I've watched as you started with the push mower, in the truck asking how many yards can you do in a day. From there to trimming/ edging guides, now to this. I thank you for not changing on us little neighborhood landscapers that look for advice. I thank you for all your interest in us viewers, and most importantly I thank you man to man for helping me establish my law care business
Brian Kelly I didn’t start out with a push mower in the back of a truck asking how many yards I can do LOL. I was already a well-established lawn service for over 20 years. That was just a video series to help show people what they can do with a push mower in the back of a truck
So many times I have sat on zero turn mowers thinking they were the ultimate. This has completely changed my opinion. This is why I love to watch and listen to you. Thanks a bunch. Saved me from making a big mistake.
I just purchased a zero turn mower. Prior to my purchase, I've watched hours (maybe 50 or more) of UA-cam videos on zero turns. As I'm waiting to get my first mow on the new zero turn I found your video. I must say, it is the BEST video I've seen talking about ANY law mower implement. I learned much from this video. (believe I will still like my new zero turn, but understand how your Walk Behind would be much more useful on certain jobs.)
Nice mower. I've owned exmark, scag, and ferris 36" hydro walk behinds, and I think the exmark has the best operator presence controls. You'll love the exmark; it's a quality mower, trouble free, easy to service, and provides a great cut. Congrats!
Just picked up a 2009 exmark turf tracer hp... absolutely love it and its perfect for what i do. I bought a 600.00 exmark sulky also and its really nice. Congrats on the new machine
As others have all ready said, CONGRATULATION on the new purchase . That was a very informative vlog on how the controls operate and how easily the controls are to use .
Great demo Dan, congrats on that Exmark. If you don't want to mess with the washers to vary from 1/2" to 1/4"cutting increments, you can just set the 2 back pins 1 hole lower than the front 2. For example, for 3-3/4" - set the front 2 pins on hole 6, and the back 2 on hole 5. For 3-1/4"- set the front 2 pins on hole 5, and the back 2 on hole 4. That's worked for me for many years. Hey... keep the cooking videos coming too!
I was thinking that too but worried about premature wear on the belt rubbing the pulley? I do that with my honda pusher but I figured 1/4 inch washers is going to be easier on the machine
@@DansVlog Honestly never experienced any excess wear on the belts, replaced them as you would expect. My Turf Tracer is old, a 2001 model, on its second engine. But still has its original spindles and pumps.
Thanks for the video Dan. Been watching for months now. After months of learning from all you guys, and scoping the neighborhoods around me, The Velky 36 is clearly the wisest first choice. I've got lots of gates and lots of slopes. Will have to hold off on the bigger mower. Gonna need a 52 also in time. These yards are big, but I'll miss out on the ones with the gates without a 36.
I've never seen lawnmower like that here in the Uk but they certainly make sense considering the size of the lawns you cut as well as the intense heat so if it makes the job easier and eases fatigue it's well worth the money
LOL you may be the one saying it. I think 3 looks a bit shabby and 2.5 is too short. I find 2.75 is nice and clean and looks manicured (centipede grass)
@@DansVlog true. actually never thought about that. dont know all the grasses. and actually from my perspective not theirs, 2.75 sometimes makes the difference between a 'clean cut' and a mess to clean up after at 2.5 or less
Great machine and your explanations about it's benefits versus larger deck units and belt driven or zero turn are excellent. I'm not in the business but you've certainly educated me in a big way. THANK YOU!
Dan's Vlog check into the wright velke... a little more pricey, but when backing up it’ll fold up under and reverse without having to pick it up or ride it. I’ve got the exmark one and wished bought the wright velke.
@@DansVlog the only costly work ive had to have done on mine in the past is replace the hydro pumps on the back. And when one of them goes you have to replace the wheel motor on the same side. Only use it for spring and fall clean ups. Ive tried all the big names and that grasshopper is the best for sucking up.
Great choice. I bought my 1st 36" Bobcat walk behind hydro floating deck. I love it, but now people with 1+ acres calling me. So I might buy my buddy 52" Exmark. He bought a new 60" Emark WB.

I have an older 50" Gravely belt drive + a larger ZTR with hydro. The Gravely is starting to wear me out. Nice new equipment you have. I see the logic. Good luck with it.
Well done Capt, for your lawn. Your 32,36, walking is cool. Sitting, standing, is next. Keep a open minded view. 900 a month $$ with just a lot or field is a husle.
Only thing I had was the scalp wheels were to low which were making them drag on low settings so I raised them up some! But other then that I love this mower so much!
Congratulations very nice. 👍. I got 32 encore rage stand on ($6000 90% of my customers won't fit even a 34 like you said depends on your area (Hollywood fl) and I got the 42 ZTx gravely like you had and use once in a while I use the 32 most and a self pro also I learn so much from you You help me start my business almost two years ago and I'm still learning thank you so much love watching your videos and so happy for you getting the mower you wanted enjoy and be safe. Thank you Guy (that my name lol 😀)
Dan's Vlog I remember you talking about your time here in one video. I wanted 36 but it won't fit on most back yard gate on my client Trust me I try and their back yard are big I had no choice but to go with 32 Again that in my clients don't know why most got small gate
Dan's Vlog lol 😂. Exactly That my problem But I am getting new clients with new house that have big gate so in the future I will add the 36 hopefully When I have enough of them
Dan congratulations 🍾🎊🎈I purchased a 48”snapper pro walk behind for $5700 for this season I like it so far I wanted a Exmark but I couldn’t justify spending 8k for it I love Exmarks!! After I pay this machine off in a few months I’m hoping to purchase a 36” stand on Exmark and pay it off November 2020.
Congrats on the sweet piece of new equipment. I have a walk behind brush mower with a 17 HP Kawasaki. It's a smooth running powerhouse. The only drawback is Carburetor service. If you ever need to do more than a basic cleaning you're looking at a $200 replacement. Rebuild kits aren't available. At least for mine. I'm looking forward to seeing you make this thing pay for itself.
I work for a big lawn maintenance company that uses these. My boss has some that are years old and maintains and fixes them in house. We maintenance really big apartment complexes so we put alot of hours on them. The issues that I've noticed the most are the pull start mechanism sucks. These little plastic arms that when you pull the string it catches and spins the mower always break and the string will never catch or the string won't retract back. And sometimes the hydrolics will make the mower turn to one side more but can be adjusted. Other than that it's a very good mower. Just always keep extra arms for the pull start mechanism. Doesn't happen to all his mowers. He has about 15 exmarks and it happens to about 6 of them all the time.
oh for sure, and "reaching" under trees, bushes, awnings etc. I have owned a ZTR and Walk behinds and hands down, the WB is far more versatile for residential properties with gates, fences and objects in the yard
I'm looking at a exmark viking hydro 48" cut tomorrow. It's not new but a nice used unit. Anything you think I should look at while looking at a used mower.
Wiggle the blades to see if spindles are good. Should be no wiggle. Obviously check oil and air filter condition. Fire it up and run the blades. Feel for bad vibrations. Other than that, not much more I can say. Not sure the seller will let you tear into the hydros so... it’s a crap shoot... good luck my friend
Congrats! Exmark Turf Tracers are awesome mowers. However, I would not recommend disconnecting the safety handles. If the mower gets away from you it will continue forward on its own with the blades on and may cause serious damage to you or property.
While dan has great awareness of how his machine operates accidents still do happen. I personally have witnessed new guys who never used a WB but claimed they have. and get behind one only to let go of one handle and the thing gets away from them. if it wasnt for those safety handles, the mower would have caused alot of damage to property. simply just letting go and the pto shuts off and the mower just dies.
I blame the owner for handing over a machine to someone with little to no experience in an area on a property where damage can occure. Relying on a safety switch is ass-backwards but, what do I know?
@@DansVlog fully agree safety switches are only to protect the people with lack of knowledge and training that should not be using the machine in the first place
Good points. Just thought I’d put that out there for those who are not as experienced with commercial mowers. Looks like it will be a great machine for you. Your videos are very informative.
I'm sure I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for the safety handles. But I run it on 6 all day with the hydro springs on the highest settings which are under the fuel tanks by the hyrdos. I also use a velke.
Congrats Dan . What a great video . Just found your channel and what a great channel it is . You give out lots of great information on your experience on mowing lawns and stuff . This is a really good learning channel . Thanks

Good video as always! I thought about a timemaster vs 36” a lot before finding a Ferris 36 with 190 hrs. Love it! And with my sulky a great backup for my Ztr
Whoa!! Now that's a lawnmower! While others will comment on the mechanics, I'd like to say a word about your fashion sense... matching shirt and lawnmower colors. Very cool. (Such a girly thing to notice, ha!) Congrats on your new mower (toy?)! ;-)
Did you happen to look at the new Gravely Pro Walk Hydro 36"? I compared them side by side and ended up with the Gravely, primarily because it was heavier built, had a better deck adjustment system, longer warranty and most of all, their Intuitive Steering system. There is nothing else like it and I found far easier to use vs the lever system the Exmark and all the other walk behinds use.
Well well well ole Dan moving back up and off the lawn tractors good move hard to beat the 36inch walk behind should be a breeze getting thru the accounts you have now and maybe even pick up a few more

Whoa!! Now that's a lawnmower! While others will comment on the mechanics, I'd like to say a word about your fashion sense... matching shirt and lawnmower colors. Very cool. (Such a girly thing to notice, ha!) Congrats on your new mower (toy?)! ;-)
I also waxed my eye brows for this video! LOL
@@DansVlog HAHAHAHAHAHA
LOL You are quite witty this morning, Dan! Enjoy your day...
Sweet mower Dan! ...WOW...$7K ...ExMark is proud... Congrats 😉
Thank you!
For 7k you would think they would throw an electric start on for ya.
mike notta their 36 standers have an electric start
@@mikenotta7079 agree with you on that
Did you happen to look at the new Gravely Pro Walk Hydro 36"? I compared them side by side and ended up with the Gravely, primarily because it was heavier built, had a better deck adjustment system, longer warranty and most of all, their Intuitive Steering system. There is nothing else like it and I found far easier to use vs the lever system the Exmark and all the other walk behinds use.
I looked at it but I’m just not a stander guy.
Well well well ole Dan moving back up and off the lawn tractors good move hard to beat the 36inch walk behind should be a breeze getting thru the accounts you have now and maybe even pick up a few more
Thank you Dow, I advertised yesterday!
congrats on the sweet mower and thanks for the awesome video's
