Just want to share something I learned growing indoors this winter and works great to keep bugs at bay. Worm castings have an enzyme that most bugs don't like and works well for me and it is easier to do than raising your brix levels, although you still benefit greatly from having high brix. It is also a very gentle and almost complete fertilizer. Enjoying your new video and the great knowledge, thanx!

A great channel that will help you with your plants is Advancing Eco Agriculture. Raising your BRIX levels will help you keep pests at bay and give you much more nutritionally dense food. Generally, Kelp meal for micronutrients, Calcium for nutrient transport and phosphorus for strong roots among other things will get your BRIX levels up.

I have delt with insects myself and it looks like in your case, you will always have to keep them at bay. One way to do this is keep down on the amount of nitrogen that your plants get, insects feed on nitrogen, only give nitrogen in the spring. Also give your plants more calcium, calcium makes the foliage stronger and more resistant to bugs sucking their sap. Adding silica to your plants will also make them more resistant to bugs. The more balanced your nutrients the better they can cope with bugs. Spraying with Neem oil will also keep the bugs in check, it throws off their ability to reproduce. Bugs are always looking for weak plants to attack, it's kind of their job in nature. Wishing you abundance in your awesome green house!!!

That yellow fly paper can also be very helpful, it attracts flying bugs so you can see early on what is in the area and what may be a problem, and it's cheap.

I thought about suggesting insecticidal soap when you first mentioned white flies but I have come to think that some You Tubers don't want suggestions in the comments. Since you are having to spray, I suggest you use castille soap in the water instead of dish detergent. That makes your spray as organic as can be. You can make castille soap as my wife does in a slow cooker at home. I find it works well as an insecticide. For the white flies hiding in the chips, liberally dust everywhere with diatomaceous earth. You can also dust your plants with it. It is organic as well. Good luck buddy.

You commented that there is a lot to know and learn about growing things. No truer words have been spoken. I gardened all my life, learning as I went. As I got older I seem to get a bit better at it, just about the time I started forgetting things. Haha!
White flies don't have a dormant stage so they are not usually in the soil. DE on the mulch may not have much effect but dusted on the plants will be more effective. As you observed eggs are laid on the underside of the leaves so that is where you want to treat mainly.
Green house white fly can carry lots of plant diseases so watch for yellowing leaves on your cukes.
Nice storm huh? Our power stayed on this time but I was ready for it to go out. It did flicker off once but came right back on luckily.
I hope you got all the pests but I would keep up the spraying about a week or ten days forward to thwart the next hatch.
      Good luck buddy!

Butter is over €2 for 250g, "butter-like" veg fat has had 2 price hikes and was 79c last time for 250g. Schmalz (lard) is going for about €1.40 per 250g (we can also get many flavoured ones with onion, meat, veg and herbs). Butterschmalz (clarified butter, ghee) is about €7 for 500g. Tallow is sheep fat and lamb is hard to get and very very expensive in Germany. (Unlike the UK where there's loads of sheep). Suet (beef fat) I haven't seen here ever.

Be careful with that fish waste for your plants. Fish waste is high in Nitrates and bugs are attracted to Nitrates like a shark to blood, use it sparingly. Contrary to popular belief, plants don't need that much nitrogen, only in growth and too much leads to leggy plants that bugs like to eat. You might be better off using the fish themselves for fertilizer, they are high in phosphorus, calcium and micro-nutrients, which will give you stronger, root-based plants which leads to higher quality, yield and bug resistance. That Canadian Prepper video was hilarious! Keep up the great videos!

I like what you are doing with the biochar and am interested to see your results. I have recently bought a brix refractometer ($37.00 and should last a lifetime) and have been raising my brix levels up to a 12 right now and I must say that the stubborn spider mites that have been lingering for over a decade have almost completely disappeared, only having a few small colonies on the oldest of leaves. I have been using store bought amenities to raise the brix but have been looking into ways to be self-sufficient and have come across this channel which may be of benefit to you. ua-cam.com/video/Gg0sDH3NVb8/v-deo.html I am working on my own extractions and looking forward to implementing them.
