Frankly im dissapointed at how little destroying it can do. 1 gun on the front. A cpuple dozen active missle pods. A couple cwis it seems to be a bare minimum to me. You look at before they had missles on those big meusum battleships and i wonder if there isnt enough active missle pods and whatnot.

And 1) they could destroy any battleship ten times over before that battleship even saw them, and 2) ofc they‘re not going to be as big as a battleship, but guess what dimwit? The us navy has over 70 arleigh burkes, compared to less than ten battleships that were ever in active use at the same time.
@@jakewillits4678 With today's advanced weapons like hypersonic missiles etc., it's better to have multiple light and maneuverable ships than a few heavily armed but also slower and bigger targets. If one heavily armed ship is lost you lose a lot of firepower. At least that's what I think.
@@jakewillits4678 We (and the rest of the world) don't use battleships for the same reason we don't ride into war on horses. It's an outdated technology unfit for the modern theater of battle. 98 missile pods that carry a variety of munitions for different tasks, multiple auto cannons, torpedoes, and the CWIS is more than enough to eliminate the assigned targets and defend the boat. They aren't sailing out there completely alone.

Best friend's cousin was Ops officer for DDG-106 USS Stockdale. Sister to the Sterett. Went out for the day during Fleet Week. Got full access to ship like here in video. Watched 5" gun practice along with CWIS and other weapons (no missles, of course). INCREDIBLE experience to be on an active Navy ship at sea. THE highlight of my life next to my daughter's birth. Fair winds and following seas to all the Navy. To our allies, you will not find a more faithful friend. To our enemies, you will find us just as faithful.
As a 20-year retired Navy vet who served on three DDGs, this was one of the coolest Navy documentaries I’ve seen. It’s straightforward for people to get a good understanding of how the ship operates. I may be biased since I was surprised to see that I served with the LTJG when he was enlisted 2:27. He was a cool dude, from what I remember 🤣🤙🏾. Big thanks to all the sailors who, I’m sure, had to put in extra hours cleaning and planning to make this happen. You all did a fantastic job representing the Navy and the US! I know its not realistic but I fell in love with ships like this after watching "battleship" I loved seeing the Phalanx CIWS in action, and funnily enough it's how I found out that some old battleships like the USS Missouri recieved modern (for 80's) sensors, missiles and 4 Phalanx CIWS modules, they were used in the gulf war and could launch missiles which is strange for an old battleship!
@khoanguyenavia the Phalanx CIWS may not have the biggest caliber compared to some foreign equivalents, but it's the speed of the weapon that counts, these things can even take out some mortar and artillery rounds, not just missiles.
Yeah, I toured a active Navy Sub once, and they were super strict about what we could record. For example, we were not allowed to record anything regarding the capabilities of the radar. I am surprised that we are clearly seeing that here. We can see that one of the radars they are using has a range somewhere between 32 to 64 miles. In addition, we can see the scan rate. How this is on UA-cam, I don't understand.
@@AverageAlien our oldest destroyers are still capable performing midcourse intercepts of ballistic missiles. The Type 45 is a great ship but AEGIS is unmatched in capabilities.

Fun fact this ship actually has a laser installed, yes LASER. If you look close behind the forward missile deck just below the bridge, the grey color turret is the soft-kill laser known as ODIN, it can jam and destroy the sensors on enemy missiles.
Even with upgrades, the M1 is very gravely updated. About the only two items it has left going for it; the turbine engine and the levels of armor. It was in need of complete replacement over ten years ago
Regarding port security. In 2000 the USS Cole was refueling in Aden Yemen. It wasn't even in the port it was a few thousand yards outside refueling at a permanent barge. A suicide bomber came along side her in a speedboat. No one spotted the boat in time to act and 17 sailors were killed. Port security is VERY important, especially with drones becoming more accessible and deadly.
I remember in boot camp we had a simulation of the damage done to the Cole and that was no joke, definitely tests your resolve and especially knowing what happened. While we were even during training we had SEALs in smaller boats around us for protection.

This is the difference between China having a much larger Navy with less trained crew members, no war experience, far less technology in their ship. and the US with tons of war experience, the absolute best technology that noon else has and the best trained crews. The world knows.

12:00 our sensors are the best of the world... Until you've met the Dutch😂 or SMART-L was 6 years in advance acc you guys back in 2006. We've the ER version of it right now. Maybe we are still the best😂
SMART-L is in the L-band. SPY is in the S-band. Also all SPY including older SPY-1 have BMD capability, while SMART-L don't. They have to be upgraded for BMD, so not all SMART-L have BMD capability. To add newer SPY-6 have multiple arrays/RMA where each RMA can independently do its own thing from high to low elevation volumetric search, ballistic missile discrimination, missile communication, and even EW. The only comparable radar to have a similar feature is UK's dual face/array S-band Sampson radar. Besides that SPY-6 is also a dual band radar integrating an X-band radar thru its radar suite controller RSC similar to the Chinese dual band S/C Type 346A/B radar.

One thing that stands out to me is how diverse the crew is. The racial and ethnic diversity is just awesome, and truly representative of the melting pot that is our country.
Race doesn't matter, we are all Americans. United we stand, diversity isn't our strength. It's been the goal of the founding fathers to see everyone eye to eye. The Gulf of Yemen was "Hell" During Desert Storm/ Desert Shield.....

This is the difference between China having a much larger Navy with less trained crew members, no war experience, far less technology in their ship. and the US with tons of war experience, the absolute best technology that noon else has and the best trained crews. The world knows.

Experience is overrated, no one cares, and if you think even 5% of the USN’s enlisted has seen “war” or “combat” then you’re delusional. And no, China’s ships do not have “less technology”. They are on par, and better in some areas. If you actually knew what you were talking about, you’d know a Type 055’s radar, the Type 346, is a more powerful radar than any destroyer or cruiser the US currently possesses.

@@TonyChan-eh3nz No it doesn’t, because the experience argument died in February 2022. The US has zero serious modern day naval combat and hasn’t engaged in real large scale naval combat since WW2. Only four countries can say they have. Sorry, but the “experience” they’re getting from bombing insurgents with cruise missiles and shooting down cheap subsonic Houthi drones not even coming at them is fundamentally irrelevant and useless when you have a saturation of supersonic AShM’s and ASh ballistic missiles hurling towards your ship from all sides whilst battling with EW. They’ve never experienced the such and have no experience or know what to look for.

12:00 our sensors are the best of the world... Until you've met the Dutch😂 or SMART-L was 6 years in advance acc you guys back in 2006. We've the ER version of it right now. Maybe we are still the best😂
SMART-L is in the L-band. SPY is in the S-band. Also all SPY including older SPY-1 have BMD capability, while SMART-L don't. They have to be upgraded for BMD, so not all SMART-L have BMD capability. To add newer SPY-6 have multiple arrays/RMA where each RMA can independently do its own thing from high to low elevation volumetric search, ballistic missile discrimination, missile communication, and even EW. The only comparable radar to have a similar feature is UK's dual face/array S-band Sampson radar. Besides that SPY-6 is also a dual band radar integrating an X-band radar thru its radar suite controller RSC similar to the Chinese dual band S/C Type 346A/B radar.
@@johnsilver9338 the Dutch radar has bmd capabilities, uses multiple frequencies and can track multiple targets while guiding missiles towards targets. So i dont see it being inferior towards an spy 6 radar

Before you tube you wouldn't even see the deck of one of these ships. Now you can even do video tours. Some places are off limits tho.
Race doesn't matter, we are all Americans. United we stand, diversity isn't our strength. It's been the goal of the founding fathers to see everyone eye to eye. That "All men are created equal" with God given rights. We as Americans don't look at someone's race, but their character. That hard work pays. Race doesn't mean anything, as long as you love your country and are willing to fight for it you are an American. We aren't dividend, that nonsense comes from politicians and News anchors who profit off of saying lies like that. I'm tired of reading the News and hearing new stories about the "Orange Man bad" "threat to democracy" Bud, honestly who really believes that crap. Just another way to profit off politics. 🙄 We have other issues to deal with, not a bunch of rich ladies telling us how oppressed and miserable their lives are while they sit in million dollar houses.
