I love how realistic this makeover is: it's taking months of research and purchases (as it should be) and it's not an instant makeover as you see too often. I really love your last thrifted frame (the roses on the wood frame), it's maybe one of the star of the gallery wall.
What a warm and welcoming space! And I really love how much was thrifted and hand made. So much intention and thought was put into each aspect. I love staying in people's homes where the guest room has those personal touches.
That is THE coziest space! Love that all your planning and hard work came together to create such a lovely place for your guests to relax. (Downside: they won't want to leave!)
So fantastic. You're very talented. You definitely did NOT waste your time with the track of education you pursued! The only suggestion I have, and there literally is only one, is that you put an antique luggage holder/rack (bamboo, rattan??), since it doesn't appear that the room has a closet. That way your guests have somewhere to put their luggage and also use it as storage. But when no one is staying with you, it could add a nice touch to the room.
This is the most realistic make over of a room I’ve seen regards the time it can take and how other things in life take over, patience is always rewarded, the room is absolutely lovely and screams ‘Janelle’s style’ 💕
I agree. Things take time especially if you're shopping at thrift stores and finding just the right pieces. The room is beautiful even though it's simple. It's just such a calming space.
Beautiful work. I don't share your particular taste in colours, but I do so much appreciate seeing your process and seeing someone pursuing a sense of individual design. Head and shoulders above the grey minimalism of the last decade. I like the way the elements of the room speak to each other. I think putting in the effort to pleat the curtains was well worth it. The room looks elegant, but in an easy, warm way.
Ohhh, I've been hanging out to see your guestroom makeover and you certainly haven't disappointed. It's absolutely gorgeous, Janelle! Everything look so perfect!! Thank you for sharing it with us. Now I'm really looking forward to you doing a new pattern from your Japanese pattern books! I went and bought some from Etsy and I'm so excited to see you do another. They are such beautiful books and patterns! 🥰 Xxx
The room turned out so nice! I love the DIY things you made. I love sewing. I'm so happy for you and your husband. Home ownership is a game changer. Happy sewing!
You could still add the white airy curtains behind the velvet panels to soften the look at the window and camoflage the wall behind the short high window. It would look very finished and sweet.
So glad you chose the lighter color, and that you're leaving the lovely wooden trim as is. They look amazing together! :) It's very cozy. When you mentioned hanging out there, I immediately thought of a little upholstered chair in the corner!
Wow thanks for sharing the creative process’s! It’s adorable!🧡 Suggestion: have you tried the mirror on the other wall across from the big window? It might give the illusion of another window in the reflection & bounce off even more sunlight!🪞☀️
SO lovely!! was hoping you'd you chose the lightest shade, and it came out so dreamy! The quilt, the thrifted/DIY gallery wall, that's how my grandma would've approached this process and it was so cozy to watch you thoughtfully craft this beautiful room.
I like the color! In my first house, my living room was about the color of the darkest peach color you had sampled. Keep in mind you can always do an accent wall in a darker peach, or even a different complimentary color. I know it's a dine deal now and if you have a degree in this design you probably already know... 😁 Anyway, so much fun having your own place to decorate as you please! Cheers!
That paint takes me back to the 80s in a good way - lots of peach tones, floral prints - Laura Ashley vibes. My mum painted a couple of rooms in our house a similar colour - including the ceiling. I love the curtains you chose, they tie in well with the cushions and door and window trims. You’ve brought the good parts of 1980s decor but totally updated that look. I love it!
I love everything! The lamp really is perfect for the room. There are two things that I would add that, for me, would make it look more finished. I think the space between the window and the headboard would look great with an oblong frame of a vintage picture or another piece of your beautiful needlework. Also, I think the bed needs a bed skirt. I like the idea of a gathered bed skirt in a tiny floral print that would coordinate with your curtains or your lovely quilt. A bed skirt would "beef up" the bed frame and make it look more substantial. I would have never thought about using your color palette, but, honestly, it's beautiful! I love the curtains! Paint the face of the curtain rod or cover it in a wood-look contact paper to make it blend in better with the window trim. Great job!!!
That black fabric floral is gorgeous and so is your butterfly... They'd be neat together maybe... 🤷🏼. $50 a meter...😱. But dang that would make a beautiful long dress. I sewed up my first pansy dress. Fully lined... It was way too big..😆😆. So I've torn it apart (with the seam ripper(, and prepared a smaller pattern and I'll make a sample first this time..heh. At least too big I can reuse most of the pieces. And I did such a nice job.
A space to be proud of! And the intention behind it, to have a space for loved ones to be able to visit, imbues the whole space from the start with welcoming coziness. Lovely all around.
The room is gorgeous. It is so stylish yet homely and inviting.Any guest will feel so happy to stay in this special room. You can see how much of yourself you have put into making this a place to relax. You have managed to source such a collection of items that match.I love it.
I can definitely see the janelle/ rosary colours there and it looks lovely..that said I actually liked the green walls but not the curtains… the lamp suits the space beautifully…
I have never heard of pencil pleat curtains before... despite owning several sets with that type of backing. I've just always used them like pocket curtains! Beautiful room and I learned something new 😂
A gorgeous space, Janelle! Love the wavies! This video makes me want to transform a lot of my spaces. Slowly things happen, but they are worth the wait.
So fun! You have such a lovely style. Side note in the event this is something you wish to explore, in the US, I can ask my hardware or paint store folks to just desaturate a color I like. So say that darkest color you chose could be requested at 50% of that value to lighten it up a bit. Not sure that's a universal thing.... but wanted to share in case that was of interest to you in the future! You certainly found a good balance with your colors without that! ❤
It's such a beautiful space! 😍 The wall colour choice is perfect. The quilt is glorious. The curtains add a touch of luxury. The wavy accessories are lovely. And the gallery wall is the icing on the cake! All perfectly harmonious, calming and inviting. In a word: perfect!
I love the velvet curtains and I’ve never seen the pull gather tape before. I want to turn my plain curtains into pinch pleats but I like the look you have. Also have you thought of making a buffalo plaid bed skirt
This room turned out fabulous, especially with all your hand made goodies😻 Although I may be biased on the color choice, since I once chose all 3 from dark to light on the Copper Penny paint chip. Hands down my favorite colors for warm and cozy. You nailed it!👏
Loving the journey for your guests room. I had to laugh when I saw the wooden frame of the roses. I had the exact same print. Why didn’t you use Command strips rather than nails?
I’ve used command strips but they don’t hold my stuff due to weight. I even tried the Velcro ones. I use monkey hangers or regular picture hangers. Many of my art pieces weigh a significant amount. Plus our walls are textured where we live and command strips don’t stick. 🤦♀ My daughter uses the command strips for everything and they work wonderful for her. 🙄😂 Go figure.
Am I the only one that got caught by surprise by the 10th of December- when I’m sitting here on June 2nd. I know it isn’t an old video as she’s in the new house. Ohhhhh I commented to early! Lol

This is stunning. It is such a labour of love. Your interiors are sustainable, handmade and reflect own personal style.
Aw thanks so much 🧡
I loved the slow unfolding of this gorgeous room with such gorgeous colours . I love the curtains, they made such a difference ❤❤
It’s just beautiful and nearly the exact colour I had in my bedroom (my Mum painted it) in 1978…..I loved that bedroom ❤❤
This is so inspirational on many levels Janelle! I will be moving in our own home next spring and already moodboarding for each room❤❤
SO lovely!! was hoping you'd you chose the lightest shade, and it came out so dreamy! The quilt, the thrifted/DIY gallery wall, that's how my grandma would've approached this process and it was so cozy to watch you thoughtfully craft this beautiful room.

Beautiful work Janelle. Definitely reflects your style beautifully. Looking forward to what is in store next for your home.
Love this realistic project. Was good to see the process and the result is lovely. Regards from Cape Town South Africa
You did a wonderful job Janelle. Your guest room looks so warm and welcoming. Your guests will love staying with you.
Thank you 🧡

The butterfly is beautiful.
Beautiful cozy room. It looks so warm and welcoming! Excellent job! 🪡🧵👗🥰

Very attractive, Janelle. And the gallery wall makes it come alive - things on the wall always make a big difference.
You did a great job! Everything looks so cohesive and cosy :) I think my favourite details are the handmade quilt and the velvet curtains
Thank you! I’m so proud with how both of those projects turned out ☺️
A space to be proud of! And the intention behind it, to have a space for loved ones to be able to visit, imbues the whole space from the start with welcoming coziness. Lovely all around.
Beautiful room. You accomplished your goals in such a lovely way😊
The curtains go so well with the room, I love it. What a cosy guest room! 🧡

Love the finished room - definitely looks cosy and chic.
Lovely job, doll! Glad you splurged on the mirror. It's a piece you'll cherish for decades. Very nice space!

I can definitely see the janelle/ rosary colours there and it looks lovely..that said I actually liked the green walls but not the curtains… the lamp suits the space beautifully…

Love how it turned out. I think the gallery wall is my favourite part :)
Didn't see a closet or dresser but the room looks lovely😊PS ,you're a good quilter.
Beautiful colour choice for the walls and ceiling. It all looks very calm and relaxing
Absolutely lovely! Your vision became your reality, so happy for you.

This is such an inspiring and motivating process! It surely takes time and it's a good reminder. This space is so cosy.

So beautiful, truly!
Loving the vibe, so cosy!! Bravo 👏
I'm glad that you went for the lighter paint colour.
I like the crayfish wall hanging. Did you make this?
It’s by the artist Whitney Spicer ☺️
Very Pretty!!! Congratulations on your mural wall!!! ❤️💖✨
So cozy and lovely 😊 ❤
Exactly what I was going for! Thank you 🧡🧡
Beautiful room! I really like what you did with the space💖
This room turned out fabulous, especially with all your hand made goodies😻 Although I may be biased on the color choice, since I once chose all 3 from dark to light on the Copper Penny paint chip. Hands down my favorite colors for warm and cozy. You nailed it!👏
That color was my first Choice.
It's very beautiful :) well done!
Such a great job I love everything you did
Very calm and cozy! Just a question...where is storage space for your guests?
Loving the journey for your guests room. I had to laugh when I saw the wooden frame of the roses. I had the exact same print. Why didn’t you use Command strips rather than nails?
I’ve used command strips but they don’t hold my stuff due to weight. I even tried the Velcro ones. I use monkey hangers or regular picture hangers. Many of my art pieces weigh a significant amount. It’s so beautiful and inspiring, you have such a great eye! I find it so intimidating to get started. Love it so much!
Thank you so much! It was a lot of work, but worth it 😍
Very pretty
Beautiful!
is the dress you wearing at the end your pattern? so cute!
Beautiful job!
Really nice!!!😍
I want to stay there 😍😆
It’s lovely!!
Thank you! 🧡
Love it, so cute!
Love it ❤
Great job!!❤
You're my comfort youtuber❤
Aw wow thank you! I’m glad my channel is that for you! 🧡
me too, so calming and relaxing to watch Janelle's videos
In future you can always ask for half or quarter strength of your colour choice.
Am I the only one that got caught by surprise by the 10th of December- when I’m sitting here on June 2nd. I know it isn’t an old video as she’s in the new house. Ohhhhh I commented to early! Lol
The paper template for gallery walls has always worked perfectly for me. I even place my hangers on the templates and then rip the paper down.
❤❤
I'm relieved you changed out of the dress to paint 😅
How much is too much?
If you wanted a color between two, why not mix them together
Do you two ever want to be parents..?? Just curious, you bought a smaller home. ❤❤
