Fly to the Rainbow was released 1974 and is the second album by the Scorpions.
My favorite Black Sabbath Song ever!

The IOMMI album featured different vocalists on all the tracks and included Ozzy as well. This album was truly a solo album with Tony doing what he does best! He tweaks his style to suit whoever he is playing with. A real master!

Thanks, I loved it! :) On Drifting Sun, that was actually Uli Roth singing as well as playing lead, which is why I included it here, so you could hear one of the only two songs he ever sang on as well as the epic lead solos that stopped when he left. It's my understanding that although they knew Klaus would of course always be the main singer (being much better), on this song and on Polar Nights, Uli wanted to sing it himself. On the Iommi album, the album is all different singers on each track, which is cool, since it allows you to hear what Black Sabbath would have sounded like with a bunch of different singers. Iommi took "applications" from famous singers who all wanted to be on the album. This singer is a black woman, which made for a very cool sound. Other singers included Ozzy, Billy Idol. Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Phil Anselmo, Henry Rollins, Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Ian Astbury, Dave Grohl, and Peter Steele. (Iommi turned down Eminem!) You can always tell a Tony Iommi song immediately. Iommi's good friend Brian May even played some additional guitar on one of the tracks ("Flame On") as a guest. The album took nearly 5 years to make. No one else sounds like him.
He also sang "Hell Cat", "Sun in My Hand", "Dark Lady" (shared vocals with Klaus), "Fly to the Rainbow" (last part).

The Iommi track has been on my playlist since that album was released. So powerful.

After Tony chopped off his fingers in that metal shop accident the only way he could really even play was by tuning WAY down and using the lightest gage strings they make.
Early on, he even had to resort to using banjo strings, believe it or not! Good comment!

Sorry I was distracted prepping for dinner.
Without checking the liner notes, I'd say Uli got the first bit of vocals with Klaus singing the high backing vocals with Rudy catching some vocals in the middle section. Also, it sounded like Rudy got some lead licks in the middle section as well and then joined by the epic playing of Uli coming in to cap it all off! I may be way off but that's what I heard. 🤔😎😋
How high cculd Ozzy go at the time?
Hey Nick, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is my favorite Sabbath album, however in my opinion whoever engineered this album screwed it big time. Alot of the dynamics were lost. Guitar distortion is terrible. Rhythm section is flat throughout. The ozzy's voice does shine. I never slam album recording, but this has always pissed me off. Too bad they couldn't go back in a time machine, and re- record with a sound engineer who knew their way around a sound board. It could be the greatest rock album of all time. Look at Steely Dan's recordings every album was engineered to perfection. You love the Dan as much as I do. Engineering is everything!

@Mike G. After i discovered 70s Black Sabbath I found all other rock bands SOOOOOO BORING.This is an aggressive rock song and it s written to perfection.Even the short guitar solo fits perfectly the lyrics
