nor have insurance coverage for them. I’d far prefer to prescribe brand name only but that would leave out an entire segment of metabolically broken patients broken.
More info please
A vid like this was long overdue… and I’m not talking for OnThePen, I’m talking *anywhere,* in general. 😯
The shortages have made compounded GLP-1 meds a fact of life/commonplace, so a guide on how to VET the compounders was/is much needed.
There are good outfits out there, but also plenty of bad ones. People need a guide on how to *stay safe* (and also how not to get *ripped-off).*
💯 thanks man
I had to switch to a compounded version of Tirzepitide due to shortages of the 10 mg Mounjaro. The only surprising side-effect (besides the cost) was that I no longer experience having a weekly "injection-site rash" ... I believe it's because the Mounjaro Injection pen keeps the product in a truly "subcutaneous zone" whereas "Me + the needle(s) that comes with the compounded Tirzepitide = Potential Crime Scene" 🤕 I'm hoping my local pharmacy gets more name brand Mounjaro in soon.
I’m just a random dude, but I’d say look into the preservative.
@@ManOnTheMounjaro solid advice. 🙏🏼😇
Great explanation. How do we look a pharmacy up to find out any violations - compound? By state board?
It’s going to vary by state. Start with a google search that looks like:
“Your State Name” Board of Pharmacy
Dave, thank you for all you do! What an informative video. Keep up the great work! ❤
I never knew the difference. Thanks for the explanation!
Happy to help!
Thank you!
GREAT video !!!!
❤️
Great information as always

This was very interesting! I was wondering about the difference 🤔
Are there a list of 503b pharmacies and how do you know which medical providers are connecting with these 503b pharmacies vs others?
Hey Natalie! At the bottom of this article, I listed the link to 503b pharmacies listed on FDA website.

Are the compounds covered by medicare?
@@TheAlejandra8814no
@@TheAlejandra8814 I don’t believe the compounds are covered by any insurance.
Don’t see Hallandale in FL as 503b
U da man!!!
Hi Dave
#ReleaseTheVials
So could the compounds be making a shortage for Mounjaro or Ozempic? Are they using the original product to mix it??
There is no shortage of the medicine. The shortage is because of the type of injection pens they use. They can’t make the pens fast enough.
How is it that we still can’t say categorically where they source their API? It’s probably the ‘research grade’ salts that you can buy from China. Wouldn’t that be a slap in the face? Cut out the middleman and buy it for $20 a vial straight from the manufacturer. Is there any chance of getting either a compound chemist or FDA spokesperson on for an interview? Great work. Cheers.
I wish we could hear from the FDA on this!
What about Red Rock
Hmm… if the Release The Vials campaign succeeds (and it should) does this place then have to change its name to ‘On The Vial’? 🤔
(I mean, that’s what ppl will mostly be using, yeah?💡)
Though I remain partial to ‘Vial Thoughts’. 😏
Vial Thoughts…. So great!
IKR? 😄
Thanks for sharing. Question at last resort, if all fail finding branded medication...would you try compound of such? Its really scary because human definitely can make errors and just as well as machine but I over think alot. Please don't charge it to my heart
If I couldn’t get the branded meds, if I’d exhausted all the methods of finding it… I’d go to the next best option. If that wasn’t an option, I’d go to the next best… And so on.
@ManOnTheMounjaro ahhhh make sense. I'm picking up what you are definitely putting down. I really appreciate you for responding. I'm going to keep pushing on. I'm currently good on my brand names...able to get but not the dose...I just take whatever in stock...I pray it continues. 🙏🏾
@starshanae80 you’ve had a rough go. You’re not alone. We’re all just trying to get the best care we can ❤️
@ManOnTheMounjaro absolutely 💯! I know you are good man...pray for me buddy. All prayers aren't good prayers...but I know you good ppl. I thank you for everything and I hope to join you soon...just been going through it buddy
@@ManOnTheMounjaro you're right....well said!!!!
This guy sounds like he doesn’t know what the patented elements are. Its not the ingredients, it’s the needle injection technology. The FDA approves the efficacy of the compounds provided in large studies by Novonordisk.
Thats not the patent.
Here’s the patent for Tirzepatide, the compound itself: patents.google.com/patent/US9474780B2/en
Andddd Semaglutide: patents.google.com/patent/WO2006097537A2/en
